I have no idea whether or not there’s a legit plan and, if so, whether or not it is a good plan. I don’t think anyone knows.

Part of the problem with anyone receiving information right now is the reliability of the source. These guys have been bullish on things or viewed things as a given and then been dead wrong, and lately.

I just got back from a hunting trip with a big check writer. I asked him who we are getting at rb and he said everything changes so quickly he stopped even trying to keep up with stuff like that. One minute this guy is coming and the next he’s not etc. He can call sark any time he wants but he said it’s not even worth it and just feels like he’s wasting sark or whoever’s time by even asking.

can you have him ask Sark when Flood is getting fired?

I think there’s a chance he was just being nice and basically saying I’m not telling you shit

Yeah, cool story. I spent the last week with a big money donor (whose name I won't divulge) and he didn't tell me anything. In fact, he barely talked to me except to say "fuck off".

We’re still watching retention for Texas. The ball is in Trevor Goosby’s and Ryan Wingo’s court in that regard. Both would love nothing more than to return to Texas—but you know how it goes these days.

More on Goosby this morning

Re: The Goosby thread.

Like we've said, the ball is in Goosby's court on his return to Texas. The Draft is not their preference due to his age and relative lack of experience. If Goosby walks, potentially to the portal, Texas does have a backup plan but it likely won't improve the line while still leaving issues to address on the O-line.

This is a "risk on" move.

Hopefully he just comes back.

Wtf? Goosby is suddenly a portal risk? Sorry but that's pretty unacceptable from the staff if it happens. Absolutely cannot leave Arch's blindside to chance.

Wingo on the other hand I'm ok with making sure you're paying fair value.

I have to think this is more of an agent doing his job than anything else.

That "backup plan" better involve getting another left tackle from the portal.

have to firm up the OL

Correct, lots of moving parts to this NIL stuff but the bits that go public are no accident, both sides leak strategically

hope you two had a romantic week 🥰

old man yells at cloud - hate all this portal / transfer / nil stuff: nfl lite

i'm ok with guys getting an extra year and very ok with jc kids having 4 years.

one transfer window in jan is dumb, it should be jan and may / summer. someone will take the ncaa to court and get that may window back.

Also I thought everyone kept saying the Goosby's were less concerned about NIL than most? That IT update sure makes it sound otherwise

Agent still has to justify his employment.

This is certainly uneasy territory for me, not enjoying all the “he’d love to be back if it was up to him” statements.

If kids have no control over where they end up, what is this sport exactly?

I assume that's a 9.95er throwaway line but who knows

Pass. He was committed here at one point and there was a lot of stuff during his recruitment that raised red flags.

He had a decent year this year but how much of that was because of OL/schedule.

Oh no! All the good players might leave like they might have last year and the year before that and the year before that!

His backup Ashton Gray is also entering and actually had a higher ypc (6.5) albeit on much fewer carries. Haven't watched him but possibly a good lower-cost option

This kind of shit from our fanbase wears me out. Sark took over a lost program and since we've been to 2 semis and should have been in the playoffs this year but for a committee that doesn't understand math or probability (outside of counting losses).

More realistically, we should have been in the playoffs this year but for a wasted offseason where the coaches identified and strengthened none of our glaring O-line and RB room weaknesses. In other words, the same thing we're worried could very well repeat itself this year.

But hey, if you want to place the blame at the feet of the committee after watching Connor Stroh stumble around for 60 minutes against a dismal 4-8 Florida squad, instead of questioning the multiple poor coaching decisions that led to such a situation, that's your prerogative.

Could easily just be public negotiating, but the outlook on the 2026 roster/season changes dramatically if Goosby goes to the portal. All the talk about Texas doing so much in the portal would immediately seem like bullshit.

Didn’t Goosby’s brother commit(basketball)? I don’t think there is much to worry about there.

Surely he and Wingo are 2A/2B (after Arch) for retention, right?

He was their big recruit. Until Concepcion showed up, he was their big hope. Undoubted game-changer. It would be a big deal if he goes to some other program and tears it up. Either the Aggies never found a way to use him or he's not as good as he was rated. It was small town high school competition, but he has flashed at A&M; he just hasn't made much of a mark. The Aggies constant expectation that he, almost alone, could lead them to greatness is why I recall him more than other players.

Sometimes, I think being rated an athlete maybe confuses coaches when they get on campus. They dither too much about where to play him. I'm interested in how this turns out.

@immamac BTW, love the upgrade. Looks and works great! Now my images won't be so huge. Well done!

We have the same dude. He’s named Michael Terry. I’m generally skeptical of “athlete”. Doesn’t mean it never works, but it’s probably a higher than average bust rate.

Bussey is 5-10 195

Terry is 6-3 216

They aren’t nearly “the same guy”

You know Wulaw, he’s not one to let the facts get in the way of his hot takes.

Best outcome for Mike Terry is Lil Jordan Humphrey. He carved out a nice role and is getting quality snaps with the Broncos.

But it’s ok if they leave because they suck anyway and we always get better players in the portal.

I meant dude without a position trying to figure out where to play on offense. Not doppelgänger.

I think the Wisner is great against rivals thing is very overblown honestly. His patience and vision are perfectly suited to gash the type of defense ou and atm play. If he had cutback lanes like that all the time, he would go off every week. Only a handful of teams on the schedule do that though. When defenses don't aggressively over-pursue, he magically doesn't look like an All American. That article from CJ strengthens the scuttlebutt that his agent is inexperienced and doesn't have realistic expectations of how much Wisner can get. Wisner is borderline draftable. He's not worth 2/3 of the imaginary Baugh offer that the agent assumed was accurate.

His third best game was against Vandy. He was running well against Georgia before sark abandoned the run game. He’s a pedestrian back that ended up RB1 at Texas with a shit offensive line and a coach that leaves the run game behind and then in the post game says we should have run it more. Yeah OU and A&M have schemes you can exploit but those defenses played plenty well against most of their schedule. The kid did well in key games. Im still fine with him leaving and Texas upgrading.
