It already was!

This entire thing is a dumb fuck panic move that will set the roster back immensely over the next couple of years, without solving any of the team's current problems.

This is like buying a used designer couch for the living room when your houses foundation is shifting.

I know WE all thought it was.  But how much you wanna bet it wasn't for Jerry.  He said as much.

All I can say is all the love I had for the boys from growing up in the 80's and 90s is gone.

Not sure how many fucking times this senile owner can trade a first round draft pick for a used up WR.     But he somehow manages to do it every 6 years or so.

The really scarry part about this was on 104.9 this morning, Wags fucking NAILED this trade talk.  He specifically said he expected Jerry to panic and trade for a bad WR with their 1st round pick.

less than an hour later, the news hit the wire

If it works out, it is a good deal. Dallas was going to be looking at a 1st round WR anyway. Now they get a young one who has shown he can be a legit #1 guy. Like most decisions we have to wait and see if it works out.
Wut? This dude isn't that good and he makes a shit ton more than a 1st Rd pick. Also, we'd have that 1st Rd pick for 5 years at a good cost. You want Cooper that long, be ready to shell out some dough. This was a dumb ass move. No spinning it. He drops the ball a lot and flat out looks lazy and disinterested at times.

We could have brought Dez back if we wanted that. And no 1st rounder required or a lot of money.

The defense has actually been really good, in hindsight not trading for Earl looks great.

Actually, what it's really missing is a ballhawk safety who can create turnovers.  We don't create turnovers well.  But the difference is Earl is 30 years old and in last year of his contract....

Not true. Earl makes this defense legit. And adds an element we don't have. Which is a playmaker and ballhawk. Our safeties are the worst in the league. Heath should be selling insurance. He is very bad.

This defense still can't create turnovers with any consistency, especially getting picks.

Earl Thomas before he got hurt would help this team much more than Cooper.

That logic is about as dumb as saying a long interception on 3rd down is as good as a punt. Except you don't punt on 3rd down.

Tell me which 1st round picks cost this amount of money and only have 1.5 years left on their deal? Yeah...They can do whatever they want to spin this. It was a terrible knee jerk reaction move by Jerry as he got desperate and panicked. Like he did for Galloway and Williams.

The defense is already legit, but I agree the Earl deal made more sense than this one if it's an either or situation.

They were always all in on Dak.  That's why not making moves this off-season was so stupid

They're "all in on Dak" because there really isn't a Plan B right now. Rush and/or White are probably not the answer and the Cowboys were going to be drafting in the middle of the 1st round next April most likely -- now they won't have a 1st.

Yeah, the only reason the non-move for Earl makes sense now is because he broke his leg. Up to that point, he was the best safety and one of the best defensive players in the league this season. He'd make an already good defense elite and I hope we still pursue him in FA next year.

The Cowboys should have used that pick to get a QB in free agency. At this rate, that pick could have been / be a top 10 pick and potentially top 5.

Until they have a new QB, any high profile trade for an O player is the rearrangement of Titanic deck chairs. It is painfully obvious Dak is not capable of being a starter in this league.

They're on their way to a head-on collision with 8-8 and a draft pick in the teens.

Trade a 1st round pick for a free agent QB? Why? There is no QB out there in free agency worth a damn that will warrant a 1st round pick. If you have a good QB, you are keeping him. Unless you are KC and are going to the younger guy.

And the 2019 QB class for the draft is going to be awful. I would not want to spend the 1st rd pick there, either.

while Dak has his faults and needs to play better, he is a guy who needs a good support staff. Meaning coaching. His QB coach is fucking Kellen Moore who was so bad, that Dak made him quit football. Offensive coaches who have no idea how to design a gameplan or utilize their players to play to their strengths. Do you think Mahomes and Goff would look how they do under these cracker jack coaches? Absolutely not. I'd love to see what offensive minds like Reid and McVay could do with Dak. I guarantee you he'd look better than here.

Just listened to Charles Woodson, a former teammate of Cooper,  say he didn't see Amari as a number one receiver, not the kind of guy that will "go and make a play for you" when you need it. He agrees with me. Total panic move.

Cooper better show something he hasn't shown in a long time, or this will be another horrible deal.
