They just said that UGA’s Foley Field is only 314 to right but these home runs are clearing the scoreboard and tree lines. Binghamton just got a HR themselves.

That stadium is a fucking bandbox.

That Oregon call was fucking atrocious. Just give them skirts to play in if you’re going to be that soft. Catcher fully blocked the plate without the ball, runner barely bumps into him while trying to avoid a collision. What a joke. Every snowflake that got offended when I said the two bags at first would lead to this should feel really stupid today.

Proving once again you are an idiot.

Barely bumps him…..right.

Hey dumbass. Look at these two screenshots and tell me where this guy goes wrong. The basepath is totally and completely obstructed. He attempts to slide under him and leans away from the contact. Absolutely NOTHING malicious about it. Get the umpire's dick out of your mouth.

Georgia came to Austin in early April. They had hit a billion HR and had team batting average of .6969. Okay I’m exaggerating a little bit but they got broomed and scored 8 runs in 3 games.

Yeah bad call. Catcher took a gamble. If he catches that ball he’s in legal position and runner is out. He missed the ball and is therefore obstructing. Runner definitely tried to pull up and was not malicious.

You don’t understand how rules work do you?  No matter what a runner cannot plow through the catcher.

Catcher has to be in legal position though. He didn’t have the ball so was not in legal position. At that point intent matters.

Attempts to slide and sliding are two different things.

It doesn’t matter anyway.

You can no longer blow a catcher up at home plate no matter where he is or where the ball is.

If the catcher was 15 feet up the baseline without the ball and got trucked the runner would still be out and ejected as well.

Some of you are dumber than a fucking stump.

Read the fucking rules assclown.

So the catcher can pretend he caught the ball, obstruct the basepath four feet in front of the plate, shove his arms into the runner trying to slide under him and leaning away from contact (without the ball), and that's the runners fault? The runner is running full speed and the catcher is obstructing the base path without the ball, what do you expect him to do a flying summersault over him, are you fucking serious right now? Take off your skirt

College baseball stadiums often look so funny.  There’s no cohesion.  Let’s just throw some bleachers in this random position in the outfield so we can add more fans despite there being nothing down the lines past the dugouts.

You have shown your ass repeatedly on this topic. There was nothing malicious about the contact. Also the catcher is very clearly obstructing home plate and initiates contact with the sliding runner by shoving his hands into him. We are rewarding a bad throw and obstruction of the runner. If you had ever played baseball one time in your life, you would understand, but you havent. Stick to softball.

No matter what you can not blow up the catcher.  Yes the runner tried to hold up but he still ran over the catcher.

So a catcher can just stand in the base path and the runner has to stop no matter what? Nope. I will ask again. Was there anything malicious here? What do you think he should have done? The runner is leaning away from contact and the catcher pretends to have the ball and very clearly sticks his arms into the runner, initiating the contact.

Had the runner slid into the catcher he would have been safe and not thrown out of the game.

You are the dumbass.

It was called malicious by replay so your view of the play is insignificant.

It is a fucking rule.

It was the correct call by replay.

Sorry you are too ignorant to understand.

Rule 8-7 is the collision rule.  Rule 8-7 (a) 2) clearly states that contact above the waist causes the runner to be declared out.

2) The runner may not attempt to dislodge the ball from the fielder. Contact
above the waist shall be judged by the umpire as an attempt by the runner
to dislodge the ball.
PENALTY for (2)—If the runner attempts to dislodge the ball or initiates an
avoidable collision, the runner shall be declared out, even if the fielder
loses possession of the ball. The ball is dead and all other base runners
shall return to the last base touched at the time of the collision.

If the runner had not made contact above the waist it should have been considered unavoidable contact, and obstruction would have come into play.  The malicious intent and subsequent ejection appear to be at the ump's discretion, but the runner was clearly out under the rules.

Yall need your eyes checked, the dude is sliding and leaning away and the catcher is initiating contact with his glove. The first point of contact is at the feet. It is a total gaslight to say he was attempting to dislodge the ball. The second the catcher missed the ball he shouldve been moving out of the way, not leaning down and into the runner.

You are a miserable person aren’t you.

The runner is responsible for avoiding the collision.

He didn’t.

He ran right over him, above the waste by the way, which results in him being out and ejected.

You can call it a pussy rule or whatever you want.

The rule is clear and the runner violated it.

He was stumbling not sliding.  Catcher did not have time to move out of the way.  It is always the runners job to make sure that a collision does not occur.  Had the runner slid he would have been safe no matter what because of obstruction.  He did not slide and a collision with the catcher occurred, therefore, the runner is out.  This isn’t the 70s, we are trying to prevent concussions and career ending injuries.

But he did have time to lower his hands and body and move into the runner to initiate contact with him while the runner was leaning away and trying to slide under the catcher. But also according to you, the runner had enough time and should be able to just stop on a dime and avoid the catcher? Lol got it.

Posted this in another thread, but for the purposes of obstruction, a defender is allowed to be in the base path if he’s in the act of fielding, not just if he has possession. The catcher was fine.

There has to be some discretion here.

Take the Jonah play.  He contacted the defender above the waist.  There was virtually no way he could avoid that.  But if you want to argue this runner is out by that, then so is Williams.

And strictly you cannot dislodge a ball that the fielder does not have.  The ball has already passed the catcher, right?  So that can be interpreted to not apply.

As to the second part, since the runner cannot dislodge a ball that’s not held, you have to move to the unavoidable contact.  You can clearly see the runner taking a posture that is not to bowl the catcher over.  The catcher extends beyond what is normal.  For the runner to avoid contact, he basically has to leave the base path which is not a reasonable expectation given the real time circumstances.

Seems like a crappy call to call him out.
