Louisiana was one of the first to entertain the 10 Commandments in schools. Texas seems to be following suit. I've said it before. Texas is no better than Oklahoma, Louisiana or any of the dipshit SEC states. We can idiot with the best of them.

Oh, we're worse.  Because we have no excuse.  We've actually TASTED having a relatively educated population, growing economic opportunity and prosperity....and we've now said "NOPE.  WE WANNA BE LIKE MISSISSIPPI, BUT MEANER TO HISPANICS."

I mean....you think I was being hyperbolic.  I was not.

Imaginary chemtrails?  They merit legislative action.

Real-live pollution involving carcinogens that actually kill people?  That merits legislative action too.....to ban local people from monitoring and publicizing such pollution:

Banning imaginary pollution, protecting real pollution.  The only thing dumber than Louisiana doing this is that Texas is sure to copy it all next legislative session.

I can't believe this is real.

Well Hell, I guess it was a good thing those Saturn 5 moon rockets weren't producing any sort of exhaust trails.  If they had we never coulda made it to the moon.

Part of what helped us win the war against the Nazis was all of those chemtrails left by our B-17s and B-24s when bombing Germany.

Look at all of these beautiful freedom trails

Yeah, that's one of the images/pieces of evidence that just has me shaking my head repeatedly.  The evidence of "chemtrails" is "look up in the sky and see those streaks!"  You mean....the fucking streaks that have been created by planes flying at speed and altitude since we started breaking the 100 mph flight barrier?  Jesus monkeyfuck, we are the dumbest fucking species, and there is a 100% chance that we are going to end our species' reign over the earth out of sheer ultra-mega-off-the-fucking-charts stupidity.

I'm guessing there is at least a 98% certainty that the authors of this proposed legislation have seen some (or all) of these photos and concluded that by God, they were going to do something about this:

2 questions

a) is it “contrails” or “chemtrails”

2) what is allegedly in them that is harmful? Presumably people had to give testimony for and against this bill yes? What did they say?

Well, every airliner you see has these massive tanks of chemtrail fluid.  They don't have room for passengers or cargo, just the fluid.  Airline industry is all a ruse.  "Passengers" get drugged, and put on high-speed rail systems to their final destinations.

The scientific name is "condensation trail" or "contrail," as noted above.  I suppose you could make an argument that jet exhaust, which forms some of them, has some polluting shit in it, because being a hydrocarbon combustion product, it assuredly does.

But, wingtip vortices produce most of them I think, as evidenced by the WWII era photos above.  And ain't nothin in those cept dihydrogen monoxide.

The chemicals released by the jetliners are actually hallucinogens that help maintain the illusion that the earth is round.

My guess is probably about the same as car and truck exhaust.  Better ban all those right quick.

They'll ban raising any questions about car and truck exhaust.

You’re letting your big city bias show. Get outside of the big cities and the PNW gives the Deep South a run for the money in crazy. I’ve seen more confederate flags and MAGA shit driving to my in-law’s lake house in Washington than I’ve ever seen on my regular drives between Houston and Austin. There are some seriously backwards rednecks up in that part of the country.

Truth, especially the mountain towns.  A good example is a small town called Falls City that tourists pass through to get to the Valley of the Giants old growth forest reserve.  It's a bad road, so you slowly pass by a lot of dilapidated old houses.  Seems like the curtains open an inch or two at each one, and you can feel the eyes on you.

Louisiana: where they ban imaginary chemical pollution, but also eliminate all regulation of ACTUAL chemical pollution.

I’m thankful (and surprised) this was not in Oklahoma.

The only thing saving Alabama (so far) is our innate resistance to all change, good or idiotic.

Side note: contrails + sonic booms = prosperity in my childhood town back when the Air Force base was still dumping Federal pay checks on us all.

So is it now illegal to fly commercial jets in Louisiana during cold fronts? Airlines should stop going there, and I’m not joking. They risk being sued or prosecuted and would have to prove that the condensation isn’t government chemicals which would be impossible. Plus there is certainly going to be some exhaust chemicals so they’ll be in violation.

This is all for show. There isn't a damn thing Louisiana can do about chemtrails. Science, how does it work?

The dipshit charlatans in the LA House know this. It's just to appease the absolute idiotic masses that they did "something". That the charlatans can even entertain doing shit this stupid tells you what you need to know about their voting base.

They've also banned witches placing curses on people to turn them into newts, and they've banned black magic curses upon homesteads.  So, you know, totally real and totally important things.

Wow.  Stupid is as stupid does.  We really need to find a way to incentivize people to run for state office.  With few exceptions, state legislatures are populated by wildly incompetent people.

....the voters are electing the representation that they want.  Forget the dollar, forget Bitcoin....stupidity is the only currency of real value in the marketplace in 2025.  A candidate running on a platform of banning fire, vaccines, and breathing wins in most red states by 10 points or more.

I tend to disagree a bit.  The voters are electing the people on the ballot.

Bullshit. Put a candidate on the ticket that tells Louisiana voters that chemtrails don't exist, vaccines don't cause autism, and global warning is real, and let me know how that goes.

There is a greater than 0% chance that we have one or more flat earthers in the Texas lege that are itching to push legislation recognizing that the earth is flat.

"Non-idiot" is a non-starter in elections in Louisiana, Texas, etc.  You are REQUIRED to be a fucking insane moron in order to get enough votes.  The math maths on this one.

Idea: Terry Crews could 100% win the presidency today.  Running either as himself, or as the President Camacho character, it really wouldn't matter.  He'd just have to say stuff like "Americans want a strong tough guy for president, and I'm that guy."  Then flex and stuff.  And then win the presidency by 5%.

And by the way....I'd be THRILLED with that outcome at this point.

I was just going to post this.  President Camacho actually cared - in his dumbass way - about improving things for his people.  The current fucking guy does not.

I just completely disagree.  I also think it is funny that you think that Texas and Louisiana have more "insane morons" than the state legislatures in California or Oregon.  This is a political board so I assume people here know some of their reps.  I'd say 75% are wholly unqualified for the job.

The truth is that the best and brightest among us do not run for office.  It is hard to blame them.  It pays next to nothing.  Your life is on blast.  Any moderate position taken will be blasted by the fringe of each party.  People will twist your words and take comments out of context to try and score political points.  It is a lousy gig for a competent person.

As an attorney I am certain you have met and worked with people from every spectrum of the law.  I am also certain that there are a small percentage of attorneys out there that you may have genuine disagreements with and may have been on opposing sides of issues with that you would say were honest, forthright, competent, moral, ethical and smart.  None of those people are going to run for office in the state legislature.  And yet, you would most likely agree that that smalll percentage of folks (be they dem or rep) would be light years better than who we have now.

The real bill sponsor is thinking ahead to when all big rigs are safely self-driving and there are no trucking companies left to sue.

The weirdest thing about flat earthers is they tend to keep it a secret until its too late. Example you ask? I know a guy who had a date with a late 30s Surly 7. As he tells me the writing was on the wall, what with the parole she was on for domestic violence and assault charges with a chainsaw. No, that part he swears is real, but just as that was real so was his thirst for the extremely rude, if well worn Surly 7. So, things apparently proceeded well, and post coitus she supposedly brought out all the flat earth theory on his tired ass. According to him, he finally told her he had no interest in discussing the topic further. At which point she, allegedly, got furious and left the hotel room.

He was okay with that and glad he used a condom, so he claims.

- Edit Based on the story this may, or may not have happened in New Orleans.
