Our offense. The line. The qb the wrs.  The game plan. The staff.

they are all what the food looks like after you eat it and it goes through the digestive process and comes out.  The food was gas station sushi

I believe the Florida game after all of the OT’s have been exhausted will end in a Zero to Zero tie.

I've linked it to start with Sarkisian.  Drag it back to start if you want to hear Arch.

If any "win" felt like a bad loss, it was this game. Egad

Watching the post game presser.

Sark is at his core a sunshine pusher and not like a Saban or BB and be gruff and off-putting.

This is the most frustrated I’ve ever heard Sark. He seems to have no answers why our starting QB can’t execute the simplest of reads.

He said the schematics aren’t being compromised, and execution is the culprit.

He then says later Arch’s issue is all mental.

This season is probably snot. My fear is this is a festering wound that severely hurts Sark’s ability to recruit offensive talent.

The most hyped QB is modern history being a colossal bust is an extremely horrible look on Sark & co.

Praise be, Pete K.

Did OU’s offensive ineptitude hurt their ability to fix things?

It’s an NIL world and about 90% of conversations and decisions these days center around money.

We finally know why Sarkisian went out and got Caldwell. We were told it was related to concerns with Owens. Now I realize that the dude was watching Arch Knoblauch in practices and scrimmages and realized he needed some form of a backup plan, asap.

Yeah that makes much more sense now. And during the SJSU game when Caldwell was out there smiling and pushing down the field, they panned to a shot of Arch on the sideline and he didn't look happy he was out there. On top of all the pressure Arch has, knowing that guy was probably brought in as insurance for you, isn't going to help with his mental stability.

Two underwhelming (as compared to potential and original hype) QBs in a row. At some point, coaching has to be tossed into the conversation as a mainstream narrative and then we’re really fucked. At that point, what QB with real potential is going to want to come play in this shit show?

If Manning doesn’t get his shit together, Sark needs to make a change and see if the problem is primarily with Arch, or not. That’s the only way to salvage this.

Sark is not a sunshine pumper. He's a fiery guy. He's not going to publicly throw his QB under the bus in a harsh way.

On top of that, Arch has shown himself to be mentally weak so far. The swagger he showed in spots last year has completely gone away and it is infecting the rest of the team.

No one on the team plays with confidence because he looks fucking lost half of the time.

I'm not even seeing players try to fire him up, almost like he's untouchable.

Sunday - Well Past Time

By Bobby Burton

Part of me remains in shock this morning, surprised by the QB play we all witnessed Saturday afternoon.

I did not see it coming, not this level of struggle.

It reached a level of complete ineptness. There were 10 straight incompletions, some that were true misfires, others that were ill-timed, rushed and three or four yards off the mark, one where he didn’t see what should have been his very first read for a first down on a fourth-down play in the red zone and another fourth down play to a wide open Parker Livingston downfield.

The performance left me with so many questions

Is Sark not helping him out enough with play-calling?

Are the offensive line and the run game too inconsistent?

Is Arch being his own worst enemy and getting down on himself after a bad play instead of forgetting about it and moving to the next one? Is his current level of confidence that fragile instead of growing?

Is Arch just this naturally inconsistent? Is the offense as a whole and its players - with eight new starters - too inconsistent?

Or, are the weapons around him just not all that good? After all, Texas was missing its top two RBs and two of its top four WRs.

Three games into the 2025 season, the list above includes far too many questions. And way too few, if any, answers.

**

Texas can survive certain shortcomings at the QB position. Errant throws, happy feet, too few weapons, those are things that almost every QB deals with. Texas has a defense that can win and win big in support of a less-than-ideal offense.

But the sheer lack of self-confidence - or at least the display of it - is probably the most surprising riddle to me of the current Texas quarterback situation.

That lack of confidence compounds itself and causes entire dysfunction on offense.

We’re three games into the year and I still couldn’t tell you what the identity of this Texas offense is or should be.

How does a team overcome a player - the team leader of the offense - who is clearly struggling mentally?

The answer is surprisingly simple.

All Arch Manning and the Longhorns can do from here is get back to work. That’s the grind of the college football season.

**

Arch made some good throws in the second half. The touchdown to Ryan Wingo and the dig route over the middle to Wingo were authoritative and well-delivered.

But Texas needs that level of play on a consistent level.

**

On defense, there are some small issues that could develop into bigger ones down the road.

Jaylon Guilbeau is getting picked on quite a bit. Guilbeau gave up a big catch and run and was beat deep another time and was called for pass interference.

But the defense was clearly dominant overall. Again, this Texas defense can take the team far.

**

Add James Simon as a possible solution at running back if the injury to Cedric Baxter is a prolonged one.

Simon looked significantly better than both Jerrick Gibson and Christian Clark to me.

Yet Texas opted to take Simon out of the game in most passing situations. That tells me the freshman may not be quite ready for pass protection duties.

But it looks to me his timeline needs to be sped up in that regard.

**

We’ve said all along these three non-conference games in the month of September were opportunities to work out the kinks.

Well, it’s well past time that that starts to happen. There needs to be a sense of urgency.

Again, all Texas can do is get back to work.

The Texas Offense - One More Item

By Bobby Burton

The Texas offense currently can’t walk and chew gum at the same time.

That much is clear.

So every time I think it might be because of a lack of offensive ingenuity, I remember that this team can’t do the basics very well. Arch inexplicably fumbles a snap in the red zone.

Given all of that, how is Sark going to be comfortable calling something that requires more finesse?

This is not all on Arch though.

The blocking in the red zone remains leaky at best, especially on the right side. Perimeter blocking is still an issue, as are penalties, as are running backs missing running lanes.

The offense is dysfunctional. How does Texas manage that?

Sark gets paid big bucks to solve such questions.

All this hand wringing about Arch is easily fixable with wins.

It's time to see Caldwell start against Sam Houston , mix in some Lacey and see what we've got.

Teams look different with different QBs , it's weird but it's true.

Arch not only doesn't have IT he cant complete basic passes , he's either broken or not ready and we need to see if someone else is.

Years ago we had Buechelle at the helm , who wasn't even a bad QB. But that team need Ehlinger . The floor of the entire offense raised.

We need to spin the wheel

I wish he'd had the same concern about the rest of his personnel on offense, like OL and RB.

This thought came to me too lol we all thought it was for Owen’s. He tried to warn us! I keep laughing at half of us saying last year to pull ewers for arch, it can’t be any worse!

So apparently it can.

This is just off the top of my head, but I don’t think we had any in the first half? Then a false start early in the 3rd. A PI on Gilbeaux and a chop block called on the defense. And an unsportsmanlike penalty for the stupid thing where they all run over to Bevo after a turnover.

I’ll assume I’m forgetting a couple so I’ll say 6?

Gotta check "Team Stats" instead - 7 for 78.

Gracias.

Second stupid question:  I know Simmons had an elbow brace on before the game.  texassports lists him as a starter but with zero stats.  Did he play at all?  In my defense, I had one eye on the game, one on the food I was preparing for family and several guests, and one eye on my beer(s).  That's right, 3 eyes.

Imagine proposing this back in June or whenever it was we brought in Caldwell.

I read Nahlin swearing a couple of times that Manning didn't look like this in fall camp. It's really hard to imagine, with our offense going up against that defense every day in practice.

I saw him on the field early. He had a pressure on Nelson on 3rd down when UTEP was backed up in their own end zone.

Didn't see him much in the second half.

That is essentially what we are reduced to hoping for….that he does have the physical skills and mental ability to be serviceable, and that he need to (and can) catch up with the speed of the game. FML…

So no Wisner, Moore, January, almost no Baxter (1 snap), and Simmons was limited.  Who am I leaving out?

Oh yeah:  Arch looked like ass on toast.

Then he’s an idiot.  It’s read option/ZR run game with stop routes and out routes and an occasional deep ball.  It’s a grind it out, Ravens style offense.  Take field goals.  Use your punter to flip fields.   This isn’t hard.

That's fair. It's possible I'm just mentally discounting RBs because I'm not certain a backfield of Bijan, Jamaal and D'Onta Foreman would set the word on fire behind this OL

Arch is awful, but our OLine is bad, our WR's are middling, and our RBs are okay.

We need at least a couple of those positions to improve for us to have any chance at winning some SEC games.

Jack Endries and Parker Livingstone can save us. Wonder why they weren't given more reps or had their numbers called more yesterday. They did great against San Jose

Enough with this bullshit yips mental shit. That shit is okay for isolated stretch in a game, not 3 game stretches especially vs bad competition. Arch is in his fucking 3rd year of the system and he’s missing wide open players in the offense, not seeing wide open players in the offense, etc. this is just straight up dog shit qb play
