I’m a believer that most of the team’s struggles are due to QB play. You give Sark a confident, accurate QB, and he’ll destroy defenses.
When it was clear Arch was struggling, it greatly limited the playcalling, and we don’t exactly have a dominant RB.

So, give a so called offensive guru a damn good qb and he’s probably gonna rack up yards? Color me fucking shocked.

Isn’t this the case for any coach? Look at any OC with a QB who is struggling to make quick decisions and missing every throw. That OC will appear incompetent, too. Sark doesn’t need a damn good QB to run his offense, but he needs a reliable one. Arch was not reliable yesterday.

This is Sark hand picked QB who marinated for 2 years.  If he can't pick and develop a QB to be reliable, then that's on Sark the so called QB whisperer.

It’s possible a QB, with one of the most famous names in all of sports, unwarranted talk of being the heisman favorite, and competing in his first road game as “the man”, in one of the toughest environments (OSU, defending national champions, #2 ranked, etc.), had a significant amount of pressure on him…. You think?

I’d venture to guess none of us can imagine that kind of pressure and expectation. Fuck, most of us are obviously nervous as hell just watching a game, much less actually being largely responsible for its outcome.

Arch was bad yesterday, but anyone ready to write him or Sark off following this situation is an absolute idiot. Let’s see how he handles the shitty fans and media dogging him until he plays another worthy opponent. Then we’ll find out what he’s truly made of.

I just don't believe in Sark... he sucks against good defenses and he can't fix red zone after 2 years.  That's the troubling trend.

I was unlucky enough to attend the game today and then go to the Rice game at Lafayette. I know Wisner and Baxter had good avg’s today and played hard. And I know Ohio State has a huge defense. But fuck, how does Rice have more explosive/twitchy running backs than us. What the fuck is going on in the running back room?

The one observation I care to comment on regarding RBs is Wisner needs to quit doing unnecessary “jukes” and just hit the hole full speed. There were multiple instances where there was a clear hole that he “danced” closed or chose to bounce out of for a worse angle.

We lost to the defending national champions, the same way we lost to them last time.  Inability to punch the ball into the end zone.  Going 1-5 on 4th down didn't help, but this team wasn't designed to take field goals, it was designed for touchdowns.  Even if they didn't get them against the defending champions.

The bottom line is we should never have been ranked #1 as we have not proved worthy of such an accolade.  Arch did not play well early.  We also had some catches that were not made, the usual referee calls, and sometimes... the other team is pretty fucking good.

The one thing a non-head coach play caller is good for? Scapegoat...

We are very close to being the team we want to be.  Arch is going to get more and more comfortable.  And now I am not near as werried about Florida as I was last week.  I assumed we would lose this game.  I hoped we would not, and these are the sorts of games that make college football the most exciting sport I know of.  IF Arch isn't sort of dismal early? Who knows... Let's see how the most Hyped and scrutinized kids ever to start as Texas QB, does after his.

Hell Tate doesn't make the recovery catch?  Sometimes... the other guys are good too.... Something coaches tend to remember more than fans.

My man. Sark is a good coach, but CFP Semis is his peak. That's where things stand and will continue to stand. Texas will contend for SEC titles on a regular basis, but Sark just can't get it together in the playoffs. I'm not blaming Sark for the UW loss, that was on the defense especially the porous secondary, but that OSU loss last year and this year are 100% on Sark. Different Quarterbacks, yet the same results. If the aggy had any kind of a competent offense last season that game would've been a loss. The same issues that were blatantly obvious yesterday were obvious in that game as well. The offense would move the ball right down the field, Wisner shredded them. The team would reach the red-zone and they shit their pants and left 21 points off the board due to an inability to score in critical moments. UGA and OSU have shut Sark down completely in the two recent match ups. Do you feel things will be different in Athens this season? I feel like it's gonna be a sobering game for a bunch of folks probably a 17+ point margin of victory in UGA's favor.

Ryan Day’s OC had 200 yards of offense today with two 1st round WRs, the best TE in college football at home with a national championship caliber OL.   They are a bobbled catch from scoring 7 points at home.  Don’t overreact.  Sark has his issues with red zone and he’s shown not to have an ego.  I imagine they are going to work on it a shit ton.   This team is extremely inexperienced and you’re going to see improvement as the season progresses.  Outside of UGA, we’re not going to face another defense like we saw today.  Give the team some time to gel and work through it.

Btw, Grubb whom many consider to be an elite OC, scored 17 on the road against a shitty FSU defense.  LSU is struggling to put up points against the same Clemson defense that Sark ran 300+ yards on.

Some one suggested Malzhan, lmao.  Yeah, the dude would bring Herb Hand with him.  No thank you.  I’m cool with Sark calling plays.  Sucks we lost but I’m okay with being patient and letting him problem solve the offense.

I think he meant last year. Chip Kelly (the OC last year) left . That is what he meant.

I rewatched the game and arch really played poorly there’s no way around it. But sark also called the worst 3 quarters of football since he’s been here. No motion, no misdirection none of the dual layers he ran last year. If he calls this game every big game we lose every time. There was no respect for arches legs. There were 4 or 5 times a zone read ends up a huge gain. I know sark doesn’t want his qbs running you can’t take tools away.   Offensively this game was an f- for arch and sark.

I don’t think we can say this is his peak, Kirby and Day were both here for years before breaking through.  Doesn’t make it any less frustrating. I do think an OC would be better and a dual threat QB too used as one but neither of those are going to happen.

Sark literally won a natty as an offensive playcaller. Believing that giving up playcalling is the answer is lazy and reactionary

And at that time, he was able to focus 100% on his sole job as offensive play caller.  Not so much the case now.

Sark..... might be able to draw plays but he is pure garbage at game time critical situation play calling.

This is generally true, but I thought this was one of Sark’s least imaginative game plans. He was really uninspiring

We ran for 165 on 4.5 ypc against one of the best defenses in the country.

Yes, we do have two dominant running backs.  One is a preseason AA, and the other is probably better.

Whatever mistakes Sark had as a playcaller yesterday probably occurred during the install in the week(s) prior. Not making excuses, but with lots of new faces starting on offense, Sark clearly chose to keep things simple. If he had any special plays up his sleeve, we would have seen them with how game played out. Maybe the lack of pre-snap motion was due to penalty concerns as well.

Arch and the passing offense are much further behind then we thought. We need reps, and the 3 easy games coming up are much needed. I expect quick improvement.

Every OC under Saban did.  He needs someone like Saban to rein him in

Sarks QB development should be in question if anything. Maybe Milwee is not the answer.

Sark play calling wise is not the issue and I’ll stand on that. Arch dirtballing easy WR screens and wide open drag routes aren’t playcalling issues. QB sneak from the 1 yd line with a 6-4 QB should be a TD period. Oline got handled again

You have 4 years of evidence that sark fucking sucks at calling plays in the redzone but sure

What plays should he call? Y’all bitched about the toss last season. Now he calls run plays and a QB sneak and y’all are bitching about that. Seems to me like the OLine needs to nut tf up and get a push

Jump pass to the tight end out of that bunched goal line set

Maybe he’s saving that for OU

He won this “natty” during the 2020 COVID season which was not a typical season. It’s like saying the championship the Lakers won in the bubble was a true ring.
