Pro: We don’t have to play OSU again (until maybe December or January… maybe).

Con: Sark continues to show that he sucks as an in-game play caller and we play Georgia AT Georgia this year.

I thought Liona Lefau was outstanding yesterday.  Love having that guy in the burnt orange.  Outside of him, Graceson Littleton, Jack Endries, and Jack Bouwmeester all played very well.  Really, pretty much everyone on the defense played well.  Liked what I saw from Cedric Baxter in his first game back from injury too.  We pleasently surprised by the OL as well.

Arch was obviously not good, but the TD pass to Livingstone and the long pass to Endries were both really good throws.  I was stunned he missed so badly on the first throw to Moore.

The biggest area of concern coming out the game is the team's inability to score instead the 10 yard line against elite competition.

Didn't notice Ant Hill much at all. Colin flashed multiple times, but Sayin made amazing throws under pressure to keep the chains moving.

Sayin was making better throws under pressure than Arch was making with a clean pocket.

Stroh was possibly our best run blocking guard yesterday.

Just put money on Georgia.  Easy money until proven otherwise.  As they say in Wallstreet, don't bet against the trend.

Pros:

We can now run both IZ and OZ effectively. Maybe its the new interior OL, maybe the threat of Arch running, maybe its just the OSU was worried about how well we ran OZ last year, but whatever the reason, we can now run IZ.

Endries was not as much of a liability as a blocker as people tried to make him be. Very happy with him and he may become a safety blanket for Arch.

Bouwmeester is a MASSIVE improvement

Cons:

Last year Sideshow Bob ruined Sark's belief in kicking a FG and we may never kick one again

Mosley being out makes our youth and lack of experience at WR obvious and allows better secondaries to gang up on Wingo and jam/disrupt the routes of the younger WRs. Moore was not effective.

Defense and promising early play from the OLine gives this team a really high floor. QB play (I think it will come around) and redzone play calling (I am about to give up) will determine its ceiling once again.

For the people who listed the cons of offensive play calling, I have to seriously ask what you mean. This was 99% execution. Receivers were schemed open on just about every play. The passing plays in the red zone offered high percentage options and had the pass that got broken up been thrown on time it's an easy TD and we're praising Sark here

Maybe this is cope but IMO it’s not the worst thing in the world for some of the Texas and Arch hype to cool off a little.

100%
the question is whether an inexperienced QB can grow up enough in half a season and if sark can make it easier on him by taking what the D gives, taking the points and relying on a stellar defense to win games. May not be high flying enough for sark.

You wouldn’t know it from watching us, but it is legal to throw the ball on 2nd and 10.

I'm sure we pass more if Arch isn't throwing bouncing balls in the dirt or air mailing it to the next zip code

I mean, if anything we should move down to #2-3, right? I get on the road, hostile environment and all that, but we looked about as competent on offense as Helobious picking from a lineup by 5 games named Juan.

On the bright side, they didn’t score on us when we were inside their red zone this time. So that’s an improvement.

Pros: lots to be hopeful about, and it's only game one on the road against yada yada. Oh, and Alan Jackson Jr. scored. Haven't spent any time on Surly this weekend but there's bound to be some gold in there.

Cons: naysayers naysayin'

Our running game was very damn solid in terms of success rate. And take away the bomb to Tate, defense surrendered long pass plays of 11 and 16, longest rush was under 10. incredible tackling effort by the defense.

Pros:

- our defense is elite and will only get better. Littleton leaped off the screen to me, he’s special.
- our punter is a weapon, a true game changer.
- our o-line, minus the DT, did mich better than I expected.

Cons:

- RT is a liability, he got whipped all game long.
- we looked slow. No one on the field got any separation at all.
- Arch looked like a first-year 2 star freshman.
- Sark has the coaching yips inside the 10 and it hasn’t gotten better in 4+ years. At some point this is a giant red flag and that point is now.

Definitely agree. Baxter being back to help Wisner was a true blessing. And yeah, that one long ball to Tate absolutely sucked shit. Our defense is incredible, holding both Tate and Smith to less than 100 yards COMBINED, and stuffing their run game (sans one play in the endzone), but damn, the play calling on offense is maddening. I'm flummoxed at what Sark worked on regarding passing with Arch the last 3 weeks. If this were Hudson Card or Casey Thompson I would get it, but Arch was worst case scenario bad.

I dunno, maybe I'm just over thinking it and the hostile environment + first year stater having to carry the weight of his last name on his shoulders messed with him yesterday. Maybe he'll shrug it off and get some confidence these next 3 weeks. I still think we should be dinged at least to #2 and move Ohio State to #1, but that's just me. They won, we lost, regardless of venue.

I'm going to give Baker a pass on this one. OSU D is really good, and he's like 19. He was never going to be Kelvin Banks. That's just me, personally.

Absolutely agree we do, and I do believe he will be better. I can't even fathom being a 19 year old going against future NFL players as your first start. Dude was probably a little shell shocked. Now that he's seen it in action and watched film, I bet he gets much, much better. He's a talented kid and he needs (or really should) live up to his potential.

Pro: Echo the punting—that dude is awesome. May win us a game, Dickson-style.

Con: Not sure we have anybody you have to gameplan for on offense. If Sark has to scheme points every week, gonna be tough sledding. We need some dudes to win one-on-one or RBs who can value-add. Likely this will show up more versus average defenses but against top tier (aka Georgia) we will continue to be limited

Re the punter, I was watching him pregame just booming kicks.  Finally one went off the side of his foot and I thought wow he really shanked that one.  It was a perfect spiral that rolled out of bounds at the 1.

Pros:
Aussie Jack at punter
Run Defense was exceptional
The inexperienced new OL held up really well in pass pro and run game
Littleton
Run game was better than expected considering the opponent and new OL
Endries looks like a player at TE

Cons:
Obviously Arch
Obviously red zone, as always
Pass rush - big shocker to me. I get OSU didn't have many long dropbacks but it seemed like our guys were stonewalled every time I watched them closely. 1 TFL and 0 sacks.
Baker's penalties and that final missed assignment but like others have said, he gets a pass given the circumstance and youth
Stop returning kicks from 7 yards deep you dumbasses

Neutral:
DBs got outmatched by the OSU WRs overall but that's probably the best WR corps in the country and they still held up ok. OSU didn't open it up a whole lot though either.
Hard to judge the WRs from TV
I thought Niblett was fine. He just played it pretty safe which I'm ok with.

Saw OSU played only 3 receivers all game, and half their snaps were 12 or heavier personnel. Dunno how that affects viewpoint.

I'll echo everyone's sentiments regarding Littleton. I'm hoping to see a lot more of him and less of Guilbeau opposite Muhammad. I thought the safeties were solid too

Long read.  So rewatched the game.  I spent way too long today listening to most of the post game chatter etc.  My thoughts below:

1.  Ohio state has some dudes on defense and Patricia showed why he has two superbowl rings as a DC and once led the nfl in scoring defense.  He had Arch in a blender with disguising his coverages.  He took away everything deep and would give man looks only to switch to zone at the snap.  I’m sure us having no film on him gave him a huge advantage.  Caleb Downs showed why he was the best defensive player in all of college football.  Their secondary is the best in the country and they definitely reloaded at edge and LBs.  #8 for them was a monster.

2.  Given everything said above, I thought our OL played fantastic.  They were creating holes for the RBs to run through.  We’re going to pound the rock this year and we’re going to be able to do it against UGA as well.  166 yards rushing was not a bad rushing stat and I imagine we’ll see a similar number again Georgia.  I expect us to run over 200 yards as a team against our other opponents.  We’re going to win a lot of games if we can do that.  I thought they did very well in pass pro.  Arch had all day to throw multiple times in that game.   Oh yeah, we have a badass TE, don’t forget Endries

3.  This defense will carry this team.  Make no mistake, Ohio State is fucking talented on offense and they’re going to be aggressive against every other opponent.  We held the best WR in college football to 4 catches and 43 yards.   We held them to 83 yards rushing in a game where they wanted to run the ball to the tune of 2 yards a rush.  Elite defense.  Oh yeah, welcome to big boy football Grayson Littleton.  You’ll be starting at corner soon buddy.

4.  Our punter is a badass.  Ohio state was pinned multiple times and special teams gave the offense the ball near the 50 on multiple occasions.  Good defense and good special teams will be what we will have to lean on for our future road games.

5.  Sark.  People are really shitting on the guy.  He had multiple man beaters and plays to beat the cover 3 they were playing.  Arch had guys running wide open only to not make the right read, make the throw too late, or make the ball uncatchable.  I liked the gameplan heading into this game for the most part.

Cons:

1 .  Sark.  As much as I thought he did some great things, he’s gotta figure out redzone offense and he needs to let Arch loose.  Arch plays much better when he’s allowed to run.  It took him an entire half to figure that out.  These are fixable things.

2.  WRs.  Completely disappointed in these guys.  Tate made a spectacular catch to win that game.  These guys are going to have to make some plays against elite secondaries.  I know Arch didn’t do them any favors but they didn’t do any for him either other than Jaggy’s badass catch.

3.  Gilbeau.   Dude got burned again.  He got burned in the semi’s and I still have a sour taste about him not making that block on the Barron pick against UGA.  He’s a liability at CB.

4.   Arch.  Dude was rattled.  I’m going to give him a pass for this game due to the circumstances but he needs to learn to put some touch on his throws.  Quinn made layering throws look so easy.  Arch can’t rocket every throw.  He has to anticipate his WRs break into their routes better and put some touch on the ones that need it.  Overall, he made most of the correct reads, missed some open WRs, had some great throws and a lot of bad ones.  He’s going to be good, I have no doubt but he’s got a ways to go before we worship him like VY.

Overall, I feel very good about this team.  Play that game in a neutral field and I’m not sure we don’t win that games. Hell we should have won it given we out rushed them, out passed them, had more 1st downs, and a better 3rd down conversation rate.   I watched Bama get taken to the woodshed, Clemson struggle at home, and I’m watching Notre Dame struggle and about to lose to Miami.  There are no elite teams this year.  We have as good of a shot as anyone.  We knew this was a young team.  8-9 games in, we’re going to be a very different team.  If we can make it past UF, UGA, ou with 1 loss at most, I feel we win out and make a deep run in the CFP.

Hook em!

Cons:

* Arch’s sloppy mechanics. This seemingly came out of nowhere. It’ll be tough to win in Gainesville, Dallas, or Athens with that kind of inconsistency.
* Pre-Snap movement. This was expected. Baker had a solid game, but he will hear from Flood.
* Offensive game plan, Patrica took Sarks lunch money. Arch couldn’t hit the lay ups, probably threw a wrench is some things.
* RedZone. Insane calls. How is this still a thing?
* Teams will draw up shots at Guilbeau, he looks like the weak link in the secondary.

* Penalties continue to hurt this team enough to lose games. OSU’s only legitimate drive was the result of two third and long penalties.

Pros:

* Arch is a big physical mother fucker and he showed he could make big time throws. There’s a lot to like there, I just hope the lights aren’t too big for him.
* CJ. Who would have thought he could give us those kind of snaps in Week 1. He was running over Buckeyes every snap. The explosion is not quite there yet, but he wasn’t slow.
* Offensive Line. As a unit; they had a solid day. They were adequate in pass protection and they looked like the best Texas ground game line in years.
* LBs. Ant had a quiet day on the broadcast but I seen him blowing stuff up constantly. Lefau has always been a dog in the trenches and yesterday was no different.
* TE. Jack came down with everything. He was giving his all in the run game too.

* Littleton. It’s crazy that he was one of the last guys in the 2025 class, I don’t think anyone had expectations for him. He was flying around man. He can accelerate and he’s got good size. Dude played his first college game against NFL receivers and held his own.
* Defensive Line. Maybe not as disruptive as lines of years past. No one is running these guys over though.

Add On anything I Missed.

Pro:  secondary shut down the greatest WR to ever play footballs. Again.
