Had no idea who this was before 10 mins ago. It appears Sasha is a trans musician who was once a contestant on The Voice. And I am now a fan.

None of those teams were honoring him.  They were just too chickenshit to not make mention of him.

By the way, the teams that didn't "honor" him went 4-0 on the weekend.

Because of the brutality of the killing of a pretty prominent person in the minds of a lot of people on this country. I don’t agree with quite a few things he said but I did watch a lot of his videos. Mourning is not a word I would use, but it was a pretty disgusting act that I still don’t think he deserved. Unfortunately, we are rarely able to meet in the middle in this country anymore. We are beginning to look like a 3rd world country with political figures being assaulted and assassinated.

He deserved it.  He wanted it.  He said as much.  I am meeting him where he preached.  He was OK with some deaths as a price to pay for having the second amendment. He rejected our empathy toward his situation and to his family.  He also celebrated political figures getting attacked.  At least that pain in the neck is gone right?   Charlie Squirt would be laughing at this right?  He certainly seemed to lean left at the end!  Har har har..  is this what you want?  Because this type of hideousness is exactly what he preached and practiced.

When one side becomes so extreme they develop their own secret police force, they preach violence and hate, and suppress the vote/free speech/election outcomes of people you don't fucking meet them in the middle.  There is no middle ground between putting people in ovens, pushing families into the river filled with barbed wire only to watch them drown, to splitting up families, to holding trial with toddlers acting in their own defense, and to wrecking the economy for the profit for a few.   What is the middle ground for hate speech?  Only kill a few of us?  Just the trans and gays?  Can we appease them there Chancellor?

One of the bests posts on this thread.  The bolded sentence is truth.

I've been thinking for a while that democracy is fucked as a system of government because people can't handle it.  I don't know if it's because of intentional acts by billionaires or the physical laws of the universe.  Either way, it's not working.

I still maintain that ranked choice voting would fix a FUCK TON of problems.  And then, of course, campaign finance reform, but I don't think either of those are realistic because the people who would have to put those in place are in power and don't want to change the system.

The video in the post I was quoting was short, with very specific examples, but each long enough segments to make the context clear. You tell me, do believe that black women lack the brain power to be taken seriously unless they steal a white man's job? Is that not a reprehensible statement to you? What additional context do you think there is that makes it something other than a horrific example of racism and sexism? Do you think black people wander around in droves and murder white people? Is that something you think actual happens? Do you believe abortion is worse than the holocaust?  Again, what is the context that makes that anything but a horrific statement? Do you actually there is some scheme to replace white people with migrants? Do you actually think we should desire to have a whiter country? That being whiter is, in and of itself, a good? Because Charlie very clearly did and he states it in his own words. Do you think women should submit to men? Do you think that was an appropriate thing for him to tell Taylor Swift to do?

I'd love for you to come on and explain how each of these examples from Charlie's mouth in this short video is misleading, missing context, or valid non-terrible person arguments. Which ones can you justify?

No of course not, that's silly to make a sweeping accusation across all members of a group and from the video above I don't think he does that either. Do I think that Joy Reid, Ketanji Jackson and Sheila Jackson Lee, which were the women specifically called out, to have a "lack of brain power" and wouldn't be where they were without affirmative action, kinda? Do I think that DEI and affirmative action has resulted in people less qualified than others to gain positions of power, promotions etc. outside of those examples? Most certainly, which was the point he was making from what I could tell of the 20 second clip on the topic.

I don't think droves of black people are driving around hunting white people, no of course not. Do I think in the context of interracial murders you are more likely as a white person to be killed by a black person than vice a versa? Yes - and the facts bear that out.  You can call the droves statement a lie if you want and I won't fight you, but there are some truths wrapped up in that discussion that you dont get in a 5 second clip. Do I think it warrants him being shot in the neck, or people dismissing his death as good riddance, nope.  I bet it sure does give permission for a ton of talking heads to just start blanketly labeling him as a racist though.

On the abortion/holocaust comment - he's making a numerical comparison - so by the numbers he is right. I (and I would assume millions of others) really don't think he is meaning to diminish the atrocities of the holocaust and if you were being intellectually honest, you don't think he is excusing or diminishing the holocaust either.

Do I think all women should submit to men, no. Do I think married women should submit to their husbands? That is the teaching of the new testament; but if you met my wife, you would know she doesn't submit in any form or fashion to me and I dont ask it of her. Would we have better marriages if that were the case, maybe, maybe not? I don't know.

My point to all of this was not MY opinion on these statements, it was that I think context and background matters. As much as conservatives pounce on parroting talking points or name calling or shallow analysis of complex issues, I think a lot of people blanketly stating that Charlie Kirk was a hateful, racist, misogynist, transphobe etc. should probably be scaled back a bit.  Dollars to doughnuts, many of these people have not thought through his perspectives/ideologies with an open mind and are just parroting opinions from others that want to shut down someone they don't like or see eye to eye with.

So, it's wrong to shoot someone for expressing a contradictory opinion (and I agree).

But it's not wrong to kick someone out of a public university, a spot that they earned and are paying for, for expressing a contradictory opinion?

Y'all really don't see the bright red flashing hypocrisy here?

This we are in agreement on - I don't really understand the justification for this.  Make her famous for being an idiot, expose her nastiness and then move on. Abbott is an idiot and I wonder if Texas Tech will have a lawsuit or settlement to deal with down the road.

How about the VP calling for government funded thought squads who will go around and seek out inappropriate speech, from one side of the political spectrum only.

Here's some context:
A veiled threat to stone transpeople by justifying it through the Old Testament, while criticizing someone for being tolerant of transpeople who justify their tolerance from the New Testament Christ's command to love your neighbor as yourself. Then, the second post where he angrily shouts to that audience that someone is an abomination to God.

These aren't soundbites with short clips taken out of context. Maybe -phobe is the wrong suffix, but then again, fear is at the heart of hate. And Kirk clearly hated transpeople.

I was on vacation when this happened and was pretty shocked not only by the NYT headline that flashed on my phone, but my reaction.  I actually felt sick.

Here is a paraphrasing of what I told my friends when they asked about it:

"I am shocked and actually feel really icky about this.  Violence like this is not ok AND, not BUT, AND this is exactly what happens when the right stokes the flames for a decade with violent rhetoric."

I love when people think they know something. Nick Fuentes is gay. In fact Fuentes and Destiny supposedly had a leaked sex video out there though I am not looking for it. Nick briefly dated a catboy named catboycami. He even made a video explaining how he was forced to abandon catboy.

Here is Fuentes on a video'd date with CatboyKami. In my efforts to put this together google returned explicit pics of him sucking a huge black dildo.

Here is what Grok say if you ask it if Fuentes is Gay

Again. These extremist don't always follow the path that you think or want them to. So if the leader of the Groypers can have sex with transwomen and men, why are you trying to use the shooter's roommate as proof this dude wasn't influenced by groypers? Clearly by the language on the ammo and some of his meme costumes he was. Also the silence from leadership, who want nothing more but to pin this on someone is telling.

@Enchubben, can I ask a hypothetical? I'm your neighbor and every day my dog poops in your yard. Every time I see your family I call your wife whatever insult you can think of. Every time we talk I tell you how unimportant you are. When I see your kids I tell them your not even less of a man but less of a human. Just every interaction we have as neighbors leaves you shaking with rage. Because every time we interact, I just say the most hateful shit about you, your family, your job, house, etc. And your other neighbors say its just words. But every. Single. Interaction. Is so horrible because I just keep trying to grind you down.

You eventually lose it and smack me one. Should I be surprised that you did that? Should I run to SM and say First Amendment? No, I deserved it.

End of the day, in that hypothetical situation, I deserved it. And I should have never been surprised to have my nose broken.

To your second point, I dated a well-educated, smart, teacher, who is a Jewish woman that was all in on Trump for the second time. The context of the conversation was about trans kids and I asked her what she would do if her son came out trans. Her answer: he won't come out trans. She then asked me what I would do if my daughter came out trans and with no hesitation: still love my kid

I'm not patting myself on the back but I have my personal story that shows the difference. We aren't dating anymore.

Kirk called for Biden to be executed. I'm sure Enchubben will have an explanation for why that was fine, actually.

And Enchubben is fine with this.

And see, Enchubben is very, very, very concerned about inflammatory political rhetoric, and anyone who speaks such inflammatory rhetoric is a no good very bad person.  ESPECIALLY when that rhetoric can be tied directly to acts of political violence.  So, all the people calling Kirk a fascist and a racist are very bad people who fanned the flames of violence.

But when Kirk repeatedly and consistently referred to immigrants as invaders., AND a man inflamed by that exact rhetoric, stating as his actual purpose and reason stopping the "invasion" and eliminating the "invaders," drove to El Paso and murdered 22 people for that reason....well, see, that's different.  When Charlie says that, he was just speaking his mind, and you know, all those brown people ARE invading 'merica (nevermind that my family has been in this state since it was Coahuila y Tejas).  But when other people say "that Charlie dude is racist," THEY are the REAL problem.

Enchubben is a card-carrying subscriber to Wilhoit's law: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

That was Charlie Kirk's entire belief system in a nutshell.  Black people were better off when they lived under Jim Crow (yes, another thing that Charlie actually said).  It's good for that out-group to have been under a system of laws that bound them, but did not protect them.  THAT IS A GOOD THING TO CHARLIE KIRK.

Enchubben is fine with all of this, because that's what he believes, and what he is.

Enchubben will say he's not fine with the slaughter of 22 people in El Paso, but you can't pin that act on the inflammatory rhetoric of Charlie and those like him who used the same terms (even though there is no doubt as to the connection - again, the killer wrote a fucking statement that used the exact same vocabulary).  However, you CAN pin Charlie Kirk's murder on the "inflammatory rhetoric" of people calling someone who said Jim Crow was better for black people a racist.  It's not complicated.  Rules for thee, not for me.  Wilhoit's law.
