Just stopped working on my Android TV.  Wont even load.  I’ve rebooted everything and reinstalled the app.  Updated all software.  It just won’t start.  Even when it used to work it was crap.  Slow and laggy with a crap user interface.  I do believe it is the worst streaming service out there.  Maybe one designed by a community college vocational school might be worse.

HBO Max in its various incarnations/renamings has been the worst app experience for me.

Hulu has been surprisingly decent, given how shitty ESPN streams are.

This. Overall it is awful and crashes at least once every time I try to use it.

I never had any of these apps, but I would have done the same thing you did if I had been. I only have Britbox, AcornTV and PBS Masterpiece. Those apps are all worth it to have.

How many of you are using the apps on your tv vs separate hardware like an Apple TV? Getting off the pos TV operating systems will solve a lot of your problems

I never bought a new TV once I moved. I watch everything on my laptop. Kinda got used to it and found I don’t miss a TV. You are probably correct though about how these apps would work better on a TV.

Why do y'all pay for these shit apps when you can see all of it no charge? Allegedly...

I kinda miss cable.  Just a little.  At least it worked.

What source hardware are you using? The answer on all these threads is the same. Get an Apple TV

Yeah, I don't get these threads either, and I mostly use the apps on my LG TV. Some of the interfaces suck and it's harder than it should be to find something but once I hit play I never have a problem. That's across Netflix, Hulu, Max, Prime, Disney, ESPN, fuck I have too many subscriptions....

I should probably say that my experience is over a long haul and includes Android apps casting as well as browser-based.  I have an older Sony whose smart functions no longer function and an LG that's pretty good OS and app-wise, an OG Chromecast and a Chromecast/Google TV.

I got that.  I'm surly 1%.

The apps are just kinda slow and laggy and it takes forever to switch from amazon prime to watch football and then youtube TV to watch baseball etc.  I kinda miss the old days when you could flip from channel 432 to 435.  I'm also not convinced any of this is any cheaper.  It feels like I need 18 streaming packages to watch NFL games and TV drama.  That used to be HBO, ESPN, AMC, CBS, Fox.  Get off my lawn.

I have a friend/coworker who went to do some product mgmt stuff with Hulu and I still text him pictures of my tv with “WTF” every now and then. It’s bananas how bad that app is (fire stick).

There’s your issue. There’s essentially only 3 devices that don’t have constant app issues and crash issues.

Apple Tv

Nvidia ShieldTV

Roku Ultra

I have had some issues with Roku ultra occasionally but most of those I imagine are due to it running its own OS.

Yeah I blame crashes on the stick. But there’s just bad UI. Like, when you choose profiles, it scrolls the list down as you select and names disappear off the top of the list.  But if you’re already logged in as the 2nd or 3rd profile, when you go to the profile selection screen the first couple of names are already invisible. And so it looks like the profiles are just not there, unless you press up on the remote and scroll the list back down, revealing the hidden profiles. This is just basic user stuff that should have been found before launch and it has been in the app for 5+ years.

Even if Apple TV only functioned so-so, it's still worth every damn penny to not see a single ad or banner on the home screen of my television.

Oh I think my least favorite is Peacock. It NEVER holds your place on an episode and it rarely auto plays to the next episode of the show you’re watching - it picks an entirely different show entirely to auto play

I was binging the George Lopez Show and it kept trying to auto play episode 1 of season 3 of Lopez vs Lopez. Never watched that show, so unsure why it kept thinking I was on season 3
