Is this guy a speedster? We need more speed at the RB position.

I would argue that a “get me one yard guy” is way more important.

not every time, you know what I mean…I hope.

He spent his first two years playing for Lampasas. He’s a really good downhill runner that takes on contact willingly. Some backs try to always avoid it, but he likes to take hits. Teams need guys like this that are big and having surprising speed in the open field. Had he stayed at Lampasas the last two years for them would have looked a lot different. Good for this young man in securing a spot with Texas. He has earned this offer on the field through getting better every year.

He also has a former teammate in Ty Johnson that also left Lampasas. Johnson is probably the best athlete to suit up for the Badgers since Johnny “Lam” Jones, but he transferred to Crean Lutheran in SoCal this past spring where he’s now a 4 Star WR and a top 10-15 player in California for 2027. Why Texas has not formally offered him as well is a bit of a mystery since Oregon and Georgia both have.

coach on the field, lunchpail type.

For his size he’s got pretty good speed. I’m glad he will get a chance to play for the Horns. It doesn’t work out, well, go play for ASU. I think he’ll be fine at UT though.

On a more serious note, RB is a position where you can actually tell from the stands whether the player has the potential to be a top college or nfl back. I’ve never seen Walker play live. I saw Burkhead back in the day and immediately knew he’d be a very good college back and possibly an nfl back. If anyone has seen him play live, I’d be interested to hear what they thought.

Pony Express redux in Austin. We already had Eric Dickerson committed, now we just got Craig James.

We have a very thin room though, needed this guy with Rickey Stewart and Jerrick Gibson bailing, and Baxter losing all of his God given athleticism and burst from injuries.

If Wisner goes pro, we basically only have Simon and Clark. We need these two guys and then a proven guy in the portal. Gotta have a credible running attack next year.

Getting Walker was likely low cost, and he's got the right mindset to come in and make the most of his opportunities.

Just watched his highlight tape for the first time. His highlights are mostly him running through gigantic holes at the LOS to the end zone. I, uh, don’t know how well that skill will translate at the next level. You watch a McCaffrey high school highlight tape or a Skatteboo one and you could tell they were freaks and would be special. This guy looks like Brett Robin 2.0

I think I prefer Minnesotas other RB commit out of El Paso. Walker looks like a solid specimen though that wants to be here. Him and Coop are probably going to get a lot of run next season if they can pass block.
