We’re losing the Morgan Freeman of our receiving corps. Not good

More like the Chris Cooper or Gary Sinise of our receiving corp.

Hey I like Gary Sinise. He always looks how I feel (very tired)

Damn, that might be a Baugh and a second back and another wide receiver kind of money or more.

$4 million sounds stupid.

Then again, so is Kurt Bohls, so I'm not sure I believe it.

Well, like Gary Sinise, maybe Livingstone goes on to have multi-year sitcom money and fame while never really getting the accolades he deserved because he didn't stick it out with the big boys.

We need 7-8 starters on both sides of the ball because of transfers. Most we have ever lost to the transfer portal in school history. Gonna have to spend a fuck ton

Yeah, but he drops too many passes.

We do not need 7-8 defensive starters

Sark is targeting Wingo because he wants to keep him happy. Sark isn't a "best guy gets the ball" guy. As much as we liked Rojo, he shouldn't have been playing in front of Brooks. Wisner was superior to Baxter. Everyone can see Wingo struggling to play the position, yet we keep throwing him the ball and relying on him on money downs even though he fails more times than he succeeds. My issue is Sark's small rotation.

Ehh. Wingo is the big play threat at WR. Sure he got more opportunities than most but it’s not like those other guys were setting the world on fire either. Based on what we’ve seen thus far Mosely is probably the best pure WR but he is more of a possession guy. I can understand going boom or bust with Wingo.

I didnt say we did. We need 5 starters on offense and 2 on defense, easily. And 1-2 on special teams

We actually need 11.

Ah who gives a fuck. It's not my money. You want to win. This is the price of admission.

pocket change for surly 10%!

Indiana has taken 50 the last 2 years.

Truly. I hate it. Is he worth $4m?

From a productivity standpoint we just lost our most efficient receiver. As many yards as Moore with roughly 10 less catches and 2 more TDs. From a freshman.

That is not how WR efficiency is measured. Feels like a heavy loss nonetheless.

You can either get portal guys like Indiana got because of the JMU connection or you pay out the ass for it. What is a shot at a title worth? This is the stupid wild wild West we're dealing with. We have guys who should be cornerstone players like Wisner and Livingstone deciding that sharing PT or not getting "their fair share" is more of a priority than being a part of possible greatness. We're Texas. We have more money than anyone. Then spend it. Fuck it.

I'm assuming that money comes out of the capped funds? if so, that's a lot on one player, at a position where you need multiple

As Sark said, no one is policing it. Spend away.

Agree on the 4 million. Especially since he’ll be targeted only about 7-8 times a game vs touching the ball on every offensive down (i.e. QB)

Wingo has a couple screen passes that he busted vs mediocre teams. What has he shown vs quality teams ever that makes you think he deserves the ball as much as he gets it? Throwing to him as much as we do has lost games for us.

What has the other guys shown? Like it or not Wingo was our best option for big plays in the passing game, and while at times he failed he also converted first downs on crucial downs as recently as yesterday. I get it that you are down on Wingo but what was the alternative? And I’d push back on him ever being solely the reason for us losing any of those 3 games. That is an extreme exaggeration.

Who was our best receiver vs Ohio State? The guy that just left. Wingo was busy dropping passes when we needed him to be a dog. He had double digit targets vs Georgia and caught 9 balls for only 62 yards. Plus we ran him on end arounds twice and he made no one miss and gained 2 yards. Everyone remembers the drag route on 3rd and gotta have it where he dropped a sure 1st down going in right?

Wingo hasn't made a play that other receivers couldn't make. His best play is a catch in the back of the endzone, all alone.

He is fast, but he doesn't catch deep balls. Doesn't win 50/50 balls. Doesn't make people miss. Falls with the smallest contact.

We might not think much of Livingstone but he has been the only receiver to consistently catch deep balls. how many does Wingo have for all the targets?

Edited by Thatguy

Didn't Wingo have a 75 yard TD pass based on YAC from scrimmage on the first play of the Vanderbilt game?

Ship caught 27 balls for 417 as a Sophomore. You never know. What I see is a kid who, while he has some drops, has good speed and has been the only dude winning 50/50 balls downfield for us.

And he wants to leave.

So let him leave. We'll be OK.

You are missing the point.

I think we're going to regret this one , but i say this not knowing anything about what he was asking for

Sucks to lose some consistent depth

Seems like some of yall are happy with top 15 production. We need a major overhaul especially on offense to be the best next year, we weren’t even knocking on the door this year. OL is obviously a majority JAG unit, Wisner JAG, Livingstone JAG, Moore JAG, quite frankly Wingo is pretty close to JAG level, and we can all like what they did but this team isn’t playing tonight or next week, a lot of folks need to sit down or leave. It’s just the way it is.

All we can do is focus on the guys who want to be here as the rest is out of our control. I think it's silly to leave a team with a QB like Arch for the great unknown of a perpetual under .500 team out west that no one ever watches but maybe I'm just the asshole here who doesn't get this new world or why leaving a guy like Arch is a smart thing because you're not getting paid enough as a soon to be 2nd year WR who was getting a fuckton of passes sent your way this year.

Maybe he just wants to go to a better school.

/ducks

Then he came here to play school. Do not want.

Makes me more impressed with Cig. Having a solid culture with that much turnover. We know Sark likes shiny skill player toys that may or may not be a culture fit.

Better invest top dollar for GCG.

This third? year of the transfer portal feels more chaotic. I suspect the number of schools willing to payout has increased, the agents have had time to learn the game, and more players have more monetary options. With more schools getting comfortable with spending, I predict you can expect bidding wars and higher salaries at a level we haven’t seen previously. And not just for the top talent

What did he do vs Georgia, Ohio State, and Florida? You know, when we needed our big number 1 receiver to step up. 15 for 170 and 2 TDs. Or 11.3 yards per catch for our "big play" receiver. How did the other receivers do in those games? Parker- 6-111-1TD, Deondre- 10-156, Mosely- 5-106.
