Right, didn't mean to imply that.  I was more trying to say Ukraine needs standoff weapons to engage those bombers, as they're not penetrating Russian air space without unacceptable losses.  And we're not giving them those types of systems thus far.

We do not have any anti-air missiles that I'm aware of that are capable of reaching that distance.

And a few batches of M1 Garands thx

On an unrelated note, that Russian ammo a few posts up looked like absolute shit.

Speaking of old guns, this guy has put out a series on the guns he's seeing on videos.  NSFW for language

Fuck that.

Agreed. It's an empty threat. How many dozens of times has that supposedly been the Russian red line, only to find out they are full of shit? Spoiler alert, they are full of shit. They are always full of shit. If Russia is constantly squawking about something, they are lying.

Putin is a coward. He doesn't want to die. Look at his Eternity Tables for any meetings. Even if he did, his subordinates know the war is lost. Anyone who follows an order from Putin to use nukes will be a pariah and tried at the Hague if they ever leave Russian territory. That's if they even survive the retribution.

The West would respond proportionally to the nuke militarily, but we would crush what remains of the Russian economy. Sanctions would make sure no one, but Iran, North Korea and Belarus will trade anything with him.  In contrast, Ukraine would get a bunch of fancy new toys.

Nukes work best as a threat, because you can only shoot the hostages once. Use a nuke and Putin is out the last of his leverage. Unfortunately for Putin, he's used the threat so many times, it's lost any value.

The "fresh invasion of Kyiv early next year will see 200,000 new troops invading" does seem to be fearmongering to get the West to stop supplying weapons.

The correct response would be to officially announce we are sending 200,001 bullets early next year.

Also, @InkaUtexas what is the value of sending military trainers from nations like Cambodia to train the Ukrainians who are approaching a year into this?  I tend to think it is mostly symbolic/political rather than a lack of technical proficiency on the Ukrainians part at this point.   However, I could be wrong as I could imagine they need to pull people back from the front lines and find specialist roles for some of them or for newer recruits/mercenaries.   But this is all just a guess on my part.

They are offering, we are not sending. And if you look at demining Tech is not always the answer. Someone has to walk that field after machines, etc. Cambodia has experience, they are going to be cheaper than Americans or Brits.

Case in point. We were converting an ex Russian Air base in Afghanistan for a business park. The Brits went in with equipment and cleared 90%. Then our team (Afghans with South African dog teams) went in. The amount of shit they found.

Made for a fun BOOOOOOOMMM at the end of the day for about a month. Demining is hard. The countries mentioned have a lot of experience. And not just mines, but UXO. Bosnia knows how to clean up apartments, the Salvadorans and Cambodians rural areas. I would say they both bring different skill sets.

Just have Russian POW's walk shoulder to shoulder through the fields.

No.  You ( being Ukraine ) do not create an widely disseminated program for Russian soldiers to defect, and then, when they do, essentially murder them in contravention of the Geneva Convention.

NATO is not Russia. Ukraine is not Russia. Fuck the Russians! But as to this kind of talk, just simma.
