Dude....their coms didn't work in Ukraine because they were still 3g. They definitely aren't above Morse code. Shit....they will probably break out an enigma any day now.

In a gamechanging move, the Russian units in the field have shifted completely to using the following super-secure, high-tech device:

They should arrive in theater any day now, probably waiting in line behind the incoming shipment of Franklin Mint Little Rascals collector plates (in these sanctioned times, the Russians cleverly went for a sure-fire store of value).

Seems like a semi-big deal.

Vitol Group, the world’s top independent oil merchant, will stop trading Russian crude oil and products by the end of the year, a source with knowledge of the situation told CNN.

The Dutch energy and commodities trading company will also not enter into any new Russian crude and product transactions, the source said.

Vitol declined to comment beyond confirming the accuracy of an article published by Bloomberg, which reported the news earlier.

The International Energy Agency estimated on Wednesday that supplies of Russian oil will drop by 1.5 million barrels a day in April, and could fall by as much as 3 million a day from May as buyers turn away.

“While some buyers, most notably in Asia, increased purchases of sharply discounted Russian barrels, traditional customers are cutting back,” the agency said. “For now, there are no signs of increased volumes going to China.”

Might want to toss in some Life Alerts in with those.

Did it? That's the one with all the cats right? If so I loved that place, sad to hear it closed down.

At one time, had a Huey rotor blade, some other helicopter stuff, and some WWII stuff up on their walls.

In the 80s, it had lots of surplus NATO 1960s-era equipment as well.

I loved that place.

Morse code? I think I knew who sent the message.

I know you read it on the internet so it must be true. But at least part of it is bullshit. Morse code in 2022?

The US Navy likely still uses Morse code in flashing light communications.   At least we did in the 90’s.   Not often, but signalmen trained on it.

But yes the Morse code thing makes no sense. For radio or other comms they would have used.

Forbes from January

Think of Moskva as a 12,500-ton, 612-foot mobile missile battery with nearly 500 people aboard. She packs enough anti-ship missiles to wipe out the entire Ukrainian navy and enough air-defense missiles to swat away any conceivable aerial attack on the Black Sea Fleet’s amphibious flotilla.

Yeah about that

eta it (was) a pretty old ship and per wiki underwent a 10 year refit from 1990 to 2000. What would the replacement cost be for that type of ship?

Andrew Callaghan of Channel 5 News (formerly All Gas No Breaks) did some honest to god war reporting from Lviv. Incredible strength of those people to keep on living their life despite the air raid sirens and active war

God those buildings and streets are cool. Fuck Russia in the goat ass.

Lulz

Fucking Russian trolls got these flagged on Twitter as age-restricted content. Anything embarrassing to them, they mass report.

Apparently, losing their flagship, which is named after their capital, is hitting them every bit as hard as you'd hope it would.

If this is all true, they are going to have to keep their ships out of missile reach, which is going to degrade their anti-air along the coast.  They apparently relied pretty heavily on those ships for the S-300/S-400s.

Yeah it pretty much acted as a US AWACS system. Now with that massive radar support gone...
