LAS VEGAS (January 10, 2022) — Legendary New York Steak House Peter Luger is coming to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas at the end of 2022. This marks the first domestic expansion in over sixty years for the Michelin-starred restaurant, which opened its doors in 1887 and is commonly known as New York City’s original steak house. It will be their first U.S. location outside of New York.

They were refreshing the rooms in the Nobu hotel and apparently that is done. Also redoing the front entrance to the casino and haven’t seen any updates on that lately but surely someone on here walked in recently.

Also the new Adele show is about to kick off soon but assume they didn’t make many if any changes outside of the theater.

Mrs.LL and I are going to the Adele show in early April.  Perhaps by that time the construction will be done.

She is adamant that we stay at Caesars, since that is where the show is.  So any suggestions on rooms?  Should I get a room at the Nobu?  Or just go with a deluxe room in one of the towers (and, if that, which of the towers are preferable)?

Dig around the website and check the room details. My last trip at Caesars we stayed in the same tower as the meeting so that tower elevator opened right into the meeting space which was really convenient.

So if you will be using the pool every day, there are two towers more located near that (it’s in the room details). Or if none of that matters and you like the look of the Nobu rooms, go for it, think those are priced higher.

My suggestion would be to book a regular room and then when checking in ask about upgrade options. If available they can upgrade you for a better price and we grabbed a nice high floor suite with good views.

Assume the wife wants to stay on property to wear heels to the show. Been out there many times with the ladies dressed up and while that helps a little bit, they still have to walk quite a bit and end up complaining later on anyways. But you can’t really go wrong staying at CP, iconic property with center strip location.

Oh, don't worry--I know that's part of the deal going in.

A month ago, we went to New York.  Before departing, she told our daughter that she couldn't take her new boots "because you never wear new shoes to walk around the City."  So what does Mrs.LL do?  Of course she brings her new boots and complains about how badly her feet hurt.

Anyone been to the Mastros location recently in Vegas? I believe it’s in the Aria.

Some Mastros locations are great and others are just okay. Thoughts on this one?

At any point in which you find yourself pondering eating at a Landry's establishment, even if it's one they purchased more recently than not, just remind yourself that Fertitta and crew are actively turning that restaurant into an overpriced, low quality shit hole.

I had a bartender sass me at Mandalay Bay a few years back and lost it. The guy first tried to correct my buddy about what a fucking martini is, as though that were necessary. Yes, asshole, we all know the original term "martini" was for gin. Fuck off. Then, when we were attempting to close out to head over to a dinner reservation, the guys double charged us drinks and when I tried to point it out to him, he told he wasn't wrong and to pay the bill or he'd have us tossed. I almost climbed over the fucking bar.

None of it was merited, we were a group of guys trying to have a drink and bullshit for a few minutes before heading to the steak place there, and we were relaxed and happy in that setting minding our own business and treating servers with respect. Anyway, other bartenders came to our defense and removed the drinks and comped some others. I can definitely understand the impulse to throw a drink at a fucker like that. It's one of those bizarre jobs in which the person in the role has a fully unmerited and outsized view of their skill and value. I say that as someone who has tended bar, waited tables, and bussed tables for a living.

If it makes you and your wife feel any better, I bough brand new shoes and wore them to complete a marathon.  Not only that, but I also put new inserts (for flat feet) in them the morning of the race.  /bad idea jeans

I like to go to different spot each visit. We went to Joe’s in the Caesar forum shops this time. Outstanding!

Joes is my favorite restaurant. The original is in Miami but they have one in Chicago as well.  I’ve been to Vegas and Chicago. Always great food steak or sea food

Anyone ever done the electric-bike-to-Red-Rock adventure?  Wife just booked it.  I'd rather ride a regular bike, but whatevs.

Haven’t done that specific bike tour but been out to Red Rocks a few times and it never disappoints. Highly recommend to those who have exhausted most of the Strip activities and looking for something different. I’ve seen all kinds of groups out there on bicycles, motorcycles, runners, 3/4 wheelers etc

Only about a 20 min trip from the Strip.

Eaten there once, but did not get steak.  I'm sure it was great.

Sidenote:  got a pair of King Crab legs to go with dinner; I was feeling hungry.   Those bastards were huge.  Waiter opens them up for you table side, so there's no work in eating them.

I ate one and was miserable.  What to do with second crab leg; I figure why not take it with us and hand it to someone on our stroll back to Wynn, so the waiter boxed it up.  I couldn't get rid of the damned thing; even the homeless folks on the overpass didn't want it.  One guy was all excited, then told me he had a shellfish allergy. I ended up throwing it in a trash can.

Yeah, I'd go back, but I'll skip out on the crab claws appetizer.

I don't think the one in Miami is the same Joe's. Website says locations in Vegas, Chicago and DC...

The one in Miami...

Unless they split off from the original or something?

The wife and I are taking our sons for their birthdays (one turned 25 and the other is about to turn 21) in two weeks. boys have never been. Wife and I have been 7 or 8 times.

I want to take boys to a show. Has anyone been to Beatles Love?  None of us are huge Beatles fans, but I figure the show would probably be cool. What I read about O sounded really cool, but it’s about double the price. We aren’t surly rich, and I’m basically just wanting the boys to experience a Vegas show, so not really wanting to spend more than I need to.

Absinthe for sure, if y'all have dirty senses of humor and don't mind being around your kids for sex jokes. We took our kids and all had a blast. That said, I've seen Love and enjoyed it and I'm not a Beetles fan. It's full of good music and visuals. Once was enough though.

way back in the day, I vaguely recall an all afternoon mechanical horsey marathon at some random casino (IP?) . The shit talk was flying, tips and hence drinks were flowing, and we got impressively tanked. I guess there's only one of these left in Vegas. Shame.

THE D LAS VEGAS SIGMA DERBY

“Come on Lucky Number 4!” A common phrase heard around the Sigma Derby table found on the second floor of the D Las Vegas Casino. This 34-year-old game was a staple in most casinos and is a star attraction at the D. Currently, it is the only one remaining in the city. Sigma Derby is a beautifully-crafted track game that includes 5 mechanical horses. All you have to do is bet which horses will be first and second. Sounds easy, but betting can only be placed with quarters.

Before the game starts, you choose which horse you think will win and have the chance of betting odds that range from 2-1 to 200-1. You then have 30 seconds to put in your quarter, then after that, the gears and motors take over while you sit back and cheer. Located around the game are 10 stations for people to gather and cheer on their lucky horse. Come check out this novelty game and hopefully win big while making some new friends.

Played the obviously more updated version of this at bellagio. I hit on betting what 2 horses would place 1st and 2nd. They were 962-1 and I had $1 on it. Good times csb

My first memory of the famous Sigma Derby game was many many years ago . . .

There was this dude named VY. He was pretty good. So Sushihorn (yeah that guy) and I flew to Vegas for the Rose Bowl and rented a car to go watch Texas defeat Michigan in a great game. Back then, we frequently stayed at MGM Grand as Sushihorn was quite a craps baller so I would piggyback off his comps. Free rooms/food/shows/etc.

For some reason upon our return to Vegas, I wake up early and hit the gaming floor of MGM Grand around 7am and discover a really cute blonde 20/21 year old girl playing Sigma Derby all by herself, wearing burnt orange. So I ease my way up to the game and find out she is undergrad sorority girl at UT and her friends were asleep (as was Sushihorn) but she’s been playing the game for hours. She said she couldn’t quit. Will never forget seeing her sitting up against that table clutching a big plastic cup full of quarters and itching for the next race to begin. It’s quite fascinating to watch actually. She and her 3 sorority sisters had road tripped to Vegas, drove from Texas.

I sat down and played with her for awhile and it was an easy transition to tell her we would be happy to buy her and her friends breakfast when everyone was up. Felt like scenes out of the movie Swingers as we were all eating at the 24/7 restaurant at MGM Grand and then later that night partying at a booth at Studio 54 (I think that’s what it was called back then), me and Sushi and 4 cute UT sorority girls. Yadda yadda yadda it was such a great trip that we declared then and there we were absolutely coming back to Vegas in one year if/when Texas make the National Championship game. So we were ready to jump all over that same itinerary when we were announced to match up against USC. Two amazing trips. So, all time shout out to Sigma Derby may it live forever. I need to get downtown and see it again some time, maybe a nice young lady will be playing it . . .
