Wiltfong hasĀ a Shepherd update in the aggy boards if anyone has it.

Iā€™m getting strong Texas A&M vibes regarding four-star offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd who took his official visit to College Station over the weekend. The Houston (Texas) North Forest blue-chipper has been a verbal to Texas dating back to July. Sources around the Aggies program have felt good about Texas A&Mā€™s position with Shepherd and that grew over the weekend. One source is more worried about upcoming visits to Alabama and Georgia than the Longhorns.

Meanwhile, around the Texas program, a source still feels good about Shepherd sticking with the Longhorns. They will get the last official visit on Feb. 1. That caveat is keeping me from putting in the 247Sports Crystal Ball flip forecast at this time. Georgia is slated for this weekend and Alabama is slated the next weekend. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite ranks Shepherd as the nationā€™s No. 30 offensive tackle. Shepherd plans on making his final decision on National Signing Day, Feb. 6. Texas A&M currently has the nation's No. 3 recruiting class while the Longhorns check in at No. 9.

Ā

Shepherd is going to aggy and has been for weeks now.Ā  This is all a side-show orchestrated by Lord Footwork to lead to a SHOCK THE WORLD!!1! flip on NSD.

Geography bias in rankingsĀ Ā ...

25 of the top 50 recruits on 247Ā composite are from sec footprint (FL, GA, MS, AL, LA,Ā SC). Ā

How is this possible?

They care more about football than other parts of the country and consistently produce great athletes. It's not really that far away with the final number who make it to the NFL.

EDIT: As @satyanash said below, they do badly underrank Texas as a state, though.

If we really want to implement Huck's style of attribution, we will find that recruiting info really only comes from a handful of people who actually get first hand info. 95% of this shitty industry just repackages, orĀ fabricates, someone else's info anyway.

Mike Farrell is a disinterested pushover with relatively little pull at Rivals. Texas kids are underranked in general there.

If Owens ends up ranked higher than Williams and/or Demani the aggy boards will have a full meltdown.

We'll need ESPN to update their rankings for that to happen.Ā  but even with just the Rivals update he should jump into the top 100.Ā  Ā 247 still has one more update - might be looking at a top 75 prospect when Feb hits.

100% agree with this.Ā  He's a signing day flip with the purpose of giving the Ag'tards some faux momentum.

This. Orchestrated to give aggy a signing day flip over Texas but everyone on the Texas side has known for weeks.

Someone gave enough of a shit to post the rankings update here. Soooooooo....... ļ»æ

It gives us something to talk about, but everyone knows they're the worst service. Also when aggy's doing things like making 5-star (lol) safety Erick Young play cornerback, it's not exactly frightening talent maximization.

Dang Ishmael Sopsher dropped 54 spots.Ā  I noticed Owens and Liebrock had a "-" by where they were ranked, does that mean they weren't previously in the top 100?Ā  I don't remember them in the top 100 last time.

I wish Rivals had gone under and been sold to CBS Sports instead of Scout. The Scout guys actually knew what they were doing and put real effort into scouting and evaluations. Rivals has been coasting for many years and their site used to always crash on NSD before the introduction of an early NSD lightened the load.

Just saw Tom Herman and Oscar Giles at foster high in Richmond. I didn't know there was anyone on their radar there.Ā

Real question is why you are hanging out at a high school at 3:00 in the afternoon on a Tuesday. And another question is why you didn't invite me.Ā

Yeah, Iā€™d say scout was the second best contributor to the composite behind 247. Losing Scoutā€™s input/rankings sucked and somehow it seems 247ā€™s rankings have gotten worse since they merged. And yet, even with all that, ESPN and RivalsĀ are still somehow a distant second and third.
