I never know if I like it better when people get the joke, or when they don't, because I like both scenarios so much. So thank you.

Too short, didn't read.

So I've been working on this for the last few weeks and I must say I'm pretty excited about what I've put together. For the last couple of years we've had numerous people ask about doing a high school football show during football season. It's something that I kicked around with Bobby, but never actively pursued until now.

Beginning next week, we will have a weekly show that is all about Texas High School Football called "The Fieldhouse" and each week we'll discuss some of the state's biggest games, the players, storylines and we'll even focus on Texas commit performances as well.

It's the lineup that has me super excited, however.

I'll be hosting, but I'll be joined by:

Carl Padilla  - Carl is a prominent figure in Texas high school football, often referred to as "The Godfather of Texas High School Football." In 1997 he founded the Padilla Poll, a high school football polling and news source dedicated to covering the sport in Texas. The Padilla Poll provides rankings, news, and updates on high school football teams, players, and coaches across the state.

Coach Bob Shipley - Father of former Longhorn WRs Jordan and Jaxon Shipley, Coach Shipley has had numerous successful stops around the state, including being the Head Coach at Burnet, Brownwood, Coppell and Rotan. He also worked for the University of Texas as both an analyst and as the Director of High School Relations.

Coach Tim Buchanan - Longtime HC/AD of Aledo, Coach Buchanan went 281-58 over the course of his career, while winning EIGHT state titles. His eight titles are tied with G.A. Moore, Jr. and behind only Gordon Wood (9) and Scott Surratt (10). He is one of only three Texas high school football coaches to win state championships in four decades.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't giddy about this. All three bring unique perspectives to the table and have been involved in Texas High School Football for an incredibly long time. I easily could have called the show "3 GOATs and 1 scrub", but The Fieldhouse sounded much nicer.

As soon as we finalize what day/time the show will run, I will post that as well.

(OTF) Site Announcement

By Bobby Burton

Rule no. 1 of business. Never stop improving, ever.

**

OTF is proud to announce that we are adding new voices to the channel and the site for the 2025 football season while simultaneously expanding the current roles of several key contributors.

Please join me in welcoming former Longhorn players Marcus Myers and Will Matthews to our weekly programming. Will, who is the sideline analyst for the Longhorn Radio Network, is joining us every Thursday morning to talk about the upcoming game. Marcus will be joining the crew twice a week, including the Thursday Night Livestream with Rod and Coach Bob Shipley.

I’m happy and proud to say that that brings us to six former Longhorn players - Brian Robison, Tony Hills, Stevie Lee, Marcus, Will, and of course, Rod Babers - who are now contributing to OTF regularly.

We are also adding Amanda Atwell to our staff. Amanda is a UT journalism graduate, a former college athlete, and a lifelong Longhorn fan. She has spent several years in the broadcast business serving as sports director in Harlingen and Amarillo before moving to a different role at WFAA in Dallas. Amanda will be hosting our Tuesday and Wednesday night Livestreams alongside CJ Vogel and Jeff Howe. She is perhaps best known in the Longhorn community for her current podcast Moving Goalposts that she co-hosts with everyone’s (least) favorite Aggie Billy Liucci.

Additionally, Coach Bob Shipley will be expanding his work with us this football season, as will Coach Bryan Erwin. Coach Shipley will not only be appearing on two weekly Livestreams with Rod and CJ, but he’ll also be appearing weekly on a high school football show, as well as our Post-Game Grades on Sunday. Coach Shipley and Coach Erwin will also join me on Monday’s Lunch with the Coaches, and Coach Erwin will talk with us on Coffee & Football each Friday morning.

We’re also going to do something a little different. We’re adding a high school show. Long-time high school expert Carl Padilla and former Aledo state champion Coach Tim Buchanon will be joining Shipley and Coffee & Football host Blake Munroe for a new weekly show that focuses on high school football.

One specific programming note:

We are moving The Winning Drive from its 3pm slot on Mondays and Thursdays to the evenings on Mondays and Thursdays.

**

I would also like to take this time to mention that these additions come largely because of our continued increase in viewership over the past two years.

The growth we have seen has been amazing. And that growth has naturally attracted marquee advertisers.

We would like to thank new advertisers Vonlane, Tito’s Vodka, Bingham’s Bourbon, Tecovas, Prize Picks, Seat Geek, and Hays City Store, for joining OTF this season.

And we would also like to thank those who are returning that have helped us along the way, including Faust Distributing, Flight from Yuengling, The Loewy Law Firm, Duck Camp, Hargrove Roofing, South Point Dodge, The Co-Op, Austin Underground, Austin Orthopedic Institute, Advanced Pain Care, Longhorn Wealth Management, BKCW Insurance, Rogue Shoppe, My Perfect Franchise, the 40 Acres Collection, Mark Saunders of Allstate, and Laura Baker of Keller Williams.

Again, OTF and our increased coverage of the Longhorns would not be possible without the combination of viewership/subscribers and our sponsors.

We hope we bring you a product for the 2025 football season that everyone enjoys, respects and feels is true to the Longhorn community at large. First and foremost, we want to be informative while giving folks a real sense of what it means to like and follow the Longhorns. Those will always be our priorities.

Thank you for everything. Here's to a great 2025 season!
