  2. Using Alan Dershowitz as your example is some incredible work.
  3. This is a big cause of the disconnect. Here's a 2016 Statesman editorial stating that 73% of the officers at the time lived outside Austin, and how that was a problem: https://www.statesman.com/story/news/2016/09/04/public-would-be-better-served-if-austin-police-officers-lived-in-city/10061173007/ We all have our biases. Folks in hiring positions tend to hire people like them. If everyone recruiting and hiring is living in far off suburbs, then new hires are likely to live in far off suburbs. If police can drive into Austin four days a week, do their shift, and go home having never lived here, what incentive do they have to serve the local population well? They are not bad people, they are just doing what they have to do to get a paycheck. They are focused on their kids and their family and their community, and none of that is in Austin. The police department should try to build homegrown officers. They should be recruiting at LBJ, Akins, Navarro, Crockett, and all of the other schools within the city of Austin. They should be providing a pathway for interested graduates to get relevant experience and return when they are ready to enter the academy. And the city should provide financial incentives for officers to live within the city limits. Even if the homegrown folks eventually moved to the burbs, we would have police officers with local relatives or a memory of growing up in Austin, and perhaps they may feel more connection to Austin and be more incented to try to improve the city rather than just police.
  4. Funny enough…a coupla hundred years ago, the Catholic Church in South America declared the aquatic capybara to be a fish…so the poor could eat them on Friday. It swims, so it’s a fish. I dunno how they taste, but they do make an incredibly soft leather.
  5. It’s hard not to be disappointed in him, as he was ranked slightly ahead of Banks in the 2022 class. I expected more from him as well, especially in his senior year.
  6. I need to learn that leg sweep move.
  7. Gimme Cruz at center and shuffle the rest around accordingly.
  8. There's a Trump interview out there - I don't remember who it was with, maybe Stern? - from about 15 years ago, where he's asked "Is there such thing as 'too young' for you?" and he thinks for a second, before saying "Well I wouldn't have sex with a 12 year-old". I saw this for the first time probably a few weeks ago, after he had already been elected president twice. Someone post it if they know what I'm talking about.

  10. I kind of figure if she don't want to go to school in TX for "reasons", then Liberty would be off the list as well; along with a whole spate of sec sec sec sec sec type schools.
  11. Yeah, for sure, but man the trash piles up...
  12. And they have nowhere near enough dumpsters to handle it all. Both our younger kids rotated out of that area over the last couple of years, as the "condos" are essentially mid-century modern prisons and the flith between buildings is remarkable. It's like parking. They should have enough capacity to handle the trash. They don't.
  13. Yeah, Stroh isn't him at LG. The only 3 guys on the line that should be getting guaranteed snaps are Goosby, Baker, and Campbell. The other two spots you have Hutson, Kibble, Neto, Stroh, and Robertson. I am guessing once Brooks gets back from his suspension he is going to be onboarded quickly.
  14. UUUU with a new 52 week high. +1.56 to $13.46. This is starting to be fun.
  15. so you are saying I should double my position in IBRX? (not investment advice, I know)
  16. …and what’s going on in the Big 12 is that, left to rely on its own assets, it is fading into a minor status
  17. I posted those from an article on one of their sites within the last page, so you can see for yourself. They had 2 decent performances and 3 that were dogshit bad, on Stroh levels.
  18. k, gross
  19. No. Here he is as a junior in high school.
  20. I’m full time work from home. It allows me the ability to also be my son’s learning coach (he’s in online school). If I ever got the call to come back to the office full time, that would be my retirement day.
  21. I think it's more who-gives-a-shit-what-a-monumental-colossal-piece-of-shit-has-to-say.
