Movie theaters officially dead

If theaters go out of business there might be fewer movies for you to make extremely labored references to in 95% of your posts.

Yeah, I know it's annoying when somebody, literally every other day on this board, posts a movie quote and then several more people chime in with a quote from that same movie (including me).  Or how about when I make Seinfeld references on the Seinfeld thread?  Whoah...that's gotta hurt!  Oh, or how about when I post quotes on the TV & Movies thread.  I honestly don't remember anything about your posting history, but for some reason you make one wise-crack about mine despite mine being almost exclusively relegated to the threads that are not only relevant, but frequently welcomed and quoted/repped.  We're literally on the "Movies & TV thread" right now and you're still whining about poeple making too many movie references.  Do you get upset at topless women at strip clubs too?

Did I post something that upset you awhile back because your categorical knowledge of my posting history is almost as annoying as my movie quote history.

And to be thorough, which your wife said I am and you are not, the vast vast majority of anything I've ever quoted or referenced has NOT come from anything released in a movie theater in the last 25 years.

That it bothers you on this non-serious site that people pull out show quotes from their ass to lighten things up on threads where there's already quotes abound, is kinda strange.  For instance, we were having a future of theater discussion and some of us peppered in a real estate discussion which is a HUGE part of the theater business model.  And you have to still attempt sly digs.  It'd be one thing if you were remotely funny or interesting.  I dunno, shit...for all I know you're a hoot in real life.  But as it stands, the only people who complain as much as you do each week about people quoting movies are women.  Congrats on being one of the more rugged looking ones.  Have some pos rep to go with your period.  You're still beautiful when you're emotional.

Yeah, it was a bit long-winded.  I'll get you the highlights in your next 'People' magazine.  Sorry, it was the "95%" thing, that's exactly what women say when they know they really mean like "10%."  I need to meet more Asian women, hard-working, good at math.

I’m fine if the theaters largely die. Reduce them significantly and let the top 20 movies hit theaters each year. The rest go to Amazon for rent or Netflix/Disney for streaming service

This model of releasing a movie and then having to wait 2-4 months to watch it at home is BS.

Side note - I’ve found that COVID has actually turned into an awesome time for dining out and seeing movies. I can go to a restaurant, nobody is inside, and let my kids do whatever they want because nobody is there. I was the only person in my Tenet showing, remarkable and no risk.

Ouch. Are we going to kill any production companies that have hundreds of millions in production costs that they either don’t get back with release or have to sit on indefinitely?  What is the financial position of such companies?
disney should be fine, though I’d love to see their overall 2020 finances to see how big a hit they are absorbing from all their revenue streams.
are the other big guys like universal and warner ok?
what about smaller companies?

Maybe we’ll just get to the actual movie sooner

I just want IMAX to survive long enough for both Dune movies and Top Gun: Maverick

The current inventory of references is sufficient. There will be no drop in volume.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

If HoustonFrog and his kids go to a restaurant and no one is there, are they still all assholes?

I don't know what this means but I think it's from a movie. ;)
