  6. This bullshit of if so-and-so is the Democratic nominee then I'm just sitting this one out no longer works. I have sat it out before because I felt both Republicans and Democrats were the same. If the last two and a half years of having a childish screaming asshole as president have taught us nothing else it should be that THIS IS NOT A BOTH SIDES thing any longer. Anyone still saying both sides should be shot out of a cannon directly into an active volcano. I am no fan of the Democrats for the most part, but holy hell if you can't understand why they have to win the office of the president in 2020 instead of our fat fucking orange Dotard and his merry band of racist shitheads then I don't know what to tell you. They will gleefully continue to further ruin our country by treating all those evil brown people as being less than human as long as they are allowed to. If that is okay with you then fuck right off and crawl back into the hole you came out of. You deserve to wind up at the bottom of the East River.

  7. I do give a shit. The athletic program represents the institution, not the other way around. I categorically reject the idea that it's impossible to win clean, and doing otherwise is corrosive. I'd rather do away with football and basketball or make them club sports than employ a strategy of cheating.

  8. Meh. No violence. In Texas, here’s how it works: 1) County officials constrict voting hours and polling locations based on historic participation or they just make it up. Impacts working poorer and new voters disproportionately - thats the magic of voter suppression, as long as it disproportionately impacts your opponent, you’re good. 2) News reports proposed legislation that prosecutes voter fraud even if the subject is unaware they’re not officials 3) News reports ICE raids in public spaces in strategic locations. My wife’s grandparents were born in Texas but were worried about it because their English wasnt great. 4) Census under counts Latino households even citizens who dont want trouble 5) Nothing matters, both sides propaganda mixed with Latino surnames on Republican tickets 6) Votes thrown out by election officials 7) Legal voters purged 8) Legal votes purged because legal voters purged 9) Aging equipment in strategic locations, longer lines in urban areas 10) Noncompetitive races, votes dont matter 11) Require voter registration and voter ID. Makes it harder for poor people to vote. 12) Rinse. Repeat.

  10. LMAO Texas currently pays a man 5 million dollars a year to coach a bunch of kids who would never fucking be admitted if it wasn’t for their athletic prowess just so they can play a game 12 weeks out of the year inside a multi hundred million dollar stadium so that a million drunk fans can cheer them on and shit talk their coworkers on Monday about it. But kicking a couple grand towards the players family is the line Texas can’t cross?

  11. Let's face it, all of this could have been avoided if Mueller and his team would have either given clear recommendations about future courses of action or gave more clarity if they wanted to pursue bringing charges but were told explicitly by the OLC (and not operating under their previous guidance) they couldn't. Mueller's lack of clarity and vagueness are part of the issues and allows every side to infer, interpret, manipulate, etc his work. In some ways, he's hiding behind the report for fear of politicizing his work, but for some reason he's letting everyone else define his report and his work.

  14. Accidentally put this on the Bru McCoy thread, but the discussion is mostly happening here: I've tested out the concept of doing what it takes to land prized recruits in conversations with the regime, so to speak. They're delusional. They don't believe or understand that the basketball program has been doing what it needs to do on the recruiting front for two decades. They also believe there is some sort of moral high ground that has value to the alumni base because "we don't want to be in the headlines for the wrong reasons". They're living in fantasyland that anyone gives a shit - the NCAA, the Big 12, the media, the fans. My view is that Herman is too competitive to just give up on the blue chips because we therefore get to perch up on moral high ground, and he's too narcissistic to think that he's missing on recruits because of any failure on his own part. When he hits that psychological intersection after losing to pieces of shit like Georgia on the recruiting front repeatedly, he'll walk down the hall to the basketball area and compare notes with Shaka Smart and build from there. That's the hope. For those who hope differently, I guess I have to ask why you're stuck in a bygone era? The recruiting landscape today involves paying players to come to your school, and there isn't anyone walking around that seems to care about that outside of Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, Wisconsin and the other academically-acclaimed schools not named Duke, Florida, USC and North Carolina.

  21. No, this has to do with the fact that the GOP is the most destructive and hypocritical organization known to fucking man. These idiots cited the so-called “Biden Rule” in a lame-assed, desperate attempt to justify their shafting of Garland. For one thing, there is no “Biden Rule.” That simply doesn’t exist. It’s just a very out-of-context quote mining that the GOP found buried in the archives of Willie Horton and burning the flag. For another, the “Rule” they refer to was a speech he gave in the weeks leading up to GHWB’s re-election bid, so clearly the GOP fucking Merrick Garland had nothing to do with Obama leaving. Further, what Biden actually said was that GHWB should hold off nominating a justice to the SCOTUS until after the election (should a vacancy come up), and it was due to the very toxic environment over the subject as this was in the wake of Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas’ nominations. But far from the context of the political environment, and far apart from what Biden had to say, notice what he did not say. He did not say that Bush should hold off a hypothetical nomination were he to lose the election; just that he should hold off until after the election had concluded. That’s a huge difference. There are no lines in between which one could read Joe Biden suggesting that any hypothetical Bush nominations would be stalled to the point of not even having a fucking hearing had a vacancy come up around the time Clinton won the 1992 general election, so Mitch McConnell is absolutely wrong about absolutely everything he said to even imply the contrary. He’s completely full of shit, and this unwitting admission of vulgar hypocrisy on his part is only a surprise in one regard: he was actually being honest for a split second.

  22. Democrats have been talking about demographics destroying the Republican party for the last thirty years, while the Republicans have been wielding power to consolidate their control of the country and turn this place into the Handmaid's Tale. In another five years contraception will be illegal and women will be wearing the whole Handmaid's getup and center-left Democrats and center-right former Republicans will still be holding out hope for the next election to magically return everything to normalcy.

  27. Said it in the OP, then again in the thread, and one more time right now -- this goes double for water bottles. Both my ex and my wife treat short walks in the park like expeditions across the fucking Gobi. "OMG I forgot to get water! We need to stop and get some water!" (Stop at store, buys overpriced bottle of water, wife doesn't open it on 30-minute stroll, bottle returns to car and sits there for six months, wife finally recycles it because it got hot and the plastic "got toxic" and poisoned the water.)

  29. I answer to a board. I get what you’re saying, but if you can’t see my view along the same lines, so be it. I don’t work for and have never worked for a financial firm, but I follow that concern and share it, similarly for energy trading shops. I’ve never advocated for paying players until recently. We’re at the point where it simply isn’t cheating. When Cam Newton was able to take $200k without repercussion, the premise around paying players being a problem vaporized for CFB. Those not willing to adapt will die. You can pine for Texas to become Yale on the gridiron, but I can’t go there with you. ATM opened the floodgates in Texas for paying players and we need to adjust.

  31. so far....the NCAA seems most concerned with keeping Olympic Moguls Skiers who happen to return punts for Colorado out of the football games and allowing for Johnny to be allowed to sell autographs while his equally dork fuck "agent" throws one dollar bills out of a hefty bag. something about high school Spanish and Aaron Ross couldn't enroll here cuz he transferred highschools or something. I cannot recall anything else that I have read about where they were involved and enforced a Goddamned thing. But we can't use the Longhorn Network to our recruiting advantage because we might "ruffle some feathers" We need to quit being pussies. ....Herman is the guy to do that...it will spread throughout the department.....once Del Conte gets equally jaded, it is fucking on.

  32. I work for a hospital and we just completed a $30 million brand new ED. We incorporated a “Minute Clinic” within the ED that is staffed with CRNPs. The NPs are supervised and collaborate with the ED physicians on staff but they pretty much run the show in the clinic. When a patient comes in and gets evaluated, if they are there for something non-life threatening , they get triaged to the Minute Clinic. It’s away from the actual ED and they don’t waste the time of the physicians and staff who are dealing with real emergencies - heart attacks, strokes, car accidents etc. They get their strep test or flu swab or whatever, get any treatments they need, get their prescriptions, and GTFO. It’s been great at keeping the ED for real emergencies and it gets coded and billed as a clinic visit with a NP so it’s reduced our lost cost and the patients get a lower bill. It’s reduced the complaints about wait times, actually reduced wait times, and we’ve had better compliance from patients actually seeing a PCP to follow up. Every day I’m amazed at the ridiculous stuff that goes on in hospital administration but this has been a big success for us.

  37. “Who Texas?” — Najee Harris before fading into Alabama obscurity for 2 years. I have a hard time reading this Evans deal, but I do know I cannot lose. Or be destroyed. Either this guy is all over the place and Texas lands him at the end of the bidding war, and I’ll be happy, or he’ll grab that bag and I’ll happily root against him and his interests wherever he lands in the SEC.

I’m going to parade around behind the couch where Meh is sitting and just randomly shout “He cannot be destroyed!”, “Guerrilla Warfare!” and “He is inevitable!” throughout the duration of the conversation. Also, Derek Warehime is en route from a visit in Arizona. He’s going to test the range on those SoCal pipes. We’re going to look like a daily parade in New Orleans.
