  1. Lake played QB until last Fall. He was the starting QB on the freshman B team and then the backup QB on the JV team heading into Fall camp. The coaches talked him into switching to the Y (TE) position for the JV team. He dominated and became the main target of the JV offense. He was bumped up to Varsity toward the end of the regular season and throughout the playoffs where he became the starter due to injury and instantly provided a spark to the offense. i will add that the first time Lake played TE was in 5th grade when he was on my 7s team at the state tournament. He was a monster target then. 😉 he was on the varsity basketball team as a sophomore as well. the kid is dunking machine. To Fud's point, he is a good athlete who is already 6'5 and around 220 lbs but is a raw prospect at the TE position. He has a ton of upside. He will easily get to 240 -250 lbs at UT. he is a better overall TE prospect than Brewer coming out of LT with a much larger frame. His hands are close to Brewer's. His route running isnt close at this point. He is similar in speed. But Lake will be a more than willing blocker, despite the fact he was a QB, once he learns how to block. he is a tough, hard-nosed kid. he is one of my son's best friends, is a hard worker, and all around great kid.

  4. That was Bill Clinton's worst moment. It's deplorable. That you chose an unnecessarily partisan production of that moment is a nice insight as to where you spend your time gathering information and strategy. It's also deplorable that someone, a citizen of the US, would invoke the name of Clinton hoping to get a piece of shit like Donald Trump and his pal Epstein out of the spotlight. What does that devotion do for you? How can that make a person feel good? Nobody here would raise a finger to help Clinton avoid punishment for an actual crime with evidence and prosecution and stuff. It's shocking still that so many people applaud the US AG shutting down testimony and lying to Congress while the President raises up the man who sacrificed any claim to integrity when he opted to help Epstein in Florida. How can you swim in that muck?

  8. I know people aren’t gonna get overly excited, in part because Dorbah’s been in the (not money) bag for so long and in part because Surly gonna Surly, but Dorbah is an elite edge rusher and we’ve struggled to land guys like him many years. His biggest hurdle will be gaining weight and holding up in the run game to the level Ossai does, but I think he can easily get to 240-245 and from there, it will all be effort and technique for him. Dorbah is so freakishly explosive and flexible. He can bend the edge better than anyone on the roster currently and could easily become a double digit sack guy for multiple years on this team. This is a big fucking get at a position of need.

  15. I'm left-of-center on most things, but this is a hard no for me. First of all, the estimated cost (per PBS) is anywhere from 5 to 12 trillion dollars. The 2019 federal budget is 4.76 trillion dollars. It would ruin this country financially. Secondly, who gets reparations? All black people? Even the ones who came here from Europe or Africa in the last decade or two? Do they only go to black people who can prove their ancestry back past the Civil War, or segregation, or what? Where's the line? And then who's next in line? Native Americans, sure. What about the Irish immigrants who were treated like shit? The Chinese? Etc, etc? This is Pandora's Box and it needs to stay closed, imo.

  16. I’m going to pass along something I heard related to some of the recent recruiting challenges. No idea if this is true or not. It’s just what I heard. When a player visits, it is sometimes not clear whether that player could be influenced by improper benefits. The reason is that often players and the families don’t make those intentions clear. Rather they sit back and see what materializes. The schools that engage in those practices address that topic during the visits to the school, obviously in a very careful, hidden way. So you could get a player on campus and believe you are in a great position to land them, until the improper benefits appear at a future campus visit at a competitive school. The player accepts trips to schools that don’t pay improper benefits because they don’t know that nothing will be forthcoming when they visit. Or, they aren’t quite sure whether any school will offer anything. When it doesn’t happen, they move on to the next school to see what is offered. So how does this sometimes play out regarding Texas? They gets guys on campus who really like the program. Texas thinks they’ve got a potential recruit. But when that recruit visits certain other campuses, certain time-limited offers are made. All of a sudden, the player accepts that offer and Texas is on the outside looking in. I won’t mention particular names, but I think we’ve all read stories about players we thought were interested in Texas who very suddenly committed elsewhere. In some cases, that is all about the fast route to money. Families need it so they take it. Also, they don’t want to get passed over for another recruit who will take the money and the slot. The player is then wed to that school. They are okay with it because they want to help their family, and live a better lifestyle, obviously. So they rationalize it that way and Texas doesn’t get them, even if the player liked Texas the most. This is what explains the sudden shifts away from Texas, in some cases.

  18. If you love baseball, you should have already read this book: It's probably the most important book written about MLB in many years. I had it in Seattle last week, and the guy I was staying with got interested in it, and said, "Let's go down and visit Driveline." We walked in, and a guy who worked there asked if he could help us. To my astonishment, he said he'd be happy to show us around the whole place and spent 30 minutes showing us the lab and the workout room and all the equipment and how guys used it. Just amazingly cool. I told him I'd work there for free.

  28. You saw Good Perspective. I saw a pile of horse shit. For a guy new to this space, Terrell certainly seems to have hit the ground running with the "Oh, no, why is everyone so negative there's everything is going so well!" He does a great job of trying to use favorite fan board criticisms to be viewed positively: 1) The perception of us going out of state vs aTm 2.) aTm filling up on bread, etc But when he touches on Broughton, he misses the fucking point. "Oh, he has a scheme fit preference and if he can't figure out it, what can we do?" I know what you do, you fucking fire the POS guy recruiting him and replace him with someone who can actually fucking RELAY THE TRUTH AND SALESPITCH TO THE KID EFFECTIVELY. Shit man, if that family didn't want to buy the car, what was I going to do? I don't know, how about fucking SELL them the fucking car? He's completely myopic to the point of recruiting and salesmanship isn't some just static thing that "exists" in the ether and can't be formed or shaped by the fuckhead position coach trying to sell shit on the bottom line. Terrell even touched on it in his paragraph and then completely biffed the actual point: "This should be an easy counter but..." Stop right there. You're right. It should be an easy fucking counter. PERIOD. His commentary on Whittington shows complete ignorance about how the kid was recruited at Texas and by who and a complete ignorance about the timeline of his recruitment versus his championship game performance and the loss of Sanders and Evans, or it is a willful deception to push his own agenda. Fuck, it might even be both. Either way, that is a real, real bad look for that dude. He's either ignorant or he's lying or he's both. His refusal to understand the dynamics at play in Texas that allowed us to land Ingram isn't exactly encouraging either, but it supports the ignorance position. I'm so, so fucking sick of 9.95ers telling us to exercise patience and fucking take it easy. It's just a bunch of plaintive whining from guys who don't like their jobs as much when their paying customers are pissed off.

I have done it once and I will do it again if a single one of you slack jawed glory hole vacuums spews one more fucking thing about this site or its reporting. Oh, do you feel that? It’s my finger on the switch. All of your silly little rep points are mine to toy with. Tomorrow you may log in and I will have turned this whole fucking place into an online scrapbooking site if I please. Quote the raven motherfuckers. -immamac probably

  36. Also, and I feel like I am taking crazy pills, but I cannot get down on things with recruiting the way so many on here and elsewhere are. Whatever Herman’s flaws, and I’ve whined about many, I don’t think he fails on strategery. In leading orgs, even really sharp motherfuckers make mistakes. The special ones make adjustments once the terrain fails to match the map, and then they get back to winning. I think this is going to be an interesting test to witness, if nothing else. My view is that momentum swings back soon now that vacation is over, but fuck, maybe I’m being a pollyanna for the first time since posting the thread on Hornfans titled “Is Greg Davis Sandbagging the Offense?” ahead of the OU shutout in 2004.
