I agree that Dabo does more with less. Tom Herman also has a record of doing that though not at the top level yet. He beat OU and FSU with top 60 recruiting classes at Houston. The talent remaining on campus in 2018 was likely borderline top 20 excluding the true freshmen. They played like it at times but they also thumped much more talented teams in Southern Cal and Georgia. They split with a CFP bound OU. JUCOs are already accounted for in recruiting rankings. You might argue that they are undervalued but they aren't ignored. As for the OU transfer QBs you have a point but again it's not a major impact on the rankings. Baker Mayfield was a low 3-star coming out of HS. If he'd signed with OU originally that would have LOWERED their class ranking. It was superior evaluation by Tech and OU. Kyler Murray was top rated so let's see what would have happened to rankings if he had gone to Norman out of HS. Murray's 247 composite score was 0.9855. OU's 2015 class averaged 0.8820 in a class of 29. Adding Murray would have brought the average of that class up to 0.8855. In terms of ratings, Murray would have barely moved the needle for 2015, not moving the average per recruit more than one spot for that year. Over an 8 year period that impact would be a rounding error. Including Mayfield and Murray in OU's signing classes would have almost no effect - which is a demonstrated weakness of recruiting rankings. That's one reason I'm not stressed over #6-10 vs top 5. Georgia was a clear top 5 talent pool. USC was also a top 5 talent pool with classes ranked #2, #10, #4 and #4. Both were not just beaten but DOMINATED by a Tom Herman team that was far less talented on paper. Top 10 every year and top 5 half the time ought to produce a really good team under this coaching staff. With back to back #3 classes that seems like the floor right now.9 points

Okay, the following is very long, but it happened yesterday, and I wanted to make it a good narrative, so I put it in a spoiler. I hope you enjoy it. Nothing I've ever done could have prepared me for such a great day in Houston at the Space Center. And I'm convinced that there was no more impactful way I could have celebrated the annivesary. It was borderline mystical and magical. Want more? Read it. And there's pix in it as well. The real 747 used to transport the shuttles across country with a mockup of a shuttle (entrance to the center). Took this mostly because of the sky/clouds being pretty and all). Gene Kranz in the controll room, at his traditional spot!! Charlie Duke and Gene Kranz! I mean, can you believe this picture? Newly-restored (as of July 1) 1969 control room! From L→R on screens: some data on Apollo 11 LEM (sorry too bright); barely visible but doable screen with two graphics of bodies (Aldrin and Armstrong) showing their "current" positions in relation to LEM (tracking); surface map of moon showing LEM "current" position (you can see it almost smack in middle of map along horizontal white guideline); Little screen to right showing broader view of landing area (Mare Tranquillitatis) Neil's first step (okay, a bit mocked up for effect, but hey, what better place to loop it??) Checklist of procedures for exploring lunar surface by Apollo 13 (obviously never gotten to!)9 points

Landon Jackson isn’t a b-backer, he’ll be DL all the way. Davis is 6’4, 217 before his junior year in HS. I don’t think size will be a concern. We use our primary TE pretty traditionally. Obviously, the more versatility, the better but I don’t think there’s much question about how we use TE in our base 11 personnel. I do think Herman wants to be able to run more 12 personnel, which is why taking Wiley and Liebrock was great and Mcree and Davis would be a great class. Now that defenses are adjusting to spread and going lighter, the next move for offenses is to be able to run heavy personnel, but have the skill versatility to run 4 wide without subbing. Basically what the Pats did to win the Super Bowl. Once he has the personnel for it, I think Herman would like to have Wiley be lined up at inline TE, with guys Liebrock/Davis as a move piece that can start in the backfield at H-Back and be motioned out to the slot if the defense lines up heavy or stay In as a blocker if the defense tries to run a dime look. Guys like Liebrock and Davis are perfect for that second TE role. It’s such a drastic difference between watching a program under Herman as opposed to Strong. Herman certainly has some faults but there’s no doubt in my ind he’s one of the best offensive minds in college football , even if he doesn’t yet get the same notoriety as Lincoln Riley, and Herman being on the cutting edge of new offensive trends, like 2 TE sets, is going to pay real dividends.8 points

And when they win 7 or 8 games again, he will just give it a ¯\_(ツ)_/¯and say the same shit next year, realizing they never will catch on to him. Looch has been selling the same story for 25 years. “The Aggys are about to be a championship team. This coach is different. The big bad longhorns manipulate the media. The longhorn coach is dogshit. Aggys recruit better.” It is the same routine through 5 fucking coaches. The fact that those oxygen thieves continue to listen to him speaks volumes about their intelligence and rampant inadequacy complex. Longhorn “reporters” are some of the most hated and distrusted people by Longhorn fans.7 points

From TFLoss on Q. Davis. 2021 WR Quay Davis of Dallas Skyline told 24/7 today that he's 100% committed despite Ra'Shaad Samples leaving for SMU.Texas is where he wants to be and he's focused on recruiting the 2021 class.7 points

I can promise you this: Steve McKinney got his ass whipped for 4 straight quarters his senior year as a DE at Clear Lake by a wild sophomore A-back throwing crab blocks and crackback blocks on counters and off tackles all night. Clear Lake was beating us 55-0 when he grabbed me and attempted to punch me through my face mask. He’s as shitty an aggie as there ever has been. I’ve done a lot of things and been a lot of places, and I still cherish making that fat fucker lose his temper.7 points

Clemson is just flat out bigger than anyone else besides Bama. That isn’t all recruiting. They’re allegedly really, really good at the doping game. Getting caught was sadly hilarious because a) watching them feign innocence was a farce in being even vaguely honest, especially for such a folksy shithead like Swinney and b) the national media did almost everything they could to avoid broaching the subject. It’s basically like it didn’t happen, and fuck any integrity in the game mattering one bit.6 points

Okudah was always going to end up a bucknut.. Sucks seeing Dobbins and Browning there, however. Waiting to see if Browning flashes this season. He hasn't played the way I thought he was going to coming out of high school. Sucks since he would have really excelled in TO's defense. Oh well fuck them all.6 points

There is no greater unfulfilled promise than the BJ. Fool me once, shame on you. That's mostly true but there are some really big exceptions. Clemson fielded the #9, #11, #16 and #7 classes with their most recent team. Not one top 5 class. Their 2016 championship team had the #16, #9, #9 and #11 classes. OU hasn't won it all but they've made the CFP 3 times. From 2011-2016 they didn't have a single top 10 class - much less a top 5 class. They got a #8 class in 2017 and #9 in 2018; still no top 5 classes. OU usually has ranked in the 11-20 range. It's always better to have more talent rather than less. But the only schools that meet the consistent top 5 criteria are Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia, maybe LSU. Clemson and Oklahoma have better results than any of the last 3. The issue for Texas isn't that recruiting classes have been "only" top 10. The program suffered from poor recruiting on both lines and then overall depletion of talent due to 2 coaching changes. Herman's 2017 transition class was ranked #25 but it's contributing as much or more to the OL as the #7 ranked 2016 class.5 points

I love Sam and why he takes the contact makes me love him even more. He's not going to out run you, he's probably not going to shake more than one guy, but rest assured at the end of the run he's going to try to run your ass over and push forward. But even Sam can't take that pounding for a year without getting banged up and nicked; he's always an Iowa St. hit on a 3 and 14 scramble away from having that shoulder take a shot. I love Colt, but even he found out pretty quick what happens when you lower your shoulder inside. Stone's not built for that - he's not fast enough to out run a McCulloch or Ossai to the boundary, so he's going to get pushed inside. Once he gets in there, he's going to take his fair share of hits from corners, safety's, nickels, lb'ers, and most will be faster than him. Milroe can bounce it outside and beat a lb'er or corner to the boundary, he can take it inside and outrun or shake a lb'er. So that leaves us with his mechanics, which I don't think are that great. Everything is from below the ear, 3 quarter motion, he has to load low because he lacks the arm strength. I'll take Milroe, who already throws over his ear and snaps the football. I think Buechele was every bit the quarterback Stone is, and I think Buechele threw a better ball and had better mechanics than Stone at that age. Watch Buechele's senior tape versus Stone and you tell me who you'd rather have. In our system, it's not even close between Stone and Milroe.5 points

Chomsky was pointing out the Trump base years before Trump and Russia showed up on the scene. Unlike the "concerned" Democratic liberal base he didn't see this as a gathering of racist bigots but instead saw it as a manipulation of the working class by the business class who will eventually lose control of the base the same way the German industrialists lost control of the early Nazi party. The Russians didn't create this political movement or empower it, the American Business class did. Keep in mind that Chomsky was saying this before Trump and the Russians became a thing. He doesn't see Russian interference as a serious problem because he was predicting this shit years before Trump showed up.5 points

I'm usually a fairly patient person, but when I go to the grocery store, I have a list and I am there to get the items and get out. If my husband is with me, sometimes I go an aisle ahead and bring items back to the cart to make it go faster. So why the family of I dunno, five, six, seven? along with the main cart plus the kiddy cart feels the need to stretch out along the fresh fish display so that no one else waiting can see anything gets me surly. I have children, so I understand the need to keep children occupied and entertained, but by the time you have more than one, up your crowd control game people.4 points

He’s also completely wrong with that pissant qualifier of “in hindsight.” It’s complete bullshit. The cia knew in advance that the coup was going to absolutely devastate the population and that they were going to hate the Shah’s bloody rule. They drafted and submitted “black documents” to arouse popular support for their activities both here and in Iran. In those documents, they tried to “prove” some connection between Mossadegh and the pro-Soviet Tudeh Party. They tried it even though Mossadegh never belonged to them and once told it’s party’s leader something to the effect of “we’re not in the government of Iran to serve the people of Moscow. The government of Iran serves Iran. Tell me we need to align with the USSR again and I cut out your tongue.” The coup helped the token few Americans and Iranians with high ranking positions in private petroleum businesses with interests in that region of the world, but it helped no one else and that was a predicted consequence at the time. Why else would the cia go through all that trouble to portray Mossadegh as some sort of Satan? Oh and along the same lines, the cia also trained the SAVAK to use Nazi-style torture tactics against political opponents. Gee I wonder why they’d do that so early during the Shah’s reign.4 points

I’d love it if Kelley McGillis made a cameo. Maverick and some of the younger guys are doing a meet and greet at the O-Club bar, when she comes trudging in, walks by, smiles at Maverick, and then lumbers over to a booth where she plops her fatass down with a large THUD. When the younger dudes look back at him, one of them asks, “Do you know her”? Maverick, caught in an almost dreamlike haze, comes out of it and says, “Yeah. She was a civilian contractor back in mid eighties who’s area of expertise was the MIG-28. Unfortunately for her, the data we were able to provide the state department after our skirmish over the Indian Ocean back in ‘86 revealed that she was full of shit. The planes we shot down were a bunch of F-5s that we’d sold some shithole Soviet offshoot country, and they were piloted by a handful of drunk ex-Soviet contractors. They even scored a kill on one of our guys early on, but once I showed up, and we realized what they were, it was like a fucking turkey shoot. We never let that pilot and his REO live it down either. His backseater, who went by Wolfman, broke up with him shortly after returning to port. So Hollywood decided to give real estate a try, but he couldn’t sell his way out of a wet paper sack. Last we heard he and partner were selling Scentsy. Anyway, back to the fat drink of water pounding the pint glass of white Zinfandel over there in the corner. Once the US Government realized she was completely full of shit, they canned her like tuna. Now she works at the Shell station over by the base. So the answer is yes, I do know her. Long answer is I used to go balls deep in her fat ass like my plane was going down, pun intended. Now, who’s got the next round? I need a shot, and if y’all are willing to drop some money in the pot, enough to make it interesting, y’all meet me in the parking lot and y’all can watch me just destroy her ass on the trunk of her green Karmann Ghia. $100 she’s parked in the handicapped space right next to my Ninja”. I get a kick out of the people who think that this (racist attacks on Congresswomen) is some grand strategy by Trump, and that Democrats are playing right into his trap. First of all, Trump is an idiot. His brand of idiocy may be marketable, but that doesn't change its nature. Secondly, and more importantly, if this isn't a battle for the hearts and minds of the country that we can win, what's the fucking point. It's not ground that can be abandoned and still expect to maintain any defense.4 points

I'm not the intellectual Chomsky is, but I've been watching the same thing. The hate engine was created because they can't get elected on love (libs are Juden). Leveraging abortion became an issue when that really wasn't a partisan issue. Ministry of Truth tactics where the estate tax is called a death tax that punishes people for dying. It's ruining the farmers! It'll ruin you even though it doesn't affect you unless the estate isn't in the millions! The Clear Skies law makes the air dirtier. Same for whatever Bush called his policy to allow more water pollution. Chomsky makes a better intellectual case than I do, but I concluded a few years ago that the GOPs are wicked and the Dems are weak. The Dems worst moment for me was their absurd and arcane reasoning for essentially voting to let W go to war in Iraq if he wanted to. Dennis Kucinich can sleep at night; the rest can go fuck themselves. I hold my nose to vote Dem. I don't expect traditional GOP refugees to vote Dem over the long term although Chomsky's point about the Dems actually being moderately right wing raises interesting questions. Chomsky was the intellectual the hate engine was aimed at for decades. I only know him through TV appearances. Smart guy.3 points
