My four years on campus went something like 3-8, 4-7 and two 5-6 seasons. My freshman year when I was in band we lost to Nebraska late at the Chiefs stadium and Texas due to a field goal. The damn coach just ran his son up the middle repeatedly, Tony Lindsay and Aso Pogi The Throwin Samoan we’re barely what I’d call quarterbacks. We’d beaten Purdue in a bowl the year before I started there but never sniffed the post season again. Basketball tickets were hot items and I’ll never forget how loud the old GIA got in my first game, playing TCU I believe who was coached by an ex sooner...the football at Rustoleum Field never approached anything like that. I feel like Texas is going places this year, and I know we were gifted two muffed punts but overall we competed and Sanders didn’t look rattled at all on the biggest stage of a young career playing against a Texas team that took an elite LSU team to the wire. I’m cautiously optimistic on our team but ultimately we are always playing with 3* players and I doubt I see a 2011-type season again in my lifetime. Texas is ok with me. I’m married to a 2xHorn, both fan bases hate OU and mock Aggy...Longhorns are well educated, generally humble people and this place is my home on the Internet. You assholes make me laugh everyday and I’m glad most of us Pokes are welcome here. So yeah, you won’t see me talking trash or getting butthurt. The respect our team garners around here makes me proud, it was earned on the fied and via a fan base that’s not a boat of delusional grandiose asshats that are grateful for what we have. Anyone who isn’t didn’t get the same experience at osu that I did. Now go win the league Texas. I’m rooting for ya.33 points

It's a nice list, and would have destroyed any other elected official in our country at any other time in our nation's history. Today? Meh. 40% of the electorate would die for the man, and the major political party that backs him just shrugs their collective shoulders. I pity the day in the future where a president looks at this list, and says "hold my beer". That will be the ultimate Trump legacy. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/22/opinion/trump-ukraine-whistle-blower.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage&te=1&nl=david-leonhardt&emc=edit_ty_20190923?campaign_id=39&instance_id=12580&segment_id=17255&user_id=980dd4f1cd1cbe4ff0e89e287394f24d®i_id=62389442 Sometimes it’s worth stepping back to look at the full picture. He has pressured a foreign leader to interfere in the 2020 American presidential election. He urged a foreign country to intervene in the 2016 presidential election. He divulged classified information to foreign officials. He publicly undermined American intelligence agents while standing next to a hostile foreign autocrat. He hired a national security adviser whom he knew had secretly worked as a foreign lobbyist. He encourages foreign leaders to enrich him and his family by staying at his hotels. He genuflects to murderous dictators. He has alienated America’s closest allies. He lied to the American people about his company’s business dealings in Russia. He tells new lies virtually every week — about the economy, voter fraud, even the weather. He spends hours on end watching television and days on end staying at resorts. He often declines to read briefing books or perform other basic functions of a president’s job. He has aides, as well as members of his own party in Congress, who mock him behind his back as unfit for office. He has repeatedly denigrated a deceased United States senator who was a war hero. He insulted a Gold Star family — the survivors of American troops killed in action. He described a former first lady, not long after she died, as “nasty.” He described white supremacists as “some very fine people.” He told four women of color, all citizens and members of Congress, to “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came.” He made a joke about Pocahontas during a ceremony honoring Native American World War II veterans. He launched his political career by falsely claiming that the first black president was not really American. He launched his presidential campaign by describing Mexicans as “rapists.” He has described women, variously, as “a dog,” “a pig” and “horseface,” as well as “bleeding badly from a facelift” and having “blood coming out of her wherever.” He has been accused of sexual assault or misconduct by multiple women. He enthusiastically campaigned for a Senate candidate who was accused of molesting multiple teenage girls. He waved around his arms, while giving a speech, to ridicule a physically disabled person. He has encouraged his supporters to commit violence against his political opponents. He has called for his opponents and critics to be investigated and jailed. He uses a phrase popular with dictators — “the enemy of the people” — to describe journalists. He attempts to undermine any independent source of information that he does not like, including judges, scientists, journalists, election officials, the F.B.I., the C.I.A., the Congressional Budget Office and the National Weather Service. He has tried to harass the chairman of the Federal Reserve into lowering interest rates. He said that a judge could not be objective because of his Mexican heritage. He obstructed justice by trying to influence an investigation into his presidential campaign. He violated federal law by directing his lawyer to pay $280,000 in hush money to cover up two apparent extramarital affairs. He made his fortune partly through wide-scale financial fraud. He has refused to release his tax returns. He falsely accused his predecessor of wiretapping him. He claimed that federal law-enforcement agents and prosecutors regularly fabricated evidence, thereby damaging the credibility of criminal investigations across the country. He has ordered children to be physically separated from their parents. He has suggested that America is no different from or better than Vladimir Putin’s Russia. He has called America a “hellhole.” He is the president of the United States, and he is a threat to virtually everything that the United States should stand for25 points

We went to the football game this last Saturday night. We sat in the upper deck and enjoyed a nice cool breeze for most of the game. Actually pleasant weather, which I was not expecting. During the 4th quarter, my wife and I decided to head to the concession stand to grab a couple of drinks and a pretzel. We took the opportunity to sit in some chairs right by the concession stand, relax a little and watch the game on the concession stand monitor. About halfway through the pretzel, she looks at me and says "I wish it wasn't so windy up here. It seems like the wind has really picked up". 3 feet to her left was a giant fan, blowing straight on us.13 points

The people on the SEC board seem to have an inside scoop that it is a suicide. I always get such a cold, empty feeling when I read about a young person taking their own life. Every large and small kindness we can share with someone just might make the difference in helping them get through that day. I wish I always remembered that.13 points

So much for "the nicest fans in all of college football." A friend of mine parked his car in College Station near the aggy campus and thoughtlessly left two tickets to the next A&M home game on his dashboard, in plain sight. Some thoughtless asshole smashed out the driver's side window and left four more.9 points

One really nice thing I noticed while watching the replay was how often the Texas and OSU players would help an opponent off the ground after the play was over. You don't see that degree of sportsmanship much these days - much less as a regular thing throughout the game. Good to see the mutual respect there between the teams as well as the fanbases.9 points

One of my buddies said we should do a top 50 that incorporates the legitimate shitheadedness, or not, of a player; is real about grades; and factors in the dirtiness of the recruitment to the ranking. Or just go the other way and make it strictly about the best player. Out first take fucking around with it has Evans coming in at 24, which I still think is too high. Thought about collaborating with a couple of film junkies from here and posting a thread on it for each of 2020 and 2021. My problem is I’m not sure if that would make things more fun or less fun as a poster here.8 points

There was a thought of adding more seats to the SEZ (south endzone) project, but instead, the decision was made to create a Hall of Fame to house the trophies won by UT athletes over the years. Because of the immense space requirements for the Hall of Fame (55 National Championships, 599 conference team titles, hundreds of individual national champions, 171 Olympians at 21 Olympiads winning 145 Olympic medals), even with the massive expansion of overall space, the number of seats will actually decline. Had the decision been made not to add a Hall of Fame to the SEZ, seating could have been increased by approximately 10,000 seats. The UT Hall of Fame is similar to the A&M Hall of Champions, except the UT Hall of Fame, out of necessity, will be much larger than the A&M Hall of Champions. Also, unlike the A&M Hall of Champions, the UT Hall of Fame will actually house championship trophies.7 points

There was a good thread on Shaggy with many variations. I'll start with this one from LSU tailgate. Cream cheese, chorizo, jalapeños, and Oaxaca cheese. Smoked for about an hour and half I think (that was a long day). I'd add more cheese next time.6 points

About two years ago, I remember one of our resident Trump supporters beside himself when I said that I have no interest in interacting or maintaing friendships with Trump supporters. It's past that now. I openly wish them nothing but pain and misery.6 points

Terrible outfit and terrible new haircut. Of all the Trump spawn, I hate her the most. The rest don’t even try to hide their horribleness. She play acts at being “the moderating influence” and the angel on her father’s shoulder but she’s just there for the grift like the rest. All she cares about is Chinese patents and hocking cheap shoes and handbags and ugly outfits like this one. Fuck her.6 points

Does anyone really think Slorch, Hooker, , Icon, Sack and the other nimwits would have quit the CR if Hillary had won? You are a fucking liar if you think so, they'd be in there every hour bitching about her, posting memes, and cracking jokes They quit for one reason, Trump, they have realized he is indefensible, so they ran away, plain and simple.6 points

Everyone claiming that "back in my day we did this!" is leaving out the very important detail that for decades, we had one of the least intimidating home crowds in the country, and student participation was a key reason. We had general admission last season and none of this was an issue. General Admission combined with the SEZ construction combined with a bunch of entitled twats with a twitter account whining about safety caused the problem. We've got a month to figure this out before our next game, although I doubt any of the remaining games will have the same enthusiasm. I imagine that these last two games will be small blips on the radar and will be forgotten in the long run once the EZ renovations are complete. I'd much rather have an AD that listens to complaints and tries to fix things (sometimes will unsuccessful results) than someone like Steve fucking Patterson.6 points

It's a good texags show today to just jump around on. - Very little spin (well, until Chin Pubes comes in). Saying they got outcoached and outplayed. - Kevin Sumlin was unprofessional and classless with his tweet (sounded like Olin was about to unleash his inner white supremist) - aggy should sue tay yew for Bevo shitting in an aggy logo bucket - Have to accept that New Army won't stay the whole game, because it's too hot - When a Texter complains about the officiating, Looch says "every team complains about the refs -- well, except Texas and Alabama fans" - and of course, there was recruiting talk, but nothing about Omeire. Lol Looch comes in at the 53:00 mark http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/TexAgsRadio/~5/uGyTTCVHTbw/0122256-uocz.mp35 points

DBs are going to continue to get hurt. Texas has moved to a base dime so they're the majority of players on the field. The DL is asked to hold up blockers to free up the speedy back end to make plays, so essentially the DBs are 3/4ths of the eight guys that will make the vast majority of tackles. That means, as a position group, they're taking a lot more hits than most secondaries. They're asked to do a lot in the run game and in terms of blitzing, which often means taking on significantly larger guys. There also isn't a lightning fast Gary Johnson or Malik Jefferson cleaning evrything up behind the DL. Not knocking the system but it will continue to be an issue. I mean unless your last home game was pre 2010 I can’t imagine it was a beating. The bullshit advertising has been cut in half and then some, no NBA/minor league baseball pick the color/hat games, more local vendors/concessions, no HYPE team or on field MC, no weather man, no jet pack/gatling gun T-shirt cannon gimmicks, BEER, the Hall of Fame, on top of Bevo Blvd, Smokey’s Midway and Longhorn City Limits. Sure there is room to improve but a home game today versus even 3 years ago is night and fucking day, and if you can’t recognize that then I don’t know what to tell you.5 points
