  1. It isn’t a fun game as a fan, and it never was. There is no upside to playing them. It’s like associating with a stalker. Somebody is going to get hurt. From 1999 on, things just got more toxic. They killed a bunch of their own students through recklessness, and we tried to show them what a classy university looks like. We were met with utter nastiness. They did everything they could to hurt us, going so far as lining the highway into town with anti-Texas signs, calling our football coaches and team throughout the night before the game, refusing to feed the team breakfast the morning of the game, etc. That is not rivalry fun, and it isn’t healthy in any way. That’s without getting into all the details about their very-well-planned exit from the Big 12, the years of them conspiring with Mike Slive to do it (while lying to their own conference partners), their attempt to destroy the conference on the way out, and their continued defamation of Texas. You don’t rewards that bullshit, you avoid it. I’m sorry you have aggies in your family. That’s your problem.

  2. It seems like every day now I wonder how people can manage to not understand what’s happening in the world. We are staring at a very serious issue where the President of the United States was obviously trading aid for attacks on his political rival. And yet again, supposedly intelligent people distort their perception of reality to affirm their confirmation bias that Trump and company have done nothing wrong. Crusher, Hammer, and the other Trump defenders, forget what is in the transcript for a minute. The actions taken are obviously and without question an illegal act. There is even evidence of a cover up, which reaffirms it was illegal. How in the world can you not be concerned about this? How can you defend this? It strikes at the very core of our democracy. I’m not one of the left. I’m a centrist. Sometimes I feel like one of the few left in this country. But it’s become absolutely clear, objectively, that Trump is a serial liar, an embarrassment to the country, a criminal, and worst of all, completely ineffective as a President. Almost everything he works on is a mess. Iran, North Korea, trade, immigration, etc. Even the tax cut is a failure because he’s endangered the country due to our debt situation. And yet, you people blindly follow him because you buy the lies of him and the Republican Party. How can you be so gullible? It’s obvious he lies every single day multiple times a day Why don’t you feel foolish? You should feel foolish. You’ve completely embarrassed yourself and years from now you will look back on this time period with embarrassment and shame. And it will all be recorded for eternity on the Internet. You people have got to figure out a way to perceive the world around you in a more objective way or this country is doomed.

  5. If that's what happens, so be it. What I can't handle is the Dems going down without a fight. This is an existential threat to our nation. Either a president is above the law and unrestrained from committing acts of criminality and corruption or he/she isn't. Either a president may betray our nation to a foreign country when backed by a vocal minority of traitors or he may not. Either a president may abuse the power of his office against his rivals in an election or he may not. There are many Republicans using every stretch of logic they can find to defend Trump, and plenty of Dems pointing out that they would have reacted differently if Obama did it. But if you are supporting Trump in this, the question you need to ask yourself is, am I okay with the precedent I am setting? If AOC becomes president a decade from now, am I okay with the notion that it will be entirely legal and unimpeachable for her to hold up military aid to a country and then say, "I have a favor, though," when the leader of that country brings up aid, and that favor is starting a criminal investigation into the GOP front-runner in the next election? Am I okay with her getting elected in the first place by welcoming help from an enemy nation to hack various aspects of our election system and then, in the Oval Office after winning, telling the enemy's leader that she has no problem with what they did, and then doing everything she can to help them do it again? Am I okay with her covering up this wrongdoing by hiding transcripts of the conversations? Am I okay with this being the new norm? If you wouldn't be okay with that, you need to question what the hell you are doing supporting Trump now. Because this is where the precedent is being decided. Here and now.

  9. Right after he fired the man responsible for investigating it, which by the way he told the same Russians relieved a "great pressure" on him. Oh, and then he appointed an attorney general that limited and then buried the special counsel investigation that firing triggered. The corruption and criminality in this administration is insane. What's even more terrifying is that as a result of internet and other media filter bubbles (see Fox News/Limbaugh), you can just ignore these facts, buy into an alternate reality, or just be distracted by nonsense (Hillary's emails, Uranium one, etc.) .When Watergate happened, the presentation and filtering of facts was much more concentrated in a few influential news sources. That media was also driven by journalistic integrity and not a profit motive--as many outlets are today. The result was that the facts--and the wrongdoing-- could be made readily apparent to the public and Nixon had to resign. Today, at least 40% (probably most) of the country is isolated from the truth. What's truly terrifying, though, is Trump--while putting out a model for taking advantage of the modern media and ability to engage in sophisticated and widespread domestic psychological warefare-- is mildly incompetent at pulling it off. Imagine what would happen if you had someone more savvy decide to use Trump's tools to impose tyranny. That's the greater danger, and i don't know you address it. New regulation of new and social media would be a good place to start, but it's going to raise a bunch of 1A issues that I'm not sure we're prepared to sort through. The bottom line , though is that where we're heading is much worse than where we are. Chew on that for a while.

  12. The fact that people are struggling with the idea that the Dems are doing this because it’s their constitutional duty and it’s the morally, and ethically correct course of action, even if it has the potential to hurt them politically, tells you everything about the naysayer and the state of our politics.

  14. All Republicans: “right, but where’s the evidence, huh?” Everyone else in the world: “he admitted it, in public, in front of millions of people.” All Republicans: “well, that’s just circumstantial.” Everyone: “it’s the exact opposite of circumstantial.” All Republicans: “what about something else though? Didn’t some Democrat do something wrong in the 1960s? Why isn’t everyone talking about that?”

  15. it’s not my job to prove anything, we’re just discussing. the investigation has just begun, even though trump and rudy have already inadvertently confessed to breaking the law. are you looking for someone to explain things to you? the ukraine call? the server? rudy’s special purpose? who paid for what? or is this a broader question where we should cover emoluments and obstruction? holding back aid until he sees if ukraine president will play ball and open an investigation into a domestic political rival is abuse of power. asking or pressuring, doesn’t matter, can’t do it. congressmen can’t even take personal phone calls or discuss campaign contributions in certain office hallways. this is not man, there are rules. using a code-word server for matters not pertaining to national security isn’t illegal, but points to a cover-up because someone else was smart enough to know people shouldn’t see it. however only trump can classify or declassify like that, and he said it was a perfect phone call, which tells me someone trying to protect him broke the law (anyone else sensing a trend here?). now it’s come out that the server was used for other non-national security reasons. calls with russia and saudi. this opens the door to a potential river of shit. i can keep going, but you really should read the complaint and get caught up. it was a really busy couple days. this is just the beginning of evidence and inquiry phase. subpoenas have just started. oh, and these you can’t just ignore. and once it comes out that pompeo and rudy weren’t on the same page, one of them is fucked, likely rudy, who won’t stop digging his own grave. and if taxpayers/creep paid for his trips, well, that’s not great, bob. if you’re looking for illegal shit, it’s everywhere. if you’re looking for people positive he’ll get removed over it, that’s a whole other thing i’m off to bed. get your homework done and we can chat more tomorrow.

  16. You'd find little resistance to investigating Biden. Why didn't Trump use one of many sources, domestically, to influence someone to thoroughly investigate Joe Biden? He has a comically agreeable asset as AG. He had two Republican chairs of investigative committees in both houses of Congress. Still has one now. Why? Why do you think these people are reluctant to investigate Joe Biden and his son for possibly benefiting financially from the influence of high profile political office using nepotism, access to channels of power and their prominent status and proximity to economic policy? I mean every Republican in Washington DC and half of the Democrats would love to scorch the earth of that topic. Why do you think they never did that with all the available tools within this country? What possible explanation could you provide for asking a foreign regime to handle that?

  30. The thing about wanting to know the truth is that you need some reasonable basis to think there is something to investigate, let alone to spread in the media. Hammer would understand that pretty fast if someone in his community were to start telling everyone that he seems creepy and that we need to know the truth about whether he's a child molestor. Not only is there no evidence of wrongdoing here by Biden, there is substantial evidence that he did nothing wrong. If you have something else, forward it to the FBI. Otherwise shut the fuck up and focus on the overwhelming evidence of criminality, corruption, and abuse of power by the sitting president.

If Obama did it we should be happy about all of it. Because nothing exonerates us more than doing the things we despised six months ago. Your high bar is now what you once considered the low bar.
