  1. I've been pointing to this weekend since the TCU debacle, personally. I will obviously take a W if this cockroach of a coach escapes death for another week by some miracle. However, he's going to get outcoached, he's on the road, and he hasn't fixed shit. If Gundy leads OSU to a double digit win, I wouldn't be surprised to see Herman being shown the door by Sunday evening, November 1. Talks are happening, and they've been going on for awhile. It's pretty basic - "show me a job, first, and sure, maybe we can make this work." That's a pretty reasonable approach by everyone. Del Conte has one job here right now when it comes to football - fire Fuckface when we're eliminated and then get out of the way. The path to getting back to elite CFB for Texas is obvious for the first time in a long time. Get rid of the mirage at the helm and hire one of the best coaches in history, who happens to be available. Can Texas fuck it up? You bet. They're aware of past fuck-ups this time, and doing what they can to avoid a circus. I hope that means they're going to act quickly and decisively the minute there is no doubt left in the schedule.

  2. Randolph Duke has proven time and again that he knows precisely dick about anything UT related. Can he hunt down obscure facts about ATM and work himself into a frenzy over it? No doubt. This ain't that.

  4. When/if the Democrats take Texas back over they need to voter oppress the shit out of Republicans. Polling stations only in the worst part of town, all minority election workers, bring back literacy tests except every voter has to read the 1619 Project, voting ID restrictions where in order to cast a ballot you have to identify as they/them, the only day polls are open is the same day as the local NASCAR race etc.

  5. Just in case any lurkers were duped by the disingenuous trolling of the human cum stain that is GRHorn, Joe Biden was speaking to GEORGE fucking Lopez in this spliced clip, in response to a question from Lopez about why undecided voters should vote. But yes, definitely the most logical conclusion is that Joe Biden momentarily believed he was running against the President from 2008.

  6. The Hispanic community as a whole has a natural conservative disposition. Huge Catholic influence, big time belief in family values, and a distrust of non-white races. The fact that the GOP doesn’t regularly carry over 50% of the Hispanic vote just shows how much their race baiting and alienation tactics have turned people off. In general, hispanics just want to blend in and be left alone. Not very politically active, not going to riot over anything, just not going to do much to draw attention usually. As a Hispanic voter I can try to give my 2 cents.. We’re not a monolith. We all come from very different backgrounds and usually mirror the political background of wherever we’re at. I feel a connection with Mexican-Americans from South Texas, since that’s my community. I don’t feel much connection with Mexican-Americans in El Paso or California or anywhere else. Or actual Mexicans from Mexico. We share little more than a heritage. There’s cultural differences, slight differences in appearance/dress usually, and even differences in language. Non-Hispanics might not notice all that but we do. And that’s just among the Mexicans. Multiply all that times Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Salvadorans, etc for even more deviation. There’s also a big “ladder puller” element in the community. People that literally or figuratively climbed into America with a ladder and pulled it up behind them so no one else can come or have success. Fuck you I got mine. I’m glad my family raised me better than that but many others do not feel the same.

  7. A guy who voluntarily posted a bunch of shit in a public forum on a public website is whining about the fact that someone (on the same site) remembered it and used it as evidence to question that person's frame of mind? As well as their judgement? As well as point out a history of questionable behavior and decisions? How ironic, considering the impunity with which you have zero problem shitting all over Hunter Biden. Or the fact you believe "The Internet" is restricting freedom of speech in favor of one side of a political party. That's rich.

  10. Smart people make educated guesses, usually erring on the side of caution, based on limited data, then amend those positions when more data becomes available. Stupid people think changing your opinion on something over time is a sign of incompetence/weakness, and love to play the "gotcha" game of holding people's feet to the fire when they alter from their initial position.

  14. Hahahahaha. Wait, for reals? Mack Brown doesn't give a shit about anything but his legacy and being able to go to his grave believing that he should have never been ousted at Texas and they'll be forever cursed by inflicting that indignity upon him. Herman was able to get Brown to his PC and such because Brown had little choice as a paid employee of the program. That was all Herman's theater in showing that the mantle had, at last, been rightly passed and now a real pro was going to bring Texas back. The only person Mack Brown is cheering for is Mack Brown.

  21. If we don’t get Urban it will be an epic screw up of historic proportions, rivaled only by having done the same thing with Saban. Frankly, to do it two times in eight years probably means the entire system is completely broken and we might as well become quidditch fans.

  27. First, not all of the $40M is incremental. We will have a coaching staff and pay them a lot of $ regardless of Meyer or not. We'll very likely make a coaching change this season based on our performance relative to opportunity, so the buyouts aren't even incremental to hiring Meyer. If you assume we're going to be paying buyouts and hiring a top tier staff no matter what, I'd argue the incremental cost of making Meyer that hire doesn't actually change the optics terribly much. Add to that, if support and excitement from the donor base is there with Meyer that isn't there with other candidates, it could actually be financially advantageous for the school to hire Meyer, assuming we have the right commitments in place. Not firing Tom Herman this year will save you short term money and optics but will have huge opportunity cost for years. Given our current trajectory on all fronts football and the importance of football to the overall AD and giving, it's hard to overstate the cost of keeping Herman. Firing Tom Herman and spending a lot of $ on the wrong candidate saves you almost nothing on optics (you're still spending a ton of $ on football in this economic climate), but possibly without the same level of donor support. You also may not fix the opportunity cost part of option 1. Firing Tom Herman and hiring Urban Meyer costs you on short term optics (agreed that they're not great), but probably has significantly higher short term financial benefits in terms of donor support and is your best opportunity cost play. Texas will likely not have a more sure thing opportunity available for football in the next 5 years, and really cannot afford to be wrong again. If you take a very short term limited perspective on hiring Meyer, it's easy to justify not doing it. If you take a longer term, wider perspective, it's hard to justify not doing it.

  28. Things that are more likely than Trump winning California: 1. An NFC East team winning the Superb Owl this year 2. @jimmyjazz deciding that the best band of the late 20th century is actually Warrant 3. @SydneyCarton converting to Mormonism 4. Tom Herman getting his shit together and winning the Big XII this year 5. Texas and Florida turning blue. I don't mean they go for Biden; I mean literally becoming the color blue, verified from satellite photographs.

  29. Let's look at what he's accomplished in 4 years. what actual legislation got passed in a Republican controlled congress S. 1094 - Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act of 2017 H.R.1957 — Great American Outdoors Act PL 115–97 - Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) - The corporate tax rate was lowered from 35% to 21% the rest was him rolling back anything Obama did. I mean there's a bunch more but these are all just normal shit everyone signs. https://www.npr.org/2017/12/27/573546883/trump-signed-96-laws-in-2017-here-is-what-they-do-and-how-they-measure-up https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-200-days-congress-regulations-laws-signed-repeal-obama-2017-8#hj-res-37-on-march-27-trump-signed-a-resolution-repealing-an-obama-era-rule-known-as-the-blacklisting-rule-which-prevented-the-government-from-working-with-contractors-who-had-been-in-violation-of-labor-laws-had-engaged-in-wage-theft-or-were-responsible-for-workplace-safety-violations-in-the-last-three-years-10 Oh in those rollback of Obama laws, he rolled back some shit that makes you remember he's a garbage human H.J.R. 40: On February 28, Trump signed a bill that repeals an Obama-era rule that prohibited the mentally disabled from being able to purchase firearms. Obama signed the executive action, which mandated that the Social Security Administration submit names of mentally ill individuals to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System following the San Bernardino terrorist attack in 2015. HJ Res 37: On March 27, Trump signed a resolution repealing an Obama-era rule, known as the "blacklisting rule," which prevented the government from working with contractors who had been in violation of labor laws, had engaged in wage theft, or were responsible for workplace safety violations in the last three years. HJ Res 44: On March 27, Trump signed a Congressional Review Act resolution abolishing an Obama-era land management rule aimed at streamlining the process for making federal land use decisions. The change will make it more difficult for the government to implement large-scale land use initiatives, including for environmental protection purposes. HJ Res 57: The president signed an action which abolished Obama-era federal standards that determined school success based on student performance. HJ Res 69: Trump signed a House resolution that abolished Obama-era hunting restrictions on national wildlife refuges in Alaska. The rule was intended to protect predator species like wolves and bears from being hunted. The rule that Trump repealed also imposed a ban on aerial hunting, live-trapping or baiting predators, and from hunting those predators while they were near their dens or cubs. HJ Res 83: In early April, Trump signed a House joint resolution which eliminated workplace safety regulations implemented by Obama which were aimed at reducing injuries and deaths in the workplace. S.J. Res. 34: Trump authorized a Congressional Review Act bill which eliminated Obama-era rules protecting private citizens' internet and browsing data from being used by their internet providers.

  35. You make fast players slow by making them think too much or putting them in positions not to take advantage of their speed. Bad tackling can be a result of not practicing tackling, or being out of position and having to try to adjust and tackle from a bad angle. Anyone who watched what Greg Robinson did with Manny Diaz players in literally weeks should know that stud players can look awfully pedestrian under the wrong coaching. Your argument is that all of the stud recruits we land, who generally have offers from elite programs, all just happen to be busts. I don't buy it. It's coaching.
