  1. The Aggies offered this WR from Wyoming ... and Perroni follows up with a gushing endorsement.

  2. It's not plausible to ask some of you guys who haven't been on this board the whole time to go back and read threads from the beginning, but it's also difficult to capture everything regarding the ATM situation in quick bullets and still do it justice. I'll do my best, but I also recommend reading the June-July pages for this thread, the ATM 2023 thread and the Texas 2023 thread if you want some additional context that is also entertaining. -ATM boosters went all-in with Fisher after what they viewed as confirmation of his future prowess - the 2020 corona season. We foretold of this to the board in the UT 2022 thread in Jan/Feb of 21. -ATM bought the bestest class ever after 8 and 4feit for the 2022 cycle. -They went so far overboard with their bag game that they broke the rules of the game itself, thus infuriating the normal dark market participants and the neighbors like Texas. Bama, UGA, Ohio State, Clemson, LSU, etc., - they weren't ready at the same monetary levels. -Meanwhile ATM is not only ignoring NIL, they're mocking it as fantasy compared to what they can do directly under the table when they talk to handlers/players/parents. They have therefore been totally blindsided by the size and scope of NIL across the recruiting landscape, and especially with Texas. Whoops. -So everyone is running them over in recruiting. Everyone is building NIL engines. All during the 2023 cycle. ATM is lost at sea, cursing the winds. -Then Saban baits the little man into public controversy. Fisher takes the bait. In doing so, he painted himself into a corner by staunchly denying using NIL ever, and relying on the wonderment of College Station as to why they signed the 2022 class. -The ATM backers were somewhat fatigued on cash outlays after the 2022 class signed. ATM fell behind in recruiting. Fisher sells the backers on Hill being the silver bullet for winning a national title. They load up specifically on offers for a few players that no one could reasonably match. Hicks and Hill being the main examples. They lock them up in July/August. -The mercenary program then flops magnificently. Transfers became the talk on the team. Hill visits in November and his future teammates tell him to not go there and that a bunch of them are leaving. -Texas keeps pushing. NIL is indeed a part of the pitch, but not at the absolute absurd level as ATM. -The ATM pitch now is that they've weeded out the problems. They're one big happy family. And Hill holds the key to their title hunt in 2023 if he'd just fucking sign on the dotted line and take their money, dammit.

  3. It's going to get better for you, still. They've lost 26 early to the portal or draft. There are others that people are counting as staying, like Russell or A Smith, simply because they haven't declared anything. They're unlikely to declare anything, unless they declare they're coming back. They've aged out of the program and folks are crossing their fingers about them claiming a corona year. With an org like that imploding, and the known discord with WR and LB rooms, the notion that graduating seniors are suddenly coming back is silly. There's like 8 of those guys. That gets you to 34 without effort. Then you have guys that haven't entered the portal that are going to enter the portal. That's Lucas at a minimum. Who here thinks there won't be 5-10 more guys between now and the end of the 2nd portal period in the spring heading into the portal? Then you have simple roster attrition. Medicals and quitters. Who here expects Bryce Foster back? If these idiots wind up with 15 recruits, while losing 45+ guys all in, they'll need to land 30-35 players in the portal. Now we know where all of the G5 jaggers are going to land, at least. I can't believe what I just typed. I have never seen anything like it. I've enjoyed watching their fans go through the process of convincing themselves that this is happening to every team in the new era and it is just the way things go. Ritz Bitz is tearing this program down to the studs in real time.

  5. That’s to me what is so amazing about Leach. That anyone could approach him and he always had anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes or sometimes even 90 for a wrong number (story up thread.) I’m sure his staff and others (family) knew he could go on and on…no doubt much to their consternation. But I bet they look at it now and wish they had those 5 more or so minutes. I was shocked to hear he went to a Christmas party the night before he died. And then after, he was lying on the couch feeling awful bc he couldn’t sleep texting friends. Selfishly I wish maybe he had gone to the hospital…gotten checked out…but maybe that doesn’t save him. When someone dies naturally we all want those 5 more minutes. The passing of Leach hurts because I think if the man could have given everyone 5 minutes he would have. I think he was spread too thin with his mounting health issues (fluid around his heart and lungs that he’d been dealing with for the bulk of the season) but I don’t think that would have stopped him from giving anyone who asked those 5 minutes. I am particularly drawn to him because my father passed away at 62. My dad and I lived in separate cities and I had called to talk to mom…he had picked up and I said, β€œhey dad, can I talk to mom real quick?” And he said in his enigmatic way, β€œsure.” That was it. He died in his sleep that night from an unexpected heart attack. (By that I mean he hadn’t been sickβ€”no health issues we knew about.) No warning. Just gone. I think about those 5 minutes a lot. If I take anything away from Mike Leach to pass on: always be yourself. Make time for those people in your orbit. Try to mentor someone. Swing your sword. Leave nothing on the table. Plunder life like a pirate. Those aren’t bad lessons and whether you liked Leach or not (politics and some of his opinions aside) he was a damn fine role model. This one just hurts. Also, he was one of the most interesting men in the universe…so there is that. First tweet is outstanding:

  6. I agree. When I found out Beard strangled his fiancee I didn't think much of it. But after finding out he goes and drinks at bars, gets annoyed when strangers try and talk to him, and hits on attractive young women I just can't stomach him being the head coach at Texas any longer.

CDC should've passed on Beard because he was engaged too long. (observation based on posts i'm reading a bunch of pages ago.)

  18. It was under serious discussion from our commander in chief in 2019 (non paywall link), and the same CIC was later in quite a bit of hot water for attempting to deny military aid to Ukraine unless Zelensky was willing to lie for our president. It's a painful and absurd time to recall, but it was very much in vogue for a certain subset of Americans (and russians) to cheer on America leaving NATO during 2019 along the lines of a grievance that other nations weren't paying their fair share

  23. I really don’t think there were many that hated Leach. He definitely annoyed people at times, but he was an open book, and he threw the kitchen sink at opponents on the field. Most people appreciated that. Even Aggie fans have been praising him, and he tormented and tweaked them like no other team and fan base. He was like the class clown- he’d get in trouble and the teacher would get angry, but he’d always say something so funny afterward that it was hard to stay mad at him. I never met Leach, but I know quite a few guys who played for and coached with him. To a man, they talk about how fun it was to spend time with him, whether football related or not, and that he took a genuine interest in people and their lives and kept up with them for years, calling and texting randomly to check on them or congratulate them on their accomplishments. See Dana Holgerson’s tweets or Lincoln Riley’s tweet. Leach wanted to help people develop into the best people they could become. He took being a teacher and mentor very seriously and was great at it. The man loved life and he loved people, and he loved to be friends with as many people as he could. He was the kind of guy who made everyone feel like his best friend or like the most important person in the world. We’ll miss Mike Leach the football coach and personality a ton. The loss of Mike Leach the human is the much bigger loss.

  24. Clicking on that link, it’s hilarious how every CFB message board reads virtually the same except around the margins. Player X isn’t coming here because School Y paid him more than we thought he was worth. Doesn’t make sense why he would go there when we have [open depth chart/winning tradition]. We’ll get him in the portal next year. We don’t need him because the coaches are so high on [significantly less talented recruit]. On and on

  25. These fucking idiots just don't want to believe that they looked like total shit at LB this year while we just developed a low 3* to one of the best in the nation and not to mention Overshown was better than anything they rolled out this year as well. And what attractive DL? Sure, it looked good on recruiting sites until they're getting pushed around to 200+ rushing yards a game. Howell knows it's going to be Texas next week, he just doesn't want to flat out say it to delay the meltdown another week.

  27. This thread is funny to read. There is zero public pressure for Griffin to lose his job but you have the typical whiners in here complaining about cancel culture for no reason whatsoever. Well, I guess there's a reason but it's just that they're scared of their shadows because they've been told to be. CANCEL CULTURE IS EVERYWHERE SOMEBODY HOLD ME
