This is going to be like the Hershel Walker trade to the Vikings where we sent Hudson Card to Purdue and then they sent us like 5 players in return.47 points

I’m seeing a lot of worrying about the numbers here. Get a hold of yourselves. The only person around here needing to worry about numbers right now is Helobious.40 points

So just postulating here... But if Texas signs a pretty good DL haul from the portal, it pretty much has to be taken as fact that it's because Helobious really fucking knows his way around other men's shafts, right? Like a once in a generation dong director kind of skillset. A real boss of the hog. A succesful portal outcome makes this fait accompli. Or his skillset makes a succesful portal outcome fait accompli, however you guys like to view it.26 points

The Welcome to Texas sign is a nice touch for the kid who was born and raised in Cypress, went to school in Cypress, went to Texas A&M, and is now moving to Houston.25 points

The greater problem here is that capitalism has run amok. It has created a massive wealth divide in this country that is only getting worse and creates countless problems that disrupt and destabilize society. We can’t even have fair elections because Elon will threaten to primary anyone who threatens his fragile ego. The specific problem here is that capitalism has invaded healthcare. It’s impossible to ethically provide healthcare to the masses when you have a few multi-billion dollar companies who get to decide what degree of care is provided, and those companies are driven by profits and a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders, as well as the greed of their own executives. Brian Thompson and Luigi Mangione are just symptoms of the system America has developed over decades. It’s less surprising that it happened and more surprising that it doesn’t happen more often. I don’t know what the fix is. There probably isn’t one. Maybe these are the problems that eventually reach a tipping point and result in a social uprising. I’m not happy about any murders but I’ll save my tears for school shooting victims and let other people worry about CEOs.21 points

I signed up for “this” site in 2011. I wonder what I would’ve thought if someone came up to me then and said “you know one day there’s going to be over 5 pages in a thread on here about you giving handjobs for defensive tackle transfers”.20 points

I mean, obviously the best AD in the world would hire an alcoholic he has to constantly babysit who has no ability to build a program and will just call plays and shake hands. Hiring a real Head Coach like the Elk causes too many headaches. That's just good AD'ing right there.18 points

When the punishment for a crime is a fine, it's legalizing crime for rich people/entities. Remember when TD Bank (and some others too I think) laundered drug money for the cartels? They literally changed the cashier's windows to be able to fit the duffel bags full of cash the cartels were bringing them. That's how much money they were washing for these murderous psychos. Fined $3 Billion. Which was like one day of revenue for them or some shit. The people at these corporations have completely subverted the social contract for profits. If the government/law isn't willing to bring them to heel, it's no surprise that the citizenry will be ok with regular people doing it themselves.18 points

I know I’ve belabored it before, but I have friends who were involved with the ESPN and On3 ratings. In both situations, contemporaneously, they said the guys running the ratings did not want to rate Manning #1 overall because of the fear of being wrong. They got bullied by dimwits like Mike Farrell and Billy Liucci running around social media touting Manning as a 3 star player with a 5 star name. Those guys all deserve to be mocked every time they mention a ranking.17 points

Jesus Christ! Would you people please stfu about the Miami Cotton Bowl! This thread is for making fun of the gomers, not slamming our own fingers in a door by reliving that frozen hellscape nightmare from three decades ago.16 points

Also, as long as you don't count last year when he won a big 12 title, Sark has never won a big 12 title. What kind of program building head coach can't win a big 12 title, other than the big 12 title he did win.16 points

Are we contributing to a Burnt Hands fund, to pay for Helobious‘ tennis elbow?15 points

Amazing the way CDC keeps Sark under wraps, because Sark has no idea of the intangibles needed to build a program.15 points

Any other punters that had 64 punts for 44.9 avg (41.8 net) with 17 inside the 20 that we can bring in? they don’t even have to be 6’3, we can just list them as such.15 points

A reminder that ESPN rated Malachi Nelson as the number 1 overall recruit, and they had Arch at number 5, also behind Dante Moore and Jackson Arnold, both of which have also transferred.15 points

Russian Telegram channels publish news that a senior official responsible for developing missiles and drones used to attack Ukraine was allegedly shot dead in Moscow. Mikhail Shatsky was a deputy director of Russia's Mars design bureau and was involved in modernizing guided missiles from Kh-59 to Kh-69 and developing new drones. Russian journalist Aleksandr Nevzorov claims Ukraine's military intelligence conducted the operation and an assassinator fled the crime scene.15 points

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/oklahoma-sooners-unofficial-40/id1114209557?i=1000680069528 This is awesome. They discuss the portal and… -how much they need offensive talent, and how difficult it is to get it interested in the 2025 Oklahoma Sooners. (They have no receivers) -how much more difficult it is to retain offensive talent than they expected (budgeted for) -they believe they have a $14M budget, and how that should be competitive -how they hate where the sport is, and how they wish there was a salary cap. I love this. In the mid ‘70s, as Royal was complaining about OU and others buying players, against the rules, Switzer was mocking him. He would say, “Texas just has a bunch of lazy, old coaches that just don’t want to work at recruiting. He would do better if he worked instead of pointed fingers.” To OU, now, I would say, “Maybe you guys should stop complaining about how the game is, now, and just work harder”.😂15 points
