You methodically built up tremendous credibility on Surly over many years. Itβs been an impressive run. But you just completely destroyed it all in one post. You are now on the level of Rocko, TxTow, and Helobious.28 points

In the quiet of an offline conversation, Sarkisian is capable of expressing genuine disdain for the ATM football program. Heβs not a fan of Elko either. A lot of it carries over from Fisher and Elko fucking the state of affairs for everyone while he was still at Bama. A lot of their bullshit about him with recruits and the media (feeding negative shit to their people in the media and the national guys) started when he was there and carried over to Texas. Fisher is a piece of human shit. Excluding Elko from that label for the time being, but heβs not some jolly kind man just because heβs fatter than Santa Claus. So it is funny to me that the aggie fanbase is so desperate to hate him. They have a pathological need to both deify their coaches and vilify the Texas coaches. Sarkisian will never say a negative thing about them in public, yet theyβll manufacture their anger because of some psychological shortcoming as a fanbase that only they possess. In any event, he gets them in ways it only took the bonfire game for Mack Brown to comprehend. I think heβs going to do everything he can to blow them out everytime Texas plays them.26 points

His proportions are not just incorrect. They reveal the foundational flaw and evil in modern conservative thought: their "feelings" about an issue absolutely trump and void any and all facts. Sheeeit posits that out of 10 people arrested: 10% will be wrongly arrested (that number is perhaps high, but genuinely unknown -- the percentage of genuinely legal residents arrested (green cards, actual citizens) remains tough to sort out at present) 20% will be ordinary, otherwise law-abiding and productive people just living their lives and working (this percentage is the OPPOSITE of the actual ratio)...and 70% will be "really horrible people" (again, a percentage that is even MORE the OPPOSITE of what has been seen thus far -- around 8% of people arrested have some sort of serious criminal activity on their record) THEN, he uses HIS bias of the facts as HE believes them to assail NPR for being counter-factual in its bias. No, I'm sorry, I know facts hurt conservatives' feelings, but they're still facts. The reason that all objective journalism on this planet is painting a shittastic picture of the actions of this admin is because....those actions are genuinely shittastic. Even outfits that are seen as generally center-right (like the Economist) tell the identical tale. Why? Because....the facts are the facts. I listen to NPR in the morning. They REGULARLY invite conservative officials and commentators on to discuss the issues....and those people REGULARLY state outlandish, counter-factual bullshit. I mean, obvious and insane counter-factual bullshit. And when the host politely prods "but how to you respond to the analysis that shows that only 8% of the people arrested have a serious criminal record," they just lie some fucking more. And NPR gets painted as "liberal biased" because it says "ummm....what you're saying does not match up to the known data, do you have different data you can share?" There is no honest discussion with people whose entire worldview is based on the lie that their feelings are superior to all objective facts. Those people are called "authoritarians," and they are the enemy of any functioning nation state.22 points

1,000,000 x 1,000 x 29. Imagine what you'd do with a million dollars. Now, imagine what you'd do with a million dollars times one thousand. Then, multiply that by 29. $29 billion is an obscene amount of money for simply breathing air. There's not a single human being living on Planet Earth who deserves such an obscene amount of money.16 points

This is the foundational problem. Reporting on simple facts, like "the temperature data gathered in the Gulf of Maine over the past 50 years shows that the body has reached a temp 4 degrees warmer than its long-term average" is liberal slant/bias. You have a POTUS firing the head of the BLS because....it reported and adjusted job numbers using the EXACT same methodology it has used forever, including during his first term, Obama's term, Biden's term, etc. Reporting of ACTUAL FACTS is...to use the exact word from the leader of "conservatives" is "rigged." A society never gets over that. We are going to gut every single entity that gathers or reports on objective data and facts. Because....objective data and facts are enemy #1 of an authoritarian government. It's not any more complicated than that.16 points

Virginia Guiffre's statement to Ghislane Maxwell, read by Guiffre's attorney in court the day Maxwell was sentenced, June 28, 2022. "Twenty-two years ago, in the summer of 2000, you spotted me at Mar-a-Lago in Florida, and you made a choice: You chose to follow me and procure me for Epstein. Just hours later, you and he abused me together for the first time. Together you damaged me physically, mentally, sexually and emotionally. Together you did unthinkable things that still have a corrosive impact on me to this day. I want to be clear about one thing: Without question, Jeffrey Epstein was a terrible pedophile, but I never would have met Jeffrey Epstein if not for you. βFor me, and for so many others, you opened the door to hell, and then, Ghislaine, like a wolf in sheepβs clothing, you used your femininity to betray us and you led us all through it. When you did that, you changed the course of our lives forever. βYou joked that you were like a new mother to us. As a woman, I think you understood the damage that you were causing, the price you were making us victims pay. You could have put an end to the rapes, the molestation, the sickening manipulation that you arranged, witnessed, and even took part in. You could have called the authorities and reported that you were part of something awful. βI was young and naΓ―ve when we met, but you knew that. In fact, you were counting on it. My life as a young person was just beginning. You robbed me of that by exploiting my hopes and ambitions. βGhislaine, the pain you have caused me is almost indescribable. Because of your choices and the world you brought me into, I donβt sleep. Nightmares wake me at all hours. In those dreams, I relive the awful things that you and others did to me and the things that you forced me to do. Those memories will never go away. I have trouble meeting new people without questioning if somehow theyβre going to hurt me, too. There is not a day that doesnβt go by that I donβt ask why. Why did you enjoy hurting us so much? βI worry every single day and night that you will get away with it and evade being punished. I will worry about that until youβre brought to justice. And what should that justice look like? Ghislaine, you deserve to spend the rest of your life in prison in a jail cell.β She added, βYou deserve to be trapped in a cage forever just like you trapped your victims.β16 points

Due to the bizarre meta nature of topic discussions on this board, discussing Texas A&M for the 2025 football season, like those before it, has become a bizarre exercise in either posting on the ATM recruiting thread or the football board "Tell me about A&M" thread, neither of which actually wind up satisfying the purpose of staying updated on the team. This is a similar phenomenon for every other team any of us would give a shit about besides Texas itself. Given that, I decided to start a new thread for the express purpose of tracking 2025 itself for Texas 8&4. I'll post my preseason thoughts here, and then I, and hopefully others, can provide updates towards and into the season when there's something new regarding the aggies. Will I be the only person tracking this thread and wind up posting to myself in an echo chamber? Wouldn't be the first time. Still, it's our little brother rival and I get tired of trying to parse signal from noise in other threads when it comes to their team. In regard to their outlook for 2025, here are my thoughts, offense first: QB: QB1 Marcel Reed (Soph); QB2 Jacob Zeno (SR); QB3 Miles OβNeill (FR); QB4 Brady Hart (FR) β Reed is slight and short, coming in at 6β2β, 180 lbs. Neither of those are accurate. Heβs shorter than 6β2β and likely 5-10 pounds less than the sad 180 in his listing. Heβs not some witch with escapability, but he is mobile. Klein likes to run his QBs and Reedβs arm isnβt begging to be heavily utilized. I wouldnβt be surprised if he got hurt and stayed hurt, prompting 7th year guy Zeno to fit into aggie fansβ favorite role, the elevated back-up QB. RB: RB1 LaβVeon Moss (SR); RB2 Reuben Owens (Soph); RB3 Amari Daniels (SR); RB4 EJ Smith (SR) β Moss was having a quality season last year before going down to injury. It sounds like heβs recovered and aggies are justified in expecting another good season. Owens went down early, came back late, and continued sucking from his Freshman year. Few RBs have been hyped this far into their career without having broken an arm tackle or 4 ypc (3.9), but this guy gets discussed every time an aggie preview is discussed. Daniels is the personification of average and Smith is worse than that. Moss needs to stay healthy for ATM to do much on offense. TE: TE1 Theo Melin Ohrstrom (JR); TE2 Amari Niblacj (SR); TE3 Nate Boerkircher (SR); TE4 Micah Riley (SR) β The Swede is βreally coming on!β and then weβll see him this fall continue to disappear into the field, like a magic trick. They started talking shit about Niblack in the spring, but thatβs been toned down. Now that itβs clear heβs allergic to contact and wonβt learn the playbook, letβs see them smirk about luring him away from mean olβTexas for $500k that Texas had no intention of matching. Today I learned that βBoerkircherβ means βalso ranβ in Dutch. Micah Riley is rushing Sigma Chi this fall and might not even be able to attend most practices. WR-X: WR1 Mario Craver (Soph); WR2 Ashton Bethel-Roman (Soph); WR3 Jerome Myles (FR) β Craver was a good get from the portal. He averaged over 21 ypc last year at Miss State and he has 3 years left to play. Heβs a burner. Is he going to be a world beater in Kleinβs offense like the aggies believe? Right. They also talk up this ABR guy a lot but I donβt recall him in a game or in recruiting. Myles is a 5 star that didnβt get to campus until this summer. Why on earth a 5 star WR would go to ATM to play for Klein is beyond me. Itβs not like money isnβt available elsewhere. WR-Z: WR1 Terry Bussey (Soph); WR2 Jonah Wilson (Soph); WR3 Kelshaun Johnson (FR) β Busseyβs displaying all of the issues discussed about him before he landed on campus β heβs raw, heβs been sheltered in 2A and the bright lights are a lot, and heβs not necessarily actually a WR. Theyβre talking about incorporating a bunch of screens and jet sweeps to leverage his size/speed combo. Wilson, former UT commit who Texas didnβt want to lose, went to UH to be their star and busted out. Johnson is another guy that Sarkisian wanted who didnβt want to have to fight for the limelight in a crowded WR room. WR-Y: WR1 KC Concepcion (JR); WR2 Isaiah Williams (FR) β Concepcion had a great freshman season at NC State and became a well-known weapon to CFB fans. Bizarrely, he had a terrible sophomore year without injury. His numbers got worse while the rest of the offenseβs numbers got better. NCSU lowered their NIL offer for the upcoming season and Concepcion left their locker room looking for a sucker in the portal. Found them! The aggie talking heads talk about this guy as though heβs a burner. Itβs bizarre. He averaged less than 9 ypc last year and less than 12 ypc in 2023. Meanwhile, the aggies poo-poo the loss of Noah Thomas to the portal and the Georgia mods are drooling about his performance so far in their fall camp. LT: LT1 Trey Zuhn III (SR); LT2 Lamont Rogers (FR); LT3 Robert Bourdon(FR) β Zuhn is a good OT, the aggies claim heβs a great OT. Heβs not a mauler, but heβs competent and stays in front of his guys pretty well. Depth behind him is horrific, so aggies need to pray he stays healthy. LG: LG1 Chase Bisontits (JR); LG2 Ashton Funk (FR); LG3 Isendra Ahfua (FR) β Bisontits is getting all kinds of hype from the ATM side. I think Liucci said something ludicrous like heβs going to be an early draft pick next year. Heβs a better Guard than Tackle, thatβs for sure. Iβm sure heβll continue his progression from dogshit to mediocre to perhaps above average. Again, he better stay healthy because depth is an issue behind him. C : C1 Mark Nabou (JR); C2 Kolinuβu Faaiu (SR) β Nabou went down early against ND and missed the year. The aggies are high on him coming back. He was decent in 2023, so if healthy, this could be a solid return on the OL. Notice the depth behind these guys here as well. Attrition in the portal from guys like Shanahan could cause some ugly chickens to come home to roost this season. RG: RG1 Armaj Reed-Adams (SR); RG2 Blake Ivey (FR) β Reed-Adams was one of the 3 players that The Elk took to SEC Media Days and heβs a returning all conference caliber player. He is actually someone theyβre hyping as a quality draft pick and I believe them. Ivey is a guy with a history of shoulder issues. This, again, is a really thin spot on their OL. RT: RT1 Demetrious Crownover (SR); RT2 Reuben Fatheree (SR) β Crownover has turned into a league average RT, which is saying a lot. He was atrocious early on at ATM. Fatheree continues to be listed as a viable candidate on their roster for PT, but I donβt see it. He is a shadow of his pre-injury self and theyβve been really reluctant to give him snaps. Good luck if Crownover is hurt. The aggies have been big on touting that theyβre returning their entire OL for this season. Anyone would, I guess, but based on last year, are they managing anyoneβs expectations effectively? No. This OL has a chance to be decent, which would be an improvement. Itβs not going to win the Joe Moore Award, and thatβs what those assclowns are talking like. If the injury bug shows up at all in BCS at the OL positions, those guys need to light their cigarettes right about then, because the lack of depth in that area on their roster says theyβll have just been fucked. Offensive Coaching: Collin Klein gets talked about every year as some sort of up and coming coaching star. His hire was lauded as a stroke of wizardry by The Elk in the winter of 2023. Apparently, none of the people talking in that way bothered to look anything up about the guy. He had his playcalling duties removed at KSU. KSU had no issues with helping the guy pack when he let them know that ATM had reached out. Then the aggie fans watched last season and perpetually scratched their heads about the offense. Klein likes to use the QB in the run game a lot. Reed has the speed for it, but heβs bound for injury with overuse. The OL is expected to be a force, but those expectations seem lofty. The skill talent is being hailed as a source of strength for the aggie roster as well. The WRs might be better, but thatβs a guess right now. Thereβs nothing interesting at TE. Moss is a good one at TB. All in all, the offense has a chance to be above average if they can stay healthy, but expecting some type of top 25 performing unit, which is how theyβre talking, seems farfetched.14 points

On MTG: Trump fears her brain. You're almost there, Austin. So close. Think before you answer. If government harms small business to bankruptcy but not big business, who might government be serving? Here's the graduate level question Austin. No, take off the red cap. You can do it. Gooood. Now the question: Who would take over the market share left when small businesses vanish? No, not the Mexicans. Think. Small Business and Big Business are the only two owners of a pie. Yes. A strawberry rhubarb pie if you like. Yum yuum. Okay, only two people own the pie, but one of them dies. How many people own the pie? Do you want one person, big business, to own all the pie? Forget about the scary brown people. And the socialists...14 points

Devastating loss. Offensive tackle was already one of our weakest position groups in terms of depth. Lack of elite options at RB and the current state of the O-line just makes Manning's job harder.13 points

I kinda hope we see Texas move forward with this effort, because I think the Republicans will fuck it up and not gain the 5 seats as promised. Trump won't be on the ballot in 26, and lots of independents don't like this version of him. I think the Rs may be putting other seats in jeopardy that they assume are safe, and this could lead to a some upheaval in the state reps currently in power. It wouldn't be the worst thing if that happened even if the numbers slightly change. More importantly, this nakedly obvious illegal and unethical power grab will give several blue states the motivation and reason to do the same, in a way that will be a huge net positive for the Dems seats in Congress. They have to fight fire with fire, and if they actually believe their warnings of "losing democracy forever" are true, then they need to occupy every seat possible to prevent it. California can definitely squeeze a few Rs out of power, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, etc could all pick up a few more seats. If they all do it, it would result in a seismic shift that could prevent the House from turning red for another decade. The only reason Mike Johnson is even in power is because so many red and purple states have already done what Texas is threatening. So fuck them, fuck playing fair and doing the right thing, moral victories are for losers. Go win the damn thing and start blocking the dumb shit this administration spews out. Fight dirty, fight clean, whatever it takes, just actually fucking fight it.13 points

Conservative media today would be nowhere as even-handed as Buckley, who actually believed in the exchange of ideas. Incidentally, Firing Line was restarted in 2009 with Herbert Hoover's granddaughter as host. She is conservative, and former Fox commentator, but anti Trump, as I suspect Buckley would have been. If there's any liberal slant in PBS/NPR, I suspect it's really in PBS News' various shows. But, the presence of Firing Line in the lineup indicates more of an effort at even-handedness than most. I suspect that those of you claiming its liberal captured don't listen to NPR or watch PBS. Like most things, you've been suckered by propaganda. Also, caught up on some American Experience and Frontline. The AE on German American Bund was excellent. Almost completely factual, but it has darky and Jew commentators (woke!). It's timing is felicitous, as is the one on the Gilded Age. THAT is the very subtle liberal slant of PBS.13 points

Regarding ATM's schedule: 8/30 6pm - UTSA β Everyone is chalking this match-up in ATMβs favor to the point of it being a blowout. Maybe that happens. That considered, UTSA returns their QB, TB, 2 WRs, TE, 4 OL starters and 8 out of 11 starters on the defense. Traylorβs a good coach, this was a bowl team in 2024, and he might see this as an opportunity to interview for the future ATM job opening. I expect a close game. Like ATM, UTSA is loaded with former highly ranked players who fled their original teams for the portal. There is a pedigree of talent on the UTSA roster. 9/6 11:45am β Utah State β These guys fired their HC after going 4-8 and hired Bronco Mendenhall, who is on one of the weirdest coaching journeys this side of Dick Rod. They were decimated by the portal but do have Bryson Barnes, formerly of Utah βPig Farmerβ fame. Looks like a grim one for the aggies. The Utah State Aggies. 9/13 5:30pm - @ Notre Dame -Notre Dame returns a lot of talent. 54 starts on the OL 2 deep, Greathouse, Love, and 6 starters on defense. They have question marks at QB, TE and explosiveness at WR. Love might be the best returning RB in the country and the OL is going to be good. Freeman knows defense as well as anyone. I donβt expect a blowout, but ATM is an institutional disaster when it comes to big road games. 9/20 β OFF 9/27 5-7pm - Auburn - A lot of people are sleeping on Auburn for 2025. Maybe that's justified, I don't know. Freeze has been a disappointment. Arnold has been a disappointment. But, Freeze has recruited really well. Auburn has, potentially, an amazing WR corps. They return 3 OLs, a likely 1st round pick at Edge and the entire secondary except Jerrin Thompson. DJ Durkin has yet to kill anyone there, also. This one should be physical. Auburn is coming off of a road game at OU and this will be too much for them unless theyβve really turned a corner. 10/4 5-7pm β Mississippi State β If Shapen is healthy, MSU should be a better team this season. They return tons of experience and they have talent on defense. Iβd be stunned if they beat ATM, but I will also be stunned if this is a blowout. 10/11 2:30-7pm - Florida β If Lagway is healthy, this is a team with enough talent and experience coming back to remember the beating ATM put on them last year in The Swamp. 10/18 2:30-7pm - @ Arkansas β Arkansas got beat up by the portal, which is embarrassing. They kept their QB, though, and heβs capable of giving someone fits. The DC, Travis Williams, had an excellent gameplan last year at home against Tennessee and they stupefied Iamaleava all game. I could see Arkansas doing this against ATM in this spot, as itβs a sandwich away game between the big Florida game and going to Death Valley the following week. Still, Arkansas seems to go out of their way to lose this game on an annual basis, so my expectations are low. 10/25 2:30-7pm - @ LSU - I did a write-up on LSU on a recruiting thread discussion and I've spoilered that below. The bottom line is that LSU is going to be good this year, but they're also not a top 10 team. Nussmeier gets a ton of credit for being a guy that can really hit a 10 yard out or dig decently. 11/1 - OFF 11/8 2:30-7pm - @ Missouri β Mizzou was a paper tiger in 2024 and everyone knew it. Once they were exposed later in the year, the bloom was off the rose for 2025 expectations. They lost key talent all over the field. I expect them to struggle to get to a winning record. (I wrote this for them in my OU schedule write-up from June. Iβve since read more on them and looked at their schedule and disagree with the preceding sentence.) β If Pribula is decent, Missouri has transfer talent at RB (ULMβs Hardy) and WR (MSUβs Coleman) plus most of their OL is returning, as is much of the defense. ATM made a mockery of Mizzou in BCS last year and this game will be circled on a weak schedule for Missouri. ATM sucks on the road. I expect this to be a match-up of ranked paper tigers, at best. 11/15 11am β South Carolina - SCar has two of the best players at their position in the country in Sellers (QB) and Stewart (Edge). They have to replace a metric ton around both of them. SCar is going to be overranked heading into this season and, by that, I mean they'll be ranked. Still, I'm sure they'll be a tough team and they certainly have no fear for ATM after last season. 11/22 11am β Samford - Another brave scheduling choice by them Fightinβ Texas Aggies! These FCS games can get fucked. 11/28 6:30pm - @ Texas β If Texas is healthy, I expect Sarkisian to let his team get biblical on this ATM team and send a message to everyone involved with football in this state. 12/6 3pm β SEC Championship Game - LOL Outlook: ATM is going to open the season ranked, yet again. I didnβt go further back than 2018, but only in 2018 and the absurd 2020 season has ATM finished a season ranked higher than when they started and, for the most part, they havenβt finished ranked at all. Then we see the same process each offseason. βMoves are madeβ and βplayer X is really coming onβ and then Liucci and his PR machine go out and sell to anyone and everyone that this coming season, the sleeping giant will awaken! And then ATM usually shits itself and we all point and laugh. I donβt see the outcome being any different this season. Theyβve convinced themselves and anyone who will listen that theyβre a tough out who has a lot to play for with a talented roster. The problem is, the roster isnβt that talented. Luckily for ATM, their schedule is a pretty lame draw in the SEC, avoiding Bama, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. I see losses to Notre Dame, Texas and LSU, all being road games. Theyβll inevitably flub another game or two and then choke a bowl game away. Same shit as always.12 points
