I see a lot of upset threads on the football forum this morning, but this ain't one of those threads.  We're all very proud of your B- in Psych 101.

I think most of us who work in these related fields find it more amusing that the very people who've designed this investment system are the ones pouting about it.

They're not the same people.

the Yale Endowment model is known the world over for best practices on how to grow your endowment.  We follow it at Texas Exes, I've worked with UTIMCO & TPSF on adopting it.

And the Yale Endowment model worked so well for so long for two reasons:  Weapons & Oil.

Half the kids at that protest benefit directly from it, if not more.

This isn't a good argument.  The world is changing.  Leaders should lead with solutions.  There are other investments besides fossil fuels.

You don't know who is benefitting if you want to be honest.  Why would you say so?

Maybe some of their great-grandparents designed it, but none of the people on that field did.

And my point was, it's silly to be outraged by what they did any more than by the fact that there was probably a lot of underage drinking going on in that stadium, too. Neither thing impacts any of the rest of us.

it'd be real cool if they did their bucket list activity somewhere relevant to their alleged argument.

Either that, or their goal was simple disruption.

Typical...

I applaud the protest. I think it's clever. I think the issue is worthy.

Sports stations have a policy of not showing interruptions of games so as not to encourage streakers or protesters. It'd be funny if they turned their cameras away while news stations went live with it. I think the sports policy is fine, by the way.

Like Walden Ponderer, I find the disdain amusing and familiar from CR.

it isn't a CR thing. its an old white dude thing and surly is nothing but my homie. party on friends.

I don't know who is benefitting from how their endowment is invested?  I'm literally looking at their endowment investment thesis right now.

Does it have the names of the kids at the protest on it?

If that's too literal, then what did you mean?

Here's another way to put it: there are a lot of us here not too happy with the choice of Herman as our coach.  But we didn't make the decision to hire him.  Others did.  We didn't extend the contract extension to him, someone else did.  But we're stuck with him and there's nothin WE can do about it.  That's the same situation these protesters are in.

The groups of people with vested interests.  I wasn’t angry just pointing something out.  Nevermind.  My fault for starting a dialogue about something real with you on a football thread.  Please have me banned.  You are beyond annoying.

If you would like we can start a thread on current events board about how endowments work even at Yale and Harvard.   The only anger on the football board right now is at the Longhorn football team and coach Herman.   Your bullshit is entirely miss guided on this thread so let’s have a more investment base discussion on a different forum.

Holy shit you’re a fucking beating

I don’t give a shit what people protest, but when your protest interferes with my life you can stick it up your ass.

The Harvard-Yale game isn't important in anybody's life, not even the players and coaches. Maybe to gamblers. Did you have money on the game?

That's cool that you were there.  You were there though, right?

Otherwise, I highly doubt this interfered with your life in any way whatsoever.

I am amused by those who are upset by this protest.

Validity of the issues aside, this is fucking Harvard and Yale -- it's not like they stopped play in the middle of the Sugar Bowl. How many people were even watching, prior to the protest?

Upset?  Nah.  Just amused at the total disconnect that these “brave” people have sacrificing their lives for this cause.  Unfortunately no one would notice if they didn’t interrupt the the sporting event to try to get some attention.  The need to feel important is strong with these Ivy Leaguers.  This is soooooo Mensa.

30 minutes

Harvard was leading Yale 15-3 during the game in New Haven, Connecticut when the students ran into midfield as halftime was ending. The game was delayed for nearly 30 minutes until students were escorted out of the field by police.

Well those players are actually there to play school.

These players probably have a greater passion for their sport than the typical college athlete except for the service academies.  Greater time demand for school yet they still find the time to practice, workout, etc.  This game probably means more to them and they have to deal with these idiots.  If they were protesting CTE then I might understand but even then it’s a bullshit thing to do.

Most/all of them are playing football just for the admittance.

Why does it bother you so much?

Because Houston traffic, and Houston drivers, make my balls ache and my asshole itch. Because Texas football has sucked for far longer than I care to remember. Because I’m old and grumpy, and nothing on my body works very well any more. I guess I’m just tired of all the douchebag fucksticks that that think their opinion is more important than anyone else’s and that the whole world needs to stop so they can tell me how to act and what to believe because they’re so much smarter than I am. And of course they are sure they have the right, nay the obligation, to inconvenience me and fuck my life up just to make sure that I listen and pay attention to their sage wisdom. And also because my ex is a bitch who deserves to be hit in the face with a shovel. I should also mention that I despise Christmas carols, Christmas decorations, and the whole idea of an over commercialized Christmas holiday.

Preach on. I agree . Out of rep .

I am sure all of the protestors went back to their carbon neutral tiny homes after the event, and used their responsibly sourced  and built communication device, ( not an iPhone or Android) , maybe a homing pigeon or pedicab , to communicate with each other and congratulate themselves on their success. It would be hypocritical of course if the used a product that was made with child slave labor in a country that is the worst and most toxic polluter on the planet and that gives the rest of the world the finger when they suggest a change. It’s impossible for the protesters to be that obtuse of course. No way that could happen.

Soooooo, I can put you down for a no on your support for the protesters.

Mkay, great.  Was making a joke and you seem to have the sense of humor of the serial killer from Yale who told me that joke.  Have a nice evening.

Or facebook Live broadcast all of them getting sterilized.  No more children is the by far and away the most effective way to neutralize your hydrocarbon footprint.  Plus, no more Ivy legacy douchebags running around.  Win-Win.

Still doesn’t change the fact that they bust their ass training and that the game was very important to them.  These protesters should hop on a boat to China and protest the people really causing the problem but that wouldn’t work out very well for Biff and Suzy protester.

It always amuses me when people get bent out of shape over protests.

People didn't buy tickets and file into the stadium to watch a protest.  Would you get bent out of shape if I barged into your house and took over your TV to watch the Big Ten Network or would you be "amused"?  Everybody can protest everything on their own dime and own time.  Don't hold others hostage to your particular hissy fit.

Wouldn't the protest just be considered a pre game show ?
