The only reasonable explanation at this point is this guy likes having and exerting control over substantial portions of the population.  A real saint, I tell ya.

Yeah. That’s the only reasonable explanation.

Some pretty good points..

Absolutely bonkers that 70% of Democrats think that the chances of getting hospitalized from Covid is above 20%.  Explains a lot.

Maher has done a good job recently of calling out the radical and woke left.

And glad Maher mentioned DeSantis, who is batting almost 1.000 over the past year.

How bonkers is it that we have a clear path to ending this thing (get enough folks vaccinated), and we’re already approaching a stall because 50% of people who stand on one side of the political aisle won’t get a vaccine? Is that bonkers enough for you?

I think that the “after you are vaccinated, still wear a full NBC suit” approach is madness....but that madness wont prolong the pandemic. The “I won’t get a shot because it’s all a hoax and I won’t let Bill Gates and George Soros control me” approach is madness that’s going to keep the pandemic chugging along. I’m most angry at the approach that is going to hurt us the most. And it’s that one.

Pausing j&j was fucking dumb.

It...

A) will prolong the pandemic, especially in rural america where getting two shots is a lot more difficult

B ) adds fuel to the "vaccines aren't safe" crowd

C) Will kill more people due to getting covid because they aren't vaccinated than they will because they developed blood clots

Yep. Huge mistake pausing it. Just going to fuel the anti vaxxers and keep people from getting it.

you may not follow him regularly...but he rarely 'totes the lefts narrative'. i would venture he is disliked pretty evenly by both sides. i mean, he is and has always been 'politically incorrect'.

i appreciated his segment last night.

he's willing to call the left out in the face of overwhelmingly obvious situations but he generally runs with the left narrative up until that point.  he's better than most because at least he's willing to bend sometimes.

I see all gods children in my practice. With my patients, resistance to covid vaccine cuts across all political religious and ethnic lines. I’ve stopped trying to guess because it’s so random who is anti vax. And some that are all about their flu vaccine won’t get the Covid.

Are you vaccinated?  I am.  I also wear a mask in businesses that require masks.  It’s not real hard to separate the “ilk”.  I don’t care what your politics are, if you’re anti mask and or anti-vax you’re a fucking dumbass and are a danger to your fellow citizens.

How bonkers is it that we have a clear path to ending this thing (get enough folks vaccinated), and we’re already approaching a stall because the CDC/FDA, under President Biden, suspended use of the J & J vaccine, resulting in the cancellation of hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of vaccine appointments and undermining public trust in vaccines? It is sad that due to the actions of one side of the political aisle we just took a giant step back in the fight against Covid.

I hope that sounds as absurd as your post. And you’re a great poster, no offense.

Other than the fact that among sane people, that action shouldn’t undermine our trusts in vaccines and the process....it should reinforce it. But among our population, you’re dead on that the effect will be negative,

We should run all of our policies through a “how would abject morons perceive this?” filter and proceed accordingly.

No, it’s not just them. There’s absolutely an organic granola bag of nutbars. But among Dem voters, it’s around 4% who say they’ll never get vaxxed....among Republicans voters, it’s around 50%. That’s a big fucking number, and it will have an effect.

I guess 41% is around 50%. That’s law school rounding right?

I’ll have to dig it back up, but saw recent polling that had it at 50%. But in any case...since contingency fees are often 40%, rounding up to 50 does my lawyer heart good. :)

That madness on the full body suit will prolong the pandemic. It signals that the vaccine doesn’t work/there is no upside to getting it for many dumbasses. It’s awful messaging that will be partly responsible for killing people. I won’t weep for those bc they are choosing not to get their shot which is stupid AF, but it doesn’t help to have dickhead Fauci doing his doom porn routine or Biden whose been vax’ed double bagging it. Absolutely dogshit optics and massive fail by the government/leaders.

Fully vaccinated. Still throw a mask on when running into the store or if we go to an restaurant or whatever. For one, most places still require it, and in general we’re not there yet on herd immunity, so good to keep up that very simple mitigation measure. It’s not hard. Anyone losing their shit over it is a stupid pussy who desperately needs to get laid or find a hobby or something.

Definitely a recalibration of behavior in general post vax. I mean, that’s the whole point, right? Agree that focusing on the minute number of breakthrough transmissions/cases was a horrible angle to take. Emphasis should be on virtually 100 percent effectiveness against severe illness/hospitalization. I think this approach is changing a little bit but the damage is likely done as far as making people ask “then what’s the point?”

To the extent that anyone is still totally isolating or whatever after being fully vaccinated, they’re also a stupid pussy. You might as well isolate forever. Anecdotally, my circle is mostly the kind of young liberals the aggy on here like to make of and that’s not the case with anyone. So I’d love to see some polling on hire widespread this is among fully vaccinated people. I acknowledge it exists because you do see it discussed or pushed in the media.

being a liberal and 'totes the lefts narrative' are two different things.

i agree with your assessment and that's what i was inferring - to me he is a practical and reasoned thinker. most importantly (for me) he is not a hypocritic ('intellectually honest' as you say), which is what often puts him at odds with some on the left. he has described himself as libertarian in the past, but there's no doubt in recent years his positions have aligned more with progressives. that is still not the same as 'totes the lefts narrative'.

Police now have ability to pull over/question people/ask for address and reasons for leaving place of residence. Can be ticketed for non compliance.

Also people from Quebec and Manitoba no longer permitted in Ontario unless for essential purpose.

Agreed completely. I didn’t say totes the lefts narrative bc I don’t believe you can be intellectually honest and do that (or the rights narrative- the world doesn’t work that way), and I don’t disagree with your push back on that term. I don’t think the person who used that term likely thought it out at all.

I repped you bc I agree with just about everything you wrote on here but would push back a bit about the mask thing. We should all, when fully vaxed, stop wearing them as we are basically bulletproof. I get not wanting to get others wound up and some businesses requiring it, and I will throw a mask on too in places I know it will cause consternation not to do so,  but continuing to comply with insanity indefinitely isn’t helpful to our country. You are vaxed. You should get to Libe like normal. It should encourage others to do the same. Morons who don’t get vaxed can FAFO. We shouldn’t curtail our freedoms to those dimwits not vaxing. I’d say Memorial Day based upon how things are going should be about the end of this shit. Won’t happen that quick but it damn well better not be around well into the summer.

Sure. If a business goes well into the summer requiring masks I don’t see myself being a customer of that business, but it’s certainly their right and I will abide by that without causing a fuss. From what I can tell it’s mostly all “we strongly encourage” as opposed to you absolutely must.

Fair enough. I think that's what people should do in that situation. And by requirements I guess I mean if they have a sign encouraging me to wear it I will.

We'll see how long it drags out. I'm fully against masks forever and do not agree that it should be accepted as a new normal. It's one thing if our culture adopts wearing a mask if you're not feeling well and need to be out in public. It's completely different to wear them anytime you are around other people.
