@golfclap I noticed that main DB target for aggy from Louisiana, Joel Williams, didn't run the 40 or shuttle at the Louisiana Opening.  Doing things the Brian Williams way??

Indeed he is. He scratched his 40, his shuttle, and his weight. It did give us this gem from Damon at Ag247.

Quote

He scratched his 40. Wanted a 4.4, ran a 4.5 ... wasn't happy with it.

Can't be upset with that.

It's really, really, really hard to find someone that slow.

I don't get it--did he pull a hamstring?  Who would put a guy that slow in a 100 yard dash?  Seems like cruel and unusual punishment.  Hey kid, I know that we've been clocking your 100 yard times regularly and and although they are plenty slow, you've got heart.  I'm going to enter you and see if the field can come somehow come up lame so you can have a chance.

Lot of nations get can put a single athlete into an event in the Olympics regardless of times. These are tiny countries like Micronesia or a very unsporting country that might get a athlete or two.

Try watching heats of the womens 10k for how brutal it can be.

(Brian Perroni) Live Updates: Houston Opening Regional

KATY, Texas - The Opening regional camp has made its way to Greater Houston as much of the area's top talent is at Legacy Stadium in Katy on Sunday. Texas A&M has a trio of commitments in action in five-star wide receiver Demond Demas, four-star cornerback Jaylon Jones and four-star offensive lineman Smart Chibuzo. There are also a number of other top Aggie targets. At quarterback, Malik Hornsby will take part in his first event of the spring. Five-star Zachary Evans and four-star Seth McGowan are running backs to watch.

In addition to Demas, Troy Omeire and Devin Price are two major receivers with A&M offers while a number of offensive linemen such as Akinola Ogunbiyi, Reuben Fatheree, Donovan Jackson and Bryce Foster are in action. On the defensive line, A&M has a trio of big-time end targets in four-stars Alfred Collins, Vernon Broughton and Princely Umanmielen. Jones is joined in the secondary by the likes of Dwight McGlothern, Xavion Alford and Joshua Eaton.

GigEm247 is on hand and will have updates throughout the event. The linemen will kick off their workouts at 10 a.m. with the running backs and linebackers beginning at noon, the quarterbacks and tight ends at 1:30 and the wide receivers and defensive backs at 2:30. Camp will wrap up around 5:15 p.m.

^ Confirmed that he’s an idiot. He must be talking about Lonestar BBQ and that stuff is crap compared to the places in town.

Also, depressing to know that this dipshit probably lives close to me.

You should be depressed. And you should move out of Southeast Bryan.

Perroni has a recruiting update from the opening.  Must have been some sunshine pumping info in regards to Seth McGowen because some aggy posts are saying he'll be better than Evans and McClellan.

I don't think that a fair comparison could be made, as McGowen was participating despite being injured.

(Brian Perroni) The Opening Houston: A&M recruiting news and notes

KATY, Texas - The Opening regional camp circuit hit Greater Houston on Sunday and there was some Texas A&M recruiting news to come out of the event. Though a number of top Aggie targets did not end up making it, there were still plenty of notes.

-Five-star Aggie wide receiver pledge Demond Demas was flat out dominant once again. He just made plays look so effortless and defensive backs could not really stop him. He came in with a bit of an ankle injury but you wouldn't have known it from watching him. On the recruiting front, he again sported A&M gear the entire time. He still mentions potential visits to other schools and still hears from pretty much every program in the country. However, he continues to become more and more solid in his pledge. He talks up the Aggies to other players and he spent a lot of time with current A&M safety Leon O'Neal Jr. at the event on Sunday.

-The other A&M commit in attendance was Cibolo Steele cornerback Jaylon Jones. He has been completely solid since making his pledge and that is still the case. Like Demas, he earned an invitation to the Opening Finals.

-There are a pair of five-star running backs in the state of Texas in the 2020 class in Zachary Evans and Jase McClellan. Seth McGowan of Mesquite Poteet is not far behind those two, though. McGowan recently released a top eight but said on Sunday that he has a top three of A&M, Georgia and Oklahoma. He plans to officially visit all three and then make a decision. The Aggies are in very good shape there, though. McGowan says it does not make a difference but it can't help OU's case to have McClellan already committed. Georgia is in on a lot of backs from its own region as well. McGowan loves it every time he visits Aggieland and likes running backs coach Jay Graham. At the moment, things definitely are looking up with him.

-Manor defensive lineman Princely Umanmielen had a good day. He worked some at 5-tech and some at end. He is being recruited by different schools at different positions but says, if all else is equal, he would prefer to play strongside end in a four-man front as opposed to playing in a three-man system. He has upcoming unofficials to LSU on Mar. 22 and Oklahoma on Mar. 30. Lots of schools are trying to get him to their spring games on Apr. 13 so, instead of choosing, he is staying home that day. He says he talks to the most are A&M, Oklahoma, Texas and Vanderbilt. That would probably be his top four at the moment. He likes A&M's defense and the staff in Aggieland.

-Houston Episcopal sophomore offensive tackle Donovan Jackson was named the Offensive Line MVP. The first player in the class to be offered by A&M when he was a freshman, Jackson was close to Jim Turner. However, he has already spoken to Josh Henson since the latter has been in Aggieland and plans to make it up for a spring practice to meet the new coach in person. Jackson's mom is from Ohio and he grew up a fan of Ohio State so he is visiting Columbus on Apr. 13. He is also going to try and get to Michigan that weekend as well since the Wolverines just offered. It is still a long way until he makes a decision, but the Aggies are in good shape.

-Fort Bend Austin four-star wide receiver Troy Omeire recently tweeted about a decision coming soon but clarified that it will likely be before the end of the school year. He plans to use three official visits - to A&M, Texas and Notre Dame. He has never been to South Bend and wants to see it but it is still pretty much an A&M/Texas battle. Talk around the camp is that the Aggies are in good shape but he says Texas is really working on him about how they use bigger receivers well.

-Fort Bend Kempner offensive guard Akinola Ogunbiyi still plans to officially visit Oklahoma on Apr. 13 and the Sooners are in the best position at the moment. However, he has tentatively set up an unofficial visit to Georgia the weekend prior. The Bulldogs really are going to try to get him to hold off on a potential commitment to OU and that would be in A&M's best interests as well. Aki says Henson wants him to come up for a spring practice and he plans to do so to meet the new offensive line coach in person. He is also very close with 2021 defensive end Tunmise Adeleyeand the two have talked a lot about playing together.

-There is not a ton of new news on either defensive ends Vernon Broughton or Alfred Collins. Broughton seems to be highest on Texas and LSU, though, while Collins is an A&M/Texas battle. Neither has visit plans at this point.

-Four-star Shadow Creek safety Xavion Alfordshowed up in A&M gloves but he is nowhere near making a decision. His only visits at the moment are unofficials next weekend to Auburn and Alabama. However, he will be at one of the Aggies' spring practices. Alford is still very open but both A&M and Texas, along with LSU, Florida, Georgia, Alabama and a few others, are in pretty good position. He really looks up to O'Neal and that will definitely help the Aggies' case with him.

Sounds like Elko and Jimbo negative recruited our defense to Princely big time.

Yep. They’re gonna tell all our 4i/NT prospects they should be DEs in a 4-3. Nevermind Princely will easily play at 280+ and doesn’t have the speed to bend the edge (notice by Conner throwing him down on a speed rush today). Problem is, these guys play DE in HS and view it as a better spot than an inside lineman.

that pitch may lose some of its luster once recruits see Leal getting lined up inside 90% of the time.

This makes zero sense.
