The US Capitol has been Breached [News]

The chaos at the capitol yesterday and the antifa/blm riots were almost completely ineffective in changing anything significant. I strongly suspect they were BOTH at least partly orchestrated by our oligarchs, who own both major political parties and a great majority of the US "press". However, as the economy further deteriorates and real issues facing most Americans remain unaddressed, the capitol chaos and urban riots could be just a small taste of what's coming. As more and more Americans struggle to stay above the poverty line and realize that neither Big Party is proposing policies that could improve their lives, it will become harder and harder for our oligarchs and their politicians and press to hide the true nature of our political and economic systems.

Eventually, we might see far right wingers, libertarians, anarchists, socialists, anitfa, and blm people participating in the same protests and riots. That's when shit will get real.

If voting changed anything, they'd make it illegal.

I think I know who this is but I can't think of his name. Who is he?

Edmund Ruffin (January 5, 1794 – June 18, 1865) was a wealthy Virginia planter and slaveholder.[1] In the last three decades before the American Civil War, his pro-slavery writings received more attention than his agricultural work. Ruffin staunchly advocated states' rights and slavery, arguing for secession years before the Civil War, and became a political activist with the so-called Fire-Eaters. Ruffin is given credit for "firing the first shot of the war" at the Battle of Fort Sumter in April 1861 and fought as a Confederate soldier despite his advanced age. When the war ended in Southern defeat in 1865, he committed suicide rather than submit to "Yankee rule."[2]

Ok. Yeah. I've heard of him. Thanks.

They don't really care about the Capitol. Once the lawmakers were safely away, that was that. And you'll notice those men in suits with the pistols saw to it that nobody got in those chambers until they were cleared, and if you think that rabble was going to get past them without catching one or two in the face, you're sadly mistaken. Were those guys "in on it" too?

https://www.delawarepublic.org/sites/wdde/files/styles/medium/public/202101/capitol_breach_ap.jpg

It was a fiasco, not a conspiracy. What would those cops have to gain? Was the entire force told that if they just let this rabble into the Capitol Trump would be made President-for-Life and they'd all get brand new cars>

There is an extremely clear video showing a man in a suit stepping out of a doorway, shooting the woman, and then stepping back into the doorway.  Speculation is that it was Secret Service.  I lean that way, because too many uniformed cops will fire multiple times, but I’m biased because all the videos I’ve seen over he past year of LEO shootings usually involved cops who acted like you had to empty the magazine.  He stepped up, fired once, and then stepped back.  It was uncanny how “professional” it was.

So after all the demands, from members of both parties in both houses, that Trump must be removed immediately, of the grave threat to democracy, the House and Senate just punted and went home.  Seems like a lot of 'leadership' would rather just posture and demagogue than take actual action to solve urgent problems.

I think in typical Aggie form, 50 years from now...the MAGA Capitol breachers will declare this a national victory.  And post it on the wall.  Of their mom's basement.

Is there any link or information regarding the number of protestors/rioters at the Capitol?  The earlier Pro-Trump rally was described as "thousands" of Pro-Trump protestors, but nothing concrete on estimated numbers.   Looking at current pictures it doesn't seem to be 50K, but closer to a thousand.

While hoping that everyone who broke the law gets arrested and punished to the full extent of those laws, I am also a little incredulous about the news media not providing any size/scope for the protests/mob.

"500 Pro-Trump supporters break into the Capitol" (vs 10,000 or some more significant number), doesn't seem like revolution/insurrection but more like a group of mouth breathers who need to be arrested.

Well to answer my own question so I can put this in perspective for myself, per CNN today "hundreds of pro-Trump protesters pushed through barriers set up along the perimeter of the Capitol,..."

https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/06/politics/us-capitol-lockdown/index.html

So there were "thousands" of protestors (likely in 2-5K range) and  I would estimate about around to a thousand who went to the Capital steps, and then "hundreds" of moron's and shit heads who pushed into the Capitol.  There were originally reports of Pipe Bombs in the Capital, and then reported inside RNC and DNC headquarters, but per the DC police "The pipe bombs were found inside a car", so at least the moron(s) associated with that did not hurt any people....and likely used their own car so it can be traced to those involved.

While CNN does call it "The stunning display of insurrection" there were no other significant reports of weapons or armed protestors/mob members.

Regarding the "Civil War" T-shirt group, don't they know that the first rule of Civil War is that you do not talk about Civil War.  And the second rule of Civil War is that you do not print and wear T-Shirts talking about Civil War?

Granted impeachment at this late stage wouldn't have done much in and of itself, but the real benefit would have come from Article 1, Section 3 of the Constitution which would have prevented him from running again.  He has a couple of hundred million donated by idiots just sitting in a bank waiting for him to stir up trouble again.

I like that the dumbass in thinking he was so clever with his camo selection is actually more obvious in the Capitol Chamber than the person in the Grimmace-issued hoodie from McDonaldLand from 30 years ago.

Not what I saw.  I saw her climbing into a door lite, a shot being fired, and her crumbling to the ground backwards from the door.  GTFO with this conspiracy theory BS.

Politics aside, everyone should be skeptical of how the breach was handled yesterday.  Nevermind Trump or Biden or any of that, if your Capitol is that susceptible to a pre-meditated attack by people not that highly skilled and rather fat...shouldn't our national response be a little more "at-the-ready" and swift?  I've seen groups training on monkey bars for 20 years that could have taken that fixed position in half the time with a shitton more blood spilled.

I'm guessing that Capitol Police had strict, limited rules of engagement that contributed to the ease of their being overrun.  IIRC the DCNG (to the extent any were deployed in the District yesterday) were unarmed and there strictly for logistics (following the DC mayor's request last week for assistance).

Shit, there was a right wing paramilitary terrorist group training and planning bridge bombings to kidnap a governor. We literally dodged a bullet (except for one dumb traitor woman) as a nation that the rioters didn't get more violent or harm any elected officials.

But the magnetude of the event cannot be overstated. The capitol of the United States of America was breached by insurrectionists with the stated intent of disrupting the counting of EC votes. But for a few senate staffers grabbing the mahogany boxes, the EC votes would have been literally stolen by the terrorists.

Preliminary reports from just the inside cameras (which can differentiate numbers of people based on size recognition) put the number of illegal break-in folks at around 10x that 68 number.  So no, 68 is not a lot.  But it's a start.  What a cool story these folks will have to tell their grandchildren when they sign over their Social Security benefits check to them.  Out of that whole group of seditionists, there's maybe 20 worthwhile citizens in the thousands.  Just more luggage for the rest of us to carry.  Somebody promised them some moment in the sun and now we're stuck with spending millions to prosecute and jail them.

Same shit every fucking year.  I gotta use my carry to carry stupid.

The reaction from the film makers of Olympus Has Fallen while watching yesterday's news... "Instead of highly trained commandos, we will go with a Walking Dead zombie threat but instead of zombies they will be fat rednecks in cosplay."

They attempted to overthrow the government and start a civil war. they stormed and ransacked the capitol building, many with the intent of taking hostage (and potentially killing) members of congress.

and they were allowed to simply walk out of the building.

we are living in a simulation.
