Hey the replay is on if anyone wants to see Ohio st not run up the middle to go up 21-14. Sark should have called a timeout, brought his team to the sideline and got into their ass about blocking and be a head coach that believes in his team and his call. That’s why he’s a head coach and as great as sark is I think he’s more of a finesse coach and isn’t gonna demand toughness and get into anyone’s ass about getting a tough 1-2 yards for the chance at a national title. We’re gonna run shotgun or toss from the 1 then say if we block it right it’s a td. Yea no shot if we block everything right it’s a td. That’s a typical OC explanation to every play they draw up on paper.

Texas was middle to bottom of the pack in red zone percentage ALL YEAR. You’d think a coach with the resources and players that Sark has would have the humility and sense to fucking self scout and button that up by the end of the season.

But nope, keep banging your head against that wall Sark.  The second down bullshit never happens if Sark owns the shortcomings early in the year and does something about it. Piss poor Sark.

Easy on the gas. Tap the brakes for safety.

I yearn for an offense where we line up and just whip your ass with the occasional misdirection or play action. I feel like we do that shot far too often to the point that it loses meaning.

This game has demonstrated that beyond a shadow of a doubt now that Sark needs to hire an actual OC to call plays. Sark needs to focus on designing the offense and turn over the play calling duties to someone else. Last night’s disastrous play calling with the national championship on the line should be enough evidence to anyone watching he cannot do both jobs.

I have been saying that the entire season I didn't need last night for proof.

Red zone was actually good this game. I don't consider 1st and goal from the one a red zone stat...the hard part has been done already.

Short yardage killed us twice in this game.  No reason not to have converted and be talking about a win instrad of a loss. Furk.

100%. Will cdc jump in and help make this happen? If not we will get more Shotgun toss plays from the 1.

We were 1st and goal at the 1. That is literally QB sneak territory. 4 times in a row if needed. Guaranteed touchdown.

But no, we did fancy shit.

Let’s say we QB sneak twice, we get stopped twice. Are we really gonna be ok with trying it again?

Not even close. The playcall is terrible when you have a safety at the LoS just waiting to blow the RB up. We literally had no one to account for Downs, we ran the play like we were at midfield and Downs was 10 yards deep.

This is a joke right? YES. Even if you run it 4x and fail, Ohio State has the ball at their 1 and you have great chances of s safety or blocked punt

Both things can be true.  The play wasn’t executed well, primarily because OSU sniffed them out fast.  The play calls sucked.  QB in shotgun in short yardage is stupid and something too many OCs ignore.  The cure against size is vertical quickness in blocking scheme and getting to the Los.  sark went with his beloved horizontal slow developing shit. And then running that play to the short side of the field is moronic; it’s like giving the defense two extra players. Thats basic high school shit.

I thought he was concussed initially but there has been no mention of that anyone at all.

If the screen pass doesn't go for a touchdown we kick a field goal there.

And yes, the toss sweep was retarded.

I’d be okay with that more than I would the second down play call to do a toss sweep from the gun. Perhaps if we ran the sweep from under center it doesn’t look as bad but the pitch was received at around the 9 yard line. Even with Quinn I still don’t understand not calling at least 1 sneak, it would be the least expected play.

So basically you’re saying sark sucks at calling goal line plays? Sucked at it in 2023 against ou so he changed it up and ran shotgun toss and lost 7 yards. And because we all bitched about his play calling he decided to try something else that didn’t work so ho hum he gave it his all? Are you defending his shitty play calling you’re confusing me on your take?

Tip your cap? Gtfoh. It was fucking shotgun toss from the 1. There is no way you’re defending sark here.

Just look at the numbers. We are outnumbered on the play side. Either Sark or Quinn needs to see that and call timeout or audible. That play was never going to work with the defensive alignment.

He read the play because there’s no enough people to block on that side. It wasn’t some brilliant defensive play. It was offensive ineptitude.

4 to block 5 on a play stretching wide at the goalline is fucking pop Warner level stupid. We are trying to get our center all the way over to block a guy that’s inside shade on the tackle.

I had to sleep on this, so I stepped away from it as soon as the game ended... which was, of course with a little time left on the game clock. If it's been beaten to death already, I apologize. But I overheard this and I had to figure out how to share it.

Steve! Hey, Steve... it's God, Steve. I have a message for you, so listen up. Steve? Are you there? Message from God, here. Pay attention.

It's first and goal, Steve, the clock is running out. The refs have done pretty much everything they could to hand you the game. Punch it in, put up two for the conversion, and start getting ready for Notre Dame.

It's Arch Time, Steve. You're on the one yard line with four cracks at it. Put in the young guy and get ready to celebrate. Having Arch on the team is a gift from Me, and you need to start using it better. Quinn has done a marvelous, a wonderful job, getting you to this point, and he'll certainly get massive kudos, and he'll lead you against the Fighting Irish as well.

But it's Arch Time, Steve. Put him in, score the TD – pass or run, doesn't matter: you're the World's Greatest Play Caller, you call it. Have the two-pointer ready, tempo the extra point – let them call time out, doesn't matter. This is it. If you let Will kick it (or Bert, whatever), you'll be tied and into OT, and you'll have to get the 2-pointer anyway, so do it now.

Steve? Are you listening, Steve?

How about this hot take. Maybe punch it in from the fucking 1 in the biggest game of the year and earn your massive salary and why we brought you here then we wouldn’t be bitching about shit. Instead of “meh he tried”  and yall bitch no matter what.

Sark is a big boy and earns a shit Tom of money and earns a shit ton of criticism when he calls shotgun from the 1. And he shouldn’t get to blame fans that bitch because he can’t punch it in. Ryan day didn’t seem to have an issue lining up and running it up our ass from the 3 that put them up 21-14.

This is where CDC needs to step in and have an honest discussion with Sark. Sark is doing great in every aspect of the job except the one that he should be delegating anyway.

It’s not rocket science. We don’t have a in between the tackles bruiser RB like OSU has with Judkins. Baxter was that guy. So we have to rely on using our RBs strengths and trickery to score there. The only reason people are calling it shitty is because it didn’t work

This is so stupid. It didn’t work because it was poorly conceived. If you can’t see the obvious problem with giving the defense a plus 1 play side advantage on the fucking 1 yard line then you have no business in this discussion

Hell, Downs knew where the play was going before the snap and pointed to the weakside.

Shouldn't QE3 be able to check out of a bad play, too, if he knows we don't have numbers?

No fucking shit. You make 7 million a season to make shit work and when you don’t you get criticized. Are you this big of a pussy? I’m sure he can handle the criticism of not being able to punch it in. And I’m sure his reason isn’t “well in 2023 I tried that against ou but all the fans got mad so I tried a shotgun toss but that didn’t work either so get off my back I can’t score from the 1 and we tried super hard ok!!”

Yeah.  Hopefully Gibson improves and gets rid of fumble issues.  A healthy Baxter would be great.  Horns need an effective power runner for short yardage plays.

I feel like Sark doesn’t consider, what if the play doesn’t go well? Sure if you block the play it’s a touchdown, but in this case if you don’t block it, you lose 8 yards. If you run it up the middle or do a quick hitter on play action the downside is a lot less.

His justification for why he called that play is worse than the play call itself in my opinion.

His “if we blocked it better” is insane. Who was supposed to block the downhill safety. There’s literally not enough people to do it.

Even if you block it well you leave a man free to make the play on a RB moving sideways. It wasn’t an execution problem. It was a design and not recognizing defense problem

Listen, I really don’t want to think you’re this dense but you’re knocking on the door. If Downs thinks it’s a run up the middle and crashes down, then that’s a TD. He read the play. Yes it’s ok to give the other team credit. You guys are acting like nobody has ever ran a toss sweep before on the goal line. They made a great defensive play. We lost. Move on

Your argument is run the ball up the middle four times against the best D-line in CFB with RBs that aren’t power backs. Stfu you’re a moron and I’m done talking to you

From the 1 I would call qb sneak, run off tackle. Or maybe we should start expecting our coach to have plays the get into the end zone from the 1 and earn his paycheck.

So your argument is run a shotgun toss sweep with the ball being received on the 9 yard line vs said same defense? Having to go 1 yard > having to go 9 yards

Just sucks because, going into the season, I was thinking this offense is going to average 45+ points a game.  It's going to be like prime Lincoln Riley OU of a few years back.  If the defense can just be average, we're going places.  If you'd told me how good the defense was going to perform, I would have been thinking all-time great team.  Bleh.
