Assuming he doesn't leave on his own accord, Steve Sarkisian will either give up play calling duties at Texas or he'll get fired. He's not good at being HC and offensive play caller. He should at least try focusing on the HC part.

It will have to be forced. Even then, you don’t think Sark would meddle and undermine the OC in some way? I think he would

Schematically we were horrible yesterday. Our blocking assignments in pass pro were insane sometimes, pulling guys but not rolling the pocket, long drop backs from under center. Just wild to watch a coach set his team up for failure so consistently

well he should have huge concerns about our DB coach and players, as well as, his inability to stick with the run,  his receivers dropping balls everywhere and getting on the refs early and often for holding Simmons.

but hey, the playsheet is nails.

Why don’t you compare and contrast the deficiencies of each coach and give us a list? What point do you think you’re even making? It’s ok that our coach sucks because coaches aren’t perfect? Cool

We've lost 3 ball games. Two of them to teams better than us. We lost three ball games last year. All 3 to the only two teams who recruited better than us. We just aren't finding a way to beat teams that are more talented than we are. It's as simple as that. Arch is a 5 star. Well, so is Georgia's QB. Georgia is executing better than we are because they are better than we are. You guys pissed about us losing to Georgia after watching us this first part of the season blow my mind.

We also don’t play to any standard. We struggle to beat the worst teams in the SEC. We needed a small miracle to beat Mississippi St. we got blown out by a 3 win Florida team. The only reason we only have 3 losses is because of our easy SEC schedule.

The line was at -4.5 at kickoff. They thumped us 21-0 in the 4th quarter. Your mind is blown why we are pissed about that?

Yeah, it would be one thing if we were blowing out Kentucky and Mississippi State but we need Herculean efforts from both sides of the ball to escape with wins. Then we almost gave back a huge comeback to Vandy. We have no killer instinct outside of OU and as we've seen we caught them at about the best time imaginable.

Several of the talking heads have made a point of Sark's play calling as being "too cute"... and I think a lot of us agreee with that assessment.

It factors into our losses this season.

We had at least two weeks of the pre-season working on the tOSU game. And lost.

Next we had two weeks to get ready for the Florida game. And lost.

Now we had two weeks to prepare for UGa. And lost.

It seems that if he has too long to work on a game plan, Sark winds up with a playlist with an extra week full of clever cuteness. Then when the opponent kicks us in the nuts, instead of falling for the game plan and running the wrong way, we have no answer.

Maybe we need to pivot into fundamental ass-whipping mode instead of more or different cuteness.

I’m less pissed about losing to Georgia than most. It’s the way we lost. The way we have looked all season. Sark’s crackhead fucked up approach  to the entire season set us up to look like a middling Big 12 team next to Georgia last night. What was he doing the entire offseason? What is he doing in games? Why didn’t he address these oline issues? Why did we drop the spring game? Why did we go to NfL Prostyle practices with no contact and light contact that HAVE BEEN PROVEN NOT TO WORK EVERYWHERE IN COLLEGE THEY HAVE BEEN USED???? Why did he half ass CEO his approach to the offseason? Why? It’s year five. If something doesn’t light a fire under his ass for the way he approached this entire season he should find himself not wearing burnt orange.

his other concerns are likely the bloodletting that’s gonna happen to the team and his staff.

the NFL prostyle PRACTICES he employed don’t work in college, it was a stupid mofo idea. You practice like the teams you want to beat that are better than you are, they ain’t doing what we did in the offseason,

the turd we left in the punch bowl last night is on him. People can do more with less talent. He can only do it if he’s running as OC of Bama with a stacked roster. He’s been a head coach at two other places and been around winning big time programs. He completely phoned it in this year and it shows. The entire season outside a few quarters in games is unwatchable and the fucking Buck stops with Sark. Period.

we did not run the ball well last night. My uncle who is still relearning to walk after his stroke clocked more yards with his walker pacing in his living room watching his red raiders triumph yesterday. Jesus.

Here is what I see. I see a fanbase that doesn't understand the limitations of it's team. You want our linemen to run the misdirection that you saw Georgia running? Have you seen our linemen try to block in space? You want us to be as multiple as you saw Georgia was with their QB forgetting that we had to simplify the offense in order to just be competent. You want Wingo to be Jeremiah Smith but Wingo IS Wingo and does Wingo shit during the game. Baxter is Baxter not Jadan Baugh, he won't be making jump cuts in the hole and running through arm tackles. We just aren't very good offensively and our defense can't carry water forever.

Sark believes, despite all evidence indicating otherwise, that his game plan will work. He runs the same plays repeatedly.

It was the QB spin ballerina. The long bomb attempts to Worthy. The overly complicated reverses to Niblett and Wingo.

Just over and over and he can't simply scheme or create reliable plays. If reliable plays work, he goes away from them.

It's bad.

maybe these guys put the wood to Arkansas and take out aggy to change the narrative but Sark's Bama shine has basically worn off with the struggles of Manning and this Georgia ass kicking.  recruiting(portal and high school) is just going to get more difficult for a guy who does not seem locked in, IMO.

I want Flood fired and Akina to retire because someone has to pay for these abortions but more than that and it is just deck chairs.

banks continuing to play Roberson is mind numbingly stupid but we've got bigger problems than Roberson's penalties.

He cannot do both OC and HC. Playcalling was fine. But he drops the ball on being HC because he is buried in the playbook. He drops the ball on QB development in game bc he has to also coach the team and call plays. Everyone knows you cannot do both. Sark isn’t talented enough to do both. He never will be. How much evidence from other HCs trying the same thing and getting forced to eventually hire an OC and eventually getting fired do we need? You cannot do both things,

I will die on this hill. It was my primary concern about him when he was hired. He cannot do both. And it’s obvious to everyone who wants to admit it but him.

Players make plays Hobbes. Mack looked like the best coach in the country in 2005. Kirby's guys executed and ours didn't. We dropped the ball when it was thrown well and missed receivers when we needed to hit them. Of course at the end of the day it's the coach's fault, and that rings true for every team. Even the team who is top 5 every single year but keeps losing to lesser teams while beating the good ones.

Its clear as day hes distracted. He's often squatting down looking at his playsheet trying to dial up an offense. The numbers have been consistent for years now. His offense sucks. He's had 9 games against Top 5 competition. His offense has averaged 17.6 ppg. He's not the guy.

Once we fielded the offense we have we were always going to end up here. We can't sustain drives, and so our defense is exposed for way longer than a D should be. Defense is like a puzzle, and the more cracks you get at it the better chance you get at solving it. They had the ball for 35 minutes. We had 15 first downs and 2 of 12 on 3rd. As long as we keep trotting out this offense this kind of thing is going to happen. We just aren't very good.

Blaming lack of execution by players is weak. Designing, practicing, and calling plays that players can't execute is the problem. If the line can't handle that set of plays, then DON'T FUCKING CALL THOSE PLAYS.

It is coaching failure to practice those plays and not be able to see that your guys can't do it.

I have to agree. A lot of you fall victim to the same shit that ails Sark. This team isn’t as good as you hope them to be. Ultimately that still falls on Sark in some capacity but why most of you didn’t adjust your expectations after Ohio St is beyond me. But it should have been even more clear after our 3 game preseason stretch. Just gotta hope Sark can fix his shit, the staff, and the team this offseason.

This is why Sark = Jason Garrett. No matter who the players are, the scheme stays exactly the same. Doesn't adapt to the strengths of the current players. This offense isn't the same as the last 2 years under Quinn. Arch and Quinn are different styles, yet our offense is exactly the same. Hell even under Quinn, he was having him do things that weren't his strengths. Sark has one single offensive model and any incoming players will have to play in it with no adjustments being made.

I kinda did. Which is why I was blissfully high the bulk of the game. I expected more out of Sark than I should have and it’s on me. He can either be a detail oriented HC with his fingers in multiple pies and not be an OC or he can strictly be an OC. And I’ve not seen him be a HC where he ain’t the OC. And in my heart I know he won’t give that up. That leaves us in a predicament. If he doesn’t make major adjustments the offseason. I knew he couldn’t do both but I allowed the lure of his talent to deceive me this year. He has had zero answer for much of anything since Baxter went down against Ohio State and it shows imo.

agree that he isn't a great head coach. both in terms of strategy and prep for all three phases, as well as gameday management itself.

1 - Kirby values special teams, that is clear. He puts them in position to make game altering plays. I promise you that makes them play hard more often than not. Sark doesn't give a shit about special teams. He took points of the board from our struggling kicker last year and F'ed up the 4th down call. That is a excellent window into his mindset. He doesn't grasp the importance of all three phases of the game. Could be due to his OC responsibilities, sure, could just be the job is bigger than him.

2 - Kirby understands MO. he makes critical calls to capture momentum and use it. This is college football and guys liek Smart and Saban best understand this. Sark treat gameday decisions from his culture-building viewpoint. "All gas no breaks" instead of taking points. He defends this by stating as much, something to the tune of "i don't want to shake the confidence of my offense by not going for it". Or see point 1.

Someday you will need your receiving team to be ready for the onside kick. Someday you will need your kicker to win the game. Its no mistake both of these issues directly cost of us 1 victory against Georgia and greatly contributed to the loss yesterday.

Sark is not a good CEO tl;dr

Give Mack all the shit you want - over time he developed good gameday management abilities. His kickers were clutch, his special teams made game altering plays, and he (over time, I know) learned how to influence a game with all three phases. What he lacked was a winning mentality that needed legendary leadership from the QB position to overcome.

The reality is there aren't many coaches at all who are everything. Saban and Smart are the only two I can think of. Day had to get relieved of his playcalling duties or he was gonna get fired. Elko? LSU asshole can't even think of his name? Oregon's HC seems consistently on point. IU has their guy who preaches execution. Just fucking look at Indiana man. 3 years I believe and that dude has a legit top 10 team.

Coaching matters and I love Sark but he isn't a good HC.

agree that he isn't a great head coach. both in terms of strategy and prep for all three phases, as well as gameday management itself.

I've never liked him and I've always thought he has overperformed due to systemic advantages from the donor and brand base.

Take away the helmet, take away the names, and just give the stats to anyone that remotely know football, and their first suggestion for this team would be to hire a new OC.
