I lucked into free GA tickets from Little Steven to the Springsteen show in San Francisco last night and it was an epic night for my wife, daughter, and me (our son missed out because he was away on a school trip).

The show itself was incredible. It was our first Springsteen concert and I’m kicking myself for not attending one when I was younger.

During the show, Little Steven gestured for me to give him the hat I was wearing. He and Bruce took turns wearing it for nearly an entire song.

To make the night even crazier, Bruce handed my daughter his harmonica after playing it.

Reminds me of one of my favorite shirts in late high school and early college.  It said, "Texas Girl Lover."   I think it was representing somebody's dad's porn mag or something, but it was a cool shirt.  Luckily you will never find me in a hat or cap.  But without a doubt the best rock and roll hat story ever told....

What part of dallas are you in? I’m in far north dallas near the tollway and bush. The tollway with its one lane exit onto 35 through the mavericks’ parking lot is a masterclass in bonehead design.

You here?

i've also gone a little nuts recently haha...

in the coming months we're going to:

Black Pumas

Gary Clark Jr.

The Black Keys

Glass Animals

im not even seeking any of these out lol... i just keep randomly coming across mentions, look them up and i'm like 'huh...i can do that!'

my mate (who is of a different generation and race) enjoys completely different genres of music...i don't think he's thrilled about tagging along 😄

we saw Glass Animals at Moody before we moved to Denver... he does actually enjoy them i think. he was surprised Dave Bayley was a wispy little brit lol. he said, quote, "that white boy's got some rhythm" 🕺

i do think he will enjoy the others...if he doesn't it's just

spite-seinfeld.gif.cf2b8ad429e7f66321a969f70f769f8c.gif

i mean it's not like I'm dragging him to Tool 😆

Picked up Warpaint and Air tickets.

Yeah man I need to buy tickets for Air.

Close to pulling the trigger on Adam Ant but my wife may nix it since I just bought tix for Echo & The Bunnymen.  Hmmm... scheming.

You should hide your Sabbath and Slayer records from your kid.  That new song is heavy as shit. Good stuff.

Cool, glad you liked it.  They shot a video last week (some of it is at my house).  Can't wait to see it.

saw the north mississippi allstars at antone's on friday night. had been a while since i had seen a good blues show. they had the guitarist/vocalist from blind boys from alabama with them and I really enjoyed his contributions. had been years since i'd seen nmas, still quite enjoyable. had my fill after 2 hours and got out of there, looks like they played another 5 or 6 songs. the number of 20 something females at the show was quite surprising.

I had a random VIP pass at ACL years ago, watched them from stage right.  They impressed.

Enjoyed the Bright Light Social Hour/Mo Lowda show at the Scoot Inn.  I was so happy we got there early enough to grab a spot right at the rail.  Then my wife says, "hey can we upgrade to those spots on the rail?" which we did.  Admittedly we had a good view and sat next to the parents of The Mammoths but I would have preferred to have been right up front.  That and the constant yappers by the bar were a killer.  Whyyyyy are you at a show? Shut up!?

My wife is at the Madonna concert.  Apparently, Madonna doesn't allow venues to use air conditioning and she hasn't been hitting the stage until 10:30-11 every night.  Her shows have been regularly ending between 12:30-1:00AM.  It's like she doesn't know her fanbase goes to bed at 9PM.

Yeah…we’re going to tomorrow’s show. Sounds super fun.

Although now the wife and I can plan on a nice, late dinner. Then get to the show around 10:00, dressed pretty damned casually and comfortably.

My wife texted and said she came on at 10:20 and it was hot AF.

Let us know when the show ends. I'm dropping off my wife, daughter, SIL and niece at tomorrow's show and want to know when I should be back to the Moody to pick them up.

Looks like she usually ends between 12:30 and 1. Seriously.

We left around 1:15 or 1:20, and it looked like it was probably going to finish in the next 15 minutes or so.

But yeah--I'm tired this morning.

Was she any good?  She doesn't appear to be aging all that well.  The plastic surgery probably doesn't help.

I mean, I guess.

If the show had started at 8:45 and had the arena been at a comfortable temperature, I think the show would've been ok.  But when she doesn't start until 10:30 on a Sunday night and doesn't want the a/c turned on, it's kind of easy to be put into a foul mood off the bat.

Probably half the songs she played were some serious B-side shit.  I mean, I know all of Madonna's hits.  And she has a lot.  I'm from the 80s, goddamnit.  But I didn't know a lot of the stuff she played (and judging from the crowd reactions, I wasn't alone).  And then she had two 15- or 20-minute little soliloquies, where she was trying to be deep and thought-providing, but was just vapid and trite and dull.  I mean, that's a lot of content to have to slog through to get her to sing the songs you showed up to hear her sing.

When she does sing those songs, it's pretty entertaining.  She's not much of a dancer anymore, but her backup dancers are entertaining.  And the whole staging is often pretty cool.  But on the whole, . . . meh.

Bruce is in my area tonight but had to sell my tix after the first postponement due to getting laid off(2023) and then the show tonight not in the cards due to work schedule.

Joe Jackson will be in my area end of May, anyone seen him recently?  Not a huge fan but enjoy most of his work but tix are close to a $100 bucks and I know wife won’t go.

she's trying to be Taylor Swift....

wife went and came home at 2PM and said well I guess I can knock seeing Madonna off the list.  that was apparently the highlight while you have 50 year old women in stifling heat.

My wife thought it was meh. A lot of her older stuff was slowed down or dropped a key so she could sing it. She said Madonna looked like a toddler struggling to walk in mom’s high heels. Just own it. You’re almost 70. Put on those Sketchers. My wife left at 1:10 but didn’t know if there was an encore after that.

Ohhhhh man... who is up for this one?

Front 242

Nitzer Ebb

Robotiko Rejekto

Microchip League

https://www.seetickets.us/event/RHYTHM-FEST-2024/588627#

That's awesome.  I saw Nitzer Ebb open for Depeche Mode in Dallas back in the day...probably the oddest bill I've seen.  Only about 30% of us stayed for both Nitzer Ebb and DM.

Front 242 was 100% the loudest show I've ever been too.

Record release party at Empire Control Room Thursday.  Look for the internet dad.

That's cool.  What's the name of your daughter's band?  Are they on Spotify?  What instrument does she play?

Die Spitz.  Primarily drums, but rhythm guitar + vocals on a few songs she writes.  Their music is everywhere, easy to find.
