How do we take advantage of this? Is there an equivalent of credit default swaps that I can purchase on North Shore recruits?

There's not really a "way" to take advantage outside of the initial USC NIL yeah. People are throwing out, in most cases, ridiculous numbers based on false assumptions from the settlement. Texas is not, thats why it feels like we've missed on so many key recruits.

Right now it's just a waiting game as Texas is playing with "real money," as in legitimate sources and avenues to their NIL while others are not. So while our recruiting summer has been relatively uneventful when considering the lead up. The goal is to instead have it also be a relatively uneventful transfer portal with guys looking to leave because their NIL deals can't be fulfilled.

And this was from the Ohio State board (think someone posted this upthread ... )

Feels like OSU might be in a similar situation as us with the 2026 class

Interestingly, it looks like the House settlement might be back in court soon.

Would you rather pay $500K for some 50-50% high school guy that might contribute in 2 years or a known commodity like a Trey Moore with proven production?

You do realize that you just answered your own question…..right?

Can someone explain how LSU continues to find this money when we have heard for years that they’re broke?

They just approved a new tax on sports betting to fund NIL

What are those three football trophies on the left in the second picture? They kind of look like DKR's national title trophies

Are they Big XII championship trophies? Our final one is on the same table.

The older Big 12 title trophies were crystal. There'll all lined up on a single big wall at the Texas Athletics HoF.

The three football trophies look a bit like the old UPI trophies they gave out to the coaches' poll national champions back in the day, but they look way too new to be from the 1960s and they're silver-coloured instead of gold-coloured.

They’re the SWC trophies that are converted into national title trophies for those DKR teams that won the conference and title. Tons of schools are paying to have fake national title trophies made for retroactive titles and almost all of them are using the crystal ball coaches poll trophy.

I'm confused.

I thought we were all supposed to have slit our wrists by now and left a note bowing to our new, shitty Big 12 school overlords.

We are being out recruited by Baylor and Tech!!!!!

I think Tyler Atkinson is in play because Ant Hill departing for NFL will free up some NIL allocation at LB.

Justus Terry was a pipe dream this time last year.

I do think this shows that we are willing to spend when we have an absolute need and the likelihood of early college success is high. For RB maybe we will wait to see what we have and for OL, the cost wasn’t worth the risk for our tackle option.

OL could have played out different if Ojo didn't play us. It sounds like Lee wasn't an auction but he couldn't have been cheap. We also probably would have anted up for Roseborough or Krempin without Ojo telling us he was in.

It's interesting that Gerry reports that Texas will stay on Lee, but not Krempin (ain't easy) or Roseborough, throughout the remainder of the recruiting cycle. IIRC, Texas coaching staff viewed all three as potential OTs.

It's because of our sense of justice.  We want to crush all these assholes and mete out reciprocal punishment for the past 15 years of embarrassing football.  The fact is that our roster has never been stacked with more talent than it is currently.  Year over year it has gotten more difficult for Sark to trim the fat because he has so much talented depth.  We will keep the players we want to keep.  That much is certain.  That fat fuck DT we lost to LSU still can't lockdown at starting role and their defense was atrocious last year.  I am also certain that we will continue to use the transfer portal to add key pieces and address any roster holes.  The situation at DT should have been dire this year, but it looks like it will move forward with little to no drop-off.  Thirteen Win Steven is causing our enemies to clutch their pearls.  All you have to do is listen to the mouth breathers that call into the Finebaum show.

1. But Sydir is going to be developed by the GOAT Bo Davis.......Wait, Davis isn't there anymore???.............Nevermind!

2. I only listen to the Finebaum show when my ears need a good bleeding.
