On the chance that you're new here, just a heads up, but the poster you quoted is a complete fucking imbecile. Name all of the great college players from NS in that decade that played elsewhere

Chaisson might be the closest one, but Jaeden Roberts is pretty good too

This is funny. When I google Denver Harris:

Three different teams in the first three results. Impressive.

There's a Chace Calicut article on Horns 247.  I'll just post a couple of quotes, and then some interesting comments from Jordan Scruggs.

Btw, didn't realize that Davon Benjamin was quite this highly rated, or that we seem to fancy our chances w/ him.

Maybe they didn’t turn into college stars but they have had numerous top 100 recruits that our coaching staffs over the years wanted and it just didn’t come to fruition.

Didn't Arch just completely obliterate him in that foot race to the end zone?

OnTexasFootball has been informed that Texas A&M is out of contention for 5-star OT John Turntine III

Texas vs. Michigan is where we hear the most noise right now. There is confidence in Austin ahead of July 4th announcement. Michigan does think they are in it.

Stanford is the third team on the list.

I lurked the board for a long time, but this is the only handle.  I guess there wasn't sufficient focus on my end to figure out who was who from a posting perspective.  That said, thanks for the heads up and apologies to the board for shitting on it.  Fool me once... 😂

Suck-up.

Has he jumped in a pool with Lanning yet? Because if he does, I like our chances.

The comments from the Florida fan were made in the context of the potential Texas defensive line class.

In no way could anyone watch the two games Texas played against Georgia last year and realistically think, "Man, the Texas defensive line is getting rofl stomped." They had the drive coming out of halftime in the SEC championship game where the defense didn't adjust to Stockton as the starting quarterback.

That was one of only 2 decent drives that ended in a touchdown in regulation in the two games. Even when they moved the ball they couldn't get it across the goal line.

Their touchdown drives:

1st game

4 plays, 13 yards

3 plays, 34 yards

11 plays 89 yards

2nd game

10 plays, 75 yards

This is just the standard SEC tripe "Florida style" using Georgia to carry their water.

The Texas OL absolutely got dominated in the first half in Austin. The running game never did get going to any extent in either game, but Texas wasn't fielding an elite running back, either. No offense to Wisner. I'm grateful we had him. But it's like complaining about the lack of a running game against elite defenses when we're sporting Hodges Mitchell or Fozzy Whitaker back there. But outside of that first half, pass protection wasn't that bad. Ewers made some bad decisions, but that's not on the OL. But the thread isn't even about OL recruiting, so it's stretching to make a point to even bring it up in the first place.

There was a lot more of Texas shooting themselves in the foot on numerous occasions on offense and special teams way more than there was some kind of mismatch in the trenches.

This is a false narrative from a bitter Florida fan angry about the way recruiting is going against Texas and you picking up that narrative and parroting it, as if there's some truth to it.

They’re repeating the national media narrative including what the sec media is parroting about Texas vs Georgia. They’re lazy takes. The sec championship was ours if we make our field goals but that wouldn’t get clicks. Texas hate is more profitable. Ask Carson beck if they were dominating us.

The Texags take of "he's to small for SEC ball" have already started.  Like clockwork.

Pertaining to the RB musical chairs, the Miami 247 mods are now telling their base that Lamar is trending Georgia's way. They're now doubling down that Cooper is theirs. That leaves Crowell to Bama or Texas, if so. Bama is the big favorite in that one. Maybe Sarkisian decides he needs one of these backs and gets more aggressive. Maybe he waits for the season to watch ATM go 6-7 and picks up Edwards when he circles back.

Nahlin with a not great DB update

Like always, with decision season comes twists and turns. Currently, defensive back recruiting is seeing the most shifts. After talking to as many people as we can possibly think of, here’s the latest we’re hearing.

It’s not great.

DB Chace Calicut: Georgia does lead at this point. Bulldogs are pitching cornerback while Texas is pitching safety with the ability to move around. There might be another smart angle Georgia is playing as well with a person of influence.

Calicut announces June 27 so the clock is ticking.

CB Samari Matthews: Our South Carolina site has growing optimism on the North Carolina cornerback. When Wiltfong and Simmons put in RPM’s for Texas I texted the group “I wanted to do the same but hadn’t heard anything new from his SCar visit.” I’m not liking what I’m hearing of late. That visit shook things up for sure.

Matthews announces July 11. There is time but Shane Beamer, yes Shane Beamer, has reversed momentum. I wouldn’t put in a pick for South Carolina yet but I’m nowhere close to doing it for Texas.

CB Davon Benjamin: Each miss Oregon has make them more focused on not losing Benjamin and they’ve had quite a few misses. I think Texas has recruited him better since the spring and he feels like it’s a great place to be developed but Oregon is being aggressive.

Benjamin has no known decision date. This is a two team race between Texas and Oregon.

We had years and years to get to learn how Terry Jospeh operates. Jospeh’s approach was patient, methodical, and unflinching. If he lost a recruit he just worked even harder to ultimately sign him. He never panicked to take low hanging fruit. More often than not, that approach worked out.

Hopefully Mark Orphey can regain momentum in these recruitments, but if not, as Joseph routinely demonstrated, it ain’t over til it’s over.

In the same hour that Bobby said he’s hearing Calicut is trending to Georgia, Ketch said he expects him to be Texas’ next commitment. 😂

I think it's interesting Gerry keeps saying we are quietly in a good spot for Damari Simeon with his announcement on Friday and pretty much every other 9.95 site is barely mentioning him.

I’m actually surprised Georgia has continued to recruit at such an elite level. While they obviously have a ton going right for them, before Smart and his extensive cheating, they recruited good but not super elite. I figured NIL would water them down at least a bit, even if they do have a lot of NIL money, because of the narrowed advantage they have today vs a few years ago. I guess it’s just the momentum.  Or maybe Smart is really that great of a recruiter and manager.

A South Carolina mod on On3 put one in for them for Matthews, but a mod for them on Rivals put in a Texas pick so who knows.

Someone should ask his agent 5 minutes before he commits. I bet that person knows.

I’ve never seen a little guy take so many big hits in my life. It would be nice if he juked someone every once in awhile vs. you no going head first into a defensive lineman.

Personally I love the hate.

It's just ridiculous for an alleged Texas fan to give it credence.

Even the first game wasn't as one sided as it appeared. We came out and got our teeth knocked in for the first half. Just didn't appear ready for the moment, frankly. But even then the defense played really well. In the second half if the special teams doesn't give up the most obvious fake punt in the history of college football - given the circumstances and the fact the starting punter (who was ridiculous) got injured - who knows what happens in a one score game with Texas having all the momentum. Plus water bottles, our secret weapon to reverse bad officiating calls.

Kids and parents really like Kirby Smart.  They love Travaris Robinson.  I'm not sure exactly why on Smart, but even as he's gotten it to a place that recruits itself, people like the guy.  Good thing is that families really connect with Sarkisian also.

The Georgia talk makes me ask a question that's plagued me the entirety of 2025 - how the fuck did Gunner Stockton hold on to that ball while sleeping soundly?

No, the first half was bad.

The second half we gave it over on downs a couple of times because of the bad hole the first half put us in, down 23-0.

It was a very bad first half. No question. And it counts. I'm not trying to make some kind of rationalization for the result. What I am saying is that extrapolating that the Texas lines were manhandled by Georgia in both games is completely false. The OL was manhandled by Georgia in the first half in Austin.

It was, but he is correct.  We had it within 1 score after 3 quarters.  But, that just gives credence to your other favorite position regarding Ewers's level of play.

That's what Mack Brown preached. Try to juke too much, especially at the line of scrimmage, and you sat on the bench. He hated to see running backs constantly break it outside, too. Not to mention Hodges Mitchell didn't exactly have elite speed. That guy could never break a big run because he wasn't fast enough. His toughness was one of his strongest attributes.
