Texas Rangers 2023 - They're Still Shitty?

GWB was probably touching 70 on his 9/11 strike.  20 years older now, but he'll get it to the plate.

He’s 77 now.   So 55 during the 9/11 aftermath.

Man, how I wish my dad could have been here to see this. Biggest Rangers fan ever. I was on the phone with him in 2011 when we needed one more strike. I’ve never heard such a crushed, disappointed rea

Ahhhhh.

I'm mostly with you on most of those.

But Nathan Arizona, formerly Nathan Huffhines, kicks some butt. Better than that dipshit Mattress Mack.

Unpainted Arizona has some of the finest selection in fixtures and appointments for your bathroom, bedroom and boudoir.

LOL no. I just rewatched it. 55-60 at best but he did drop that motherfucker in for a strike.

Looked like the kind of pitch a position player would throw because they don’t have gas and just want to mess with timing.

If we're exhibiting Things In Arizona That Suck, this has to be #1.

Also how is it possible there isn't an Arizona professional sports team, or semi-pro team in my brief research, named the Arizona Scorpions?

Supposedly that was the first choice of the mascot name but Diamondbacks made more sense as it's more of a baseball centric name (diamond)

Because they're German, duh.

Solid point.

Being from San Antonio, I should have known that. I believe they had a residency at the SA Convention Center.

I feel like a better first pitch setup should be:

Pitcher - Nolan

Batter - GWB

Catcher - Pudge

For a unique recreation of this

To pass the days I have been trying to think of who I wish was on this team if we were to win it all. Out of the active players I would take Gallo cause he was the one of the first prospects I followed day in and out from draft to debut. He has taken some shit and deservedly so but he has never shied away form being a homer or bust player. Also think he would still add value to this lineup in the Garver/Grossman role. Yu Darvish would be my 2nd choice.

For retired players my choice would be Michael Young. He was here before the WS runs and made watching bad Rangers baseball fun for 10 year old me. Beltre is a close 2nd but he is gonna get a plaque in Cooperstown with a Rangers T so that is a solid consolation prize.

Retired is hard to pick but all the favorites from when I started following in the early 90s

Sierra

Franco - who for all we know may still count in the active player category

Nolan

Gonzalez

Rodriguez - yeah he won one but it should have been with the Rangers

Current player is easy: Cruz, since I don't think he's officially retired yet.

Waiting for someone to pick Rusty Greer...

People that I liked a lot as a kid: Raffy, Gonzalez.  Other gods: Nolan, Pudge.  Soft spots exceeding their ability were a lot of random pitchers -- Ogando, the brief time with the Mexecutioner Soria.

My dad got me inky’s autograph at a rotary club meeting and I about shat.

Dude do you know who Adrian Beltre was?
Your quip about him barely spending time here made me question my own memory.
I remember listening to that 3000th hit on the radio. That was very cool. He was a bright spot between pennants.

Yep I was at that 3000th hit game. Awesome experience in person. That was the beginning of our decline after having good teams for the first half of the decade. Until now.

That game was the day after my bachelor party. About 10 the next morning, I was literally laying on the floor in the bathroom with gatorade, which was where my "friends" left me the night before. My now wife call:

her "Did you see."

me:" Honey, I don't even remember where I was last night."

her " He didn't get it, take a shower, get dressed. I got tickets."

I married wisely.

(Also, it was like 120 degrees outside and I was super hung over. Not ideal)

I want to see the first pitch then see Pudge snap throw down to 1B.

Odd take? - my kid mentioned wishing Choo was here for this.

Not really shocking on the closed roof. Shit is supposed to hit the fan again around 7:30-8. Likely closed tomorrow too.

Win it for Frank catalanatto.
or Jack Daugherty.

maybe for Kevin reimer.

I can see that. He was fun to watch.

looking at choo, it looks like he had to do a one-year get-right contract like beltre did with boston before his big free agency contract.  pretty surprising, his numbers were still good at cleveland.  ended up being the right bet, of course, with all the money he got from us, but still surprising he wasn't able to turn his CLE days into a bigger payday. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/choosh01.shtml

carter still batting 3rd.  lot of speculation he'd be moved down because houston's lack of lefties in the pen is what moved him up.

Two lefties back to back caught my eye as well, but I guess he prefers carter having better protection than heim behind him and/or trusts garver more without it.

Geno Petralli is a bitch, by the way.

He signed my catchers mitt when I was 11

Former Cs, unite.

Had an instructional book from Lance Parrish, passed that on to a buddy’s kid a few years ago. We must protect the position.

Why is Seager's name underlined?  Is he the one who's going to bash the ball around tonight?

Also yes. I think Seager goes off this series.

We're not able to get to a game, which sucks.

It's less nerve-wracking when you're there. More random stimuli and other shit of interest than just being laser-focused on each pitch.

Who is are the game? At a bar? Or watching from home?

I'm on the couch with a fresh bottle of what I bought for the last two ALCS games. And some fucking nachos.

At home tonight. Might tailgate tomorrow at the stadium but not sure if I feel like the trip to Arlington from Far North Dallas with all their construction.

They've closed that bar I met you at some years back. My uncle and many of those regulars now to go Cafe Gecko. Didn't know if you still go out that way.

Still here in Allen. been to Cafe Gecko a handful of times. Mostly go to Two Rows now.
