I really like the walk up and scan beer process but why would you put stickers on the cooler so you don’t know what is in the cooler until you are in line and have to open the cooler.

If there isn’t a beer I want inside the cooler I’d rather not wait to find out.

Cool perspective and pretty well done by that guy.

Scattershots:

- its a key 3rd down for our defense and clemson is driving. What do we play? “Since youve been gone.” Holy shit everyone in our section was either laughing their ass off or pissed

- mariachi was awesome the first time with Selena, but did not needed to be replayed while clemson was driving

- for fucks SAKE, we dont celebrate first downs. Only bush league teams do that pathetic shit. Stop with the “first down, TEXAS!” shit

- I.Do.Not.Get. Not having enough ticket scanners/personnel/bag checkers for just one fucking hour before kick to get people through the gates.

- need to show more celebrities/former ut players on the jumbotron instead of the ball-hiding-in-what-helmet or air guitar cam or whatever the fuck

AND

TWICE in the 4th quarter we played “all my exes live in texas” and some other slow fucking country song. Holy shit it was embarrassing. Clemson fans in my section were chuckling… especially when violin solo guy came on. Play fucking rock or edm or hip hop. Its not that fucking hard

DONT CARE WHAT YOU THINK OF THE ARTIST... NEED TO PLAY "STRANGLEHOLD"!!!

I’ve been to every home game this year. I have been going to home games for over forty years, and the occasional road game. Texas, in my opinion, has a sneaky home advantage. This is not the fanbase that is hostile to visitors, but it is a fanbase that is engaged and knows the cheers. I have seen eras when “Texas-Fight” was weaponized, and then periods (like now) when just regular noise is emphasized.

Walking to the stadium, I was a little worried. There just was not as much pre game attendance outside, not as much energy. Many fewer tailgates, many fewer people milling around. Was this a different fanbase segment showing up?

And then, the game. This was one of the more actively engaged crowds I’ve seen. It got really loud (Look, we’re not Aggies, we don’t claim noise makes a huge difference. To me, the best you get from noise is annoying the opposing offense and encouraging your defense, for what it’s worth- which is probably about half a point on average).

I have never seen as many stay for “The Eyes of Texas” before.

It was definitely full of people that really wanted to be there. Everyone in my section were high fiving, hugging, screaming their assess off. Only sat for time outs and TV breaks.

Most importantly I never felt that collective dread going into the second half which I've felt countless times for so many years.

The positive emotion was as thick as the mosquitoes in Houston.

Yeah, the pregame atmosphere outside was so different. Calm. Relaxed. Very few people tailgating. Not so crowded. But I think most people got to their seats earlier than normal.

Around me, I thought we were quieter on defense in the first Q than we should have been, but the crowd heated up and got loud.

Business trip. Workmanlike. I was glad I went. It does feel like we’re building something special.

Can't find a 2025 game day thread, so bumping 2024.

Any thoughts, complaints, compliments for the SJSU game?  A bit weird because of the 11:00 a.m. start and the unusual weather - which also made tailgating sub-optimal.  It seemed like there was a bit less of the extraneous commercial crap, and the Jumbotron sound was almost at levels fit for humans.  Liked the addition of Django Walker's "Texas Longhorn" song during the game rather than after it, when the crowd is filing out. Flyover was very cool.  Overall, I thought the atmosphere was great for a early season morning game against a weaker opponent.

Question for the seasoned vets:  Is there a place inside DKR that sells craft beer, Shiner, Yeungling, Ziegenbach, etc.?  I could only find places with the normal boring assortment, including several light beer options.

I couldn’t have a conversation with my daughter sitting next to me without yelling. The volume remains an abomination, an unyielding, unrelenting, constant assault on the senses. Also the rotating pictures of our players on the video board is just stupid. If a guy makes a play and you want to show his pic/bio, sure that makes sense. But I don’t get the rotating slide show. A complete waste of space

I think I’m done with the home games, which absolutely sucks now that I have a kid at UT. I’ll see you in Dallas but otherwise?

Higher volume there requires fans to talk louder and generally be louder. It’s something done on purpose. Would you rather them show rotating pictures of players or ads non stop?

The beer truck with all the taps just north of the alumni center (outside the stadium, obviously) is the only place I know.

It sounds noticeably less loud on TV because in the past you could hear all the noisy shit coming through on the broadcast. But all of the empty grey seats still look terrible and I wish we would have just closed the bowl the way we did on the other side.

They need to sell field level club and those seats separately. They shouldn’t be tied together if they’re going to remain empty.

CDC responded on Twitter about how people with those tix have rightly paid for access to both. I agree it is terrible optics and wish they would find a solution.

Probably because the sum of the parts would be significantly less than the whole.

How? You’d be charging same price to those who like to be down in the club which is pretty much the entire section then you’d add the new ticket holders on top of that for the seats up top? It’s a similar stadium setup to what Raiders have in their end zone.

I doubt that either the seat ticket, or club access alone, without being attached to the other, is worth more than half of what the donation level is for both together. At least in the eyes of this category of donor

I'll line up all the ignorance in one post.

First, to those fucking idiots bitching about empty seats, is your position that we shouldn't have built the entire south endzone project because we wouldn't be able to force season ticket holders to show up to make the stadium look full for shitty opponents in shitty weather? We should have just scrapped the entire thing, because in retrospect the optics look "terrible?"

I'm guessing most of you haven't had a tour of the SEZ complex, your knowledge probably is limited to what you've seen briefly on social media posts. It's a sprawling complex, with the weight and performance center, the new locker rooms, new meeting rooms for the team and position groups, nutrition area, player lounge and recreation area, as well as the medical training center as well as recovery facilities, which include water rehab, sleep pods, etc. It's pretty fucking impressive, and my brief description in no way does it any justice. Anyway, my point is, that this entire facility, which is a boon to recruiting and the football arms race, was paid for entirely by the donors you're bitching at for not showing up in those gray seats! So because you're worried about the "optics" of empty gray seats, we probably should have done...I dunno...none of that for the team.

Good idea, that South Endzone is so embarrassing!

I believe the SEZ project cost 125 million dollars, and was built with bonds using the fundraising and guarantees for the people who promised to buy those seats. Somewhat akin to a seat license, all of those people either cut huge checks, or made legally binding financial promises, to pay six figures or more (the suites were 10 million a pop, I think the gray seats were 100k, I could be mistaken) and they cut those checks JUST FOR THE RIGHT to be able to ALSO pay thousands of dollars each year to buy the same season tickets. That's right, it's not just a one time expense, it's a one time expense so they can keep spending thousands of dollars every season to buy those tickets.

And you know what part of the sales pitch was? Hey, we're going to throw in access to a club where you can have A/C, be covered if it rains, and cater some food for y'all...and still let you buy extremely overpriced drinks. Now imagine that I'd paid all of the above, and the AD comes back and says "Hey, that thing you bought, we're going to take away those tickets and just let you have this little club." That's y'all's idea. My response, personally, would be to tell you to go fuck yourself. And if you told me I had to go back up in inclement weather just because some whiny internet shitbirds who've contributed, maybe, 1 part of 1 million to what I had contributed to the athletic department, because THEY didn't like the TV optics, well, I'd laugh in their face and then tell them to go fuck themselves.  And then I'd probably pull my NIL money. Because, you know, these are some of the same people that are supporting our NIL budget. Best to alienate them.

And my favorite part is, no one gives a fuck if some season ticket holder anywhere else in the stadium doesn't show up in shitty weather, or at all, because those seats don't get a lot of coverage on TV. But because it's the SEZ, THOSE people should be SO embarrassed. Fuck right off. If you don't like it, step up and spend the fucking money to support the athletic department the way those people have, and stop being fucking poor.

But you don't get one without the other. "Hey guy, you may like the club, and maybe you spend most of the time there, but I gotta tell you, now that it's Ohio State at home sorry you can't sit in your seats and watch the game."

Also, the clubs down there aren't that fucking big. My money is that most of those season ticket holders aren't at the game at all.

They’re not sitting in those seats anyway so it’s obvious the ones that are there that the value is down stairs in the club, not their seats regardless of opponent. Especially when it’s too hot or too cold. So the people paying that are there and do show up should choose and if you aren’t showing up and selling those tickets on 3rd party sites then you should be replaced by people who do want to pay that amount AND show up given that there is so much demand for season tickets and sell out of said season tickets.

Don't even try to sit and lecture someone about "where the value is" in a certain section, to people who have written huge checks for the actual privilege of having those seats. It's not One or The Other. It's the privilege, that you paid for, of being able to do both, when you want, how you want. You have no concept of how many of those seats above the gray ones are also empty, or sparsely populated, because it's harder to see. Trust me, they're empty and sparsely populated a lot of the time. You're making up conclusions to support your shitty line of thinking and confirmation bias.

The value, is supporting your university, and having the money to do whatever the fuck you want without being told. That includes "It's raining and I don't want to get wet I'm going inside" to "It's hot, I'm going to stay in the A/C" or "I'm not going to the game, the opponent sucks." The people that show up may be more interested in the game. But I've got news for you, people like us are outliers. The richer MOST fans are, the more it's a social event. They're not diehards. The section next to us, we saw the guy who bought it on opening day, and that section has had people in a grand total of THREE times in the 5 years we've had tickets. Opening day year 1, seats he sold to some GA people and oddly last weekend. These are people that don't NEED to sell seats on 3rd party websites. They don't care. Those are also the people you count on to fund your Athletic Department to do the shit you want to fucking do, because Burnt Orange & White is showing up with a 200k check and an offer to buy out some gray seats who's behavior he doesn't like.

Also, you're advocating a car dealership repossessing your car because they don't like the way you drive it. A car you paid for in CASH.

Do you just think there's that many Texas fans out there that want to cut massive checks for the RIGHT to spend tons on season tickets each year to be told what to fucking do? Do you even realize how fucking stupid you sound?

I’d say there is tons of demand there as evident by them gutting the media area, relocating it, and putting in more suites for even more expensive seating. The stadium is completely sold out and we are at record season ticket sales so yeah the evidence tends to point that wait list and demand is more than there
