I'd agree that Georgia is too low.  Seems like the committee isn't putting much weight on "quality of loss" and I think that should matter.  I'd probably have Georgia one spot ahead of Bama and both those 2 in front of Old Miss and Tenn.  Georgia has more quality wins and their losses are also better.  And Notre Dame (and arguably Miami) should be behind all of them.  Georgia hasn't looked great in several of their wins, so I guess it's back to eye test being a big factor.

I have lit a candle for little baby Jesus and built a shrine to the weather gods in my prayers we get ND and/or Miami in the playoffs.

In my perfect world, we get them both then face Oregon and avoid IU.

Edir Actually my perfect world that won't happen, but I think would be the easiest path to a title

After beating Kentucky and aggie beat Bama in SEC champ game.

Miami yes please!

ND

CU

Got datum that'd be a tasty run that I'd be confident in winning.

Add an Ole Miss loss to Florida, a tenner loss to Vandy , an aggy and Bama loss to auburn and suddenly were going to magically have a lot of ranked wins

I mean.... I won't say any of those are likely but none are impossible and a couple would not surprise me. Edit.... Auburn ain't beatin Bama that I can see.. but otherwise

It's very weird to me that most of the sportswriters would seemingly have a much better opinion of our team if we beat Georgia but lost to, like, Mississippi State.

This. If you say Texas is in what the hell else is there to talk about, no one gives a shit about any team other than Texas, with the added bonus that we might be fucking up the whole SEC is such a gotdam hard meatgrinder bullshit that has been spouted for YEARS.

we show up and all of sudden Georgia is getting ass blasted by Ole Miss, barely beating middling or worse Kentucky and Bama gets beat by the entire state of Tennessee.

That All State Playoffs projector thing has us at a 75% chance to make the playoffs if we beat Kentucky but lose to A&M. Seems high.

We're Texas. It's a more appealing brand that promises higher ratings than most other options.

God damn I hope Georgia loses to GT , their fans are insufferable

That wouldn't matter to the morons who are arguing against Texas right now. Losses to unranked teams don't count, just wins over ranked teams.

We are 17 years since the absolutely chaotic mess that was November 2007.

Never forget that it's basically all one big TV show now with all the money involved.

Shit like this is why I keep saying absent some upsets resulting in 5 SEC teams making it (and even then not a done deal), i don't really see how Texas gets in losing @ Aggy.  It's really pretty simple.  Michigan and OU both having their worst teams in years fucked the resume this year.   Just gotta win.

Because none of the people saying Texas shouldn't be in after a loss to aggy have fuck all to do with who makes the CFP.

Sorry, yes, I agree. Win and in =  next 2 games.

You have to look at the CFP rankings and not just feel your way through this.  Assume we beat UK.  (The whole argument is for all intents and purposes moot if we don't.)  We're likely at #3.  Assume all four P4 champs remain in the top 12.  Assume we lose to A&M.  Boise (or whoever) will take one remaining spot, meaning we need to drop no lower than #11.  Do you really think the CFP committee would drop us from #3 to #12 or lower after one loss?  I don't see it.

There are exactly three brands that the committee will put in the CFP if they can swing it: Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Texas.

They just dropped BYU 8 spots after a loss to KU.  Not saying it's the same, but still.....

That means a loss to Kentucky and a win at aggy would be better for Texas.

Wat?

KU was 3-6 at the time and in the bottom part of the Big 12

Texas would be losing to a top 15 team who co-leads the SEC. Bit different

Texas isn't BYU , A&M isn't Kansas . 8 is still less than the 9 we have room for.

I personally think we're fine as long as we win Kentucky, also won't be super pissed if we lose out 10-2 depending on what happens with the other top 12 .

I still think there is a fair chance a bunch of these 10-2 drip 1 more under the pressure

Huh? Dinich is just as cute as Nicole. I mean they're both kind of office/mom-next-door hot but still.

It's definitely not the same.  A&M is #15, and might be higher if they beat 'barn.

8 is probably the margin.  That is, unless Boise (or whoever, I'm not paying attention) is not only the 5th highest ranked conference champ but is ALSO ranked in the top 12, not stealing a spot.

I, for one, am super happy that all the talking heads are diminishing Texas.

We all saw what happened when everybody was sucking our dick.

Keep suffocating everyone else on the schedule and it'll all work out.

OK, the committee dropped Georgia 9 spots after losing to #16 Ole Miss.  Little more the same, no?

I don't have to do shit.

It'll play out.

What i know is win and in. The rest is just so much mind game stuff.

I don't mean to be dismissive but I've zero control over whatever the fuck happens. All I do know is win the next 2 and we're in. The rest of the possibilities will be what they are and I'm not interested in hashing it out for days. Shit will come out in the wash. Beat Kentucky and Aggie and we're in the SEC Champ game. Win that and we're in the CFP don't shit happens.

The rest.. it'll be sorted out in the wash.

I know these debates and hand wringing are the cornerstone of college football history.

I just stopped giving a shit.

That's a really impressive monologue, but the rest of us are having a discussion about less than optimal results.  You might want to sit this out.

Russillo got pretty spicy yesterday. Did y'all realize Indiana has played 0 games against the top 7 in the B10?

Can't say I disagree with much he had to say.

I can't imagine anyone with a functioning fucking brain thinking that Indiana, Notre Dame and Penn State are all better than BOTH Bama and Georgia. (fixed)

We need divisions or pods or something in the P4. Especially if this is how lazy the committee is going to be with W/L records.

This is so fucking stupid and is exactly the nonsense that I was talking about upthread when I said that for some people the lack of a clear cut top tier in the sec equate to everyone being awesome. @TrashMaster G

This equates to nothing more than “I think uga and bama are awesome so their losses don’t mean anything.” And not only does uga losing twice not mean anything, but ole miss and tenn must also be awesome since they beat uga and bama. And we’re again supposed to just ignore losses to Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Arkansas. He went so far as to call out LSU as a good win. LSU fucking sucks. Southern cal beat LSU week 1 and absolutely no one will try to claim them as a quality win for psu or nd.

Do I think Indiana would be favored against bama? No, but they’ve smoked everyone they’ve played, didnt play Mercer in November, and they also didn’t lose two games including fucking Vanderbilt.

The bad losses have to mean something but to the sec slobbers it either gets flat out ignored or “actually Vanderbilt, arky, and uk are all really good teams despite what their records say.”

I have for the most part.

God forbid I provide a bit of level headed sanity to this super productive and super logical pointless teeth grinding. Please, don't let me interrupt. Continue. I'm sure you'll discover the cure for cancer and solve for world piece.

The only plus that a 10-2 Texas has is they will have wins over the teams that took down Tenn, Ole Miss and Bama.

It may not be enough due to lack of top 25 wins unless Florida/Vanderbilt get some late season upsets, but we didn’t lose to Arky, Kentucky or Vandy

To be clear, I don't necessarily think they are wrong absent multiple other upsets in that scenario.   Like I said, just win and it doesn't fucking matter.  10 games in and still control our own destiny to land a bye.  Pretty good spot to be.

I may have missed it earlier but appears Sankey said loser of SEC champ game should not be punished.  13th data point should be a positive even if you lose.  too damn funny.

obviously concerned about aggy or Texas beating Bama and giving them 3rd loss.

Didn't Indiana also cancel an OOC game against Louisville to stack wins (in their defense, probably hoping for a bowl and not the playoff when the AD made the call).  Indiana's schedule is group of 5 worthy outside of this one game Saturday.  Period.  If they get smoked by 3 TD's, they should take the same nosedive BYU did and frankly behind BYU if BYU wins Saturday.  Because BYU would have 3 or 4 better wins than Indiana.

I think there are more upsets to come amongst the 2 loss sec clusterfuck and we're going to end up with people arguing for a 3 loss team to make it because of secsecsec meat grinder
