Modified my will. Tamales will be served. Pork. Muslim friends can have Kibe.

Went to a funeral of someone that was very influential in my life a few years back. His favorite meal was a Whataburger cheeseburger. What did they have laid out in the fellowship hall after the service? That’s right, dozens and dozens of Whataburger cheeseburger and fries.

I went to a funeral once, where my wife's family friend's son died in a car accident. This guy was a ladies man. His mom wanted stories told at his grave site, where all these chick's would regail us with how they got drunk and take his clothes or whatever back their own apartments.

Then we went to Sauvie Island where the wake was taking place where everyone was getting drunk and eating Mexican food. The place was also a farm, and the Mexicans pulled up to move the water lines to the next area of the field, and whole bunch of college aged guys went out there and decided to race to move the lines the fastest. One guy brought his 22 pistol to start the race. Mexicans won, but probably the most interesting funeral I've ever been to.

I'm going to bump with something that happened to me this weekend, sort of a "would I be the asshole?"

My step-mom's family was in town and some even further extended family joined.

Long story short I sort of hit it off with my step-mom's, sister-in-law's niece. I wasn't blatantly flirting or anything but we enjoyed each other's company.

She has a long-distance boyfriend currently but say it doesn't work out and I see her again at some point. Is this - a bad idea? fair game? a really bad idea? My feeling is it would raise some eyebrows but isn't really "wrong" in any fashion.

I mean I don't even have her phone number or anything it just got me thinking.

I say go for it. But I grew up in South Louisiana, so you should take that into account when weighing my advice.

Yeah for me it feels like something that would be kind of case-by-case.

What would make me (potentially) feel bad is that I'm fairly close with my step-mom's family and it would be weird for her SIL.

Granted, they're from East Texas.

Who cares. The thing about funerals is that the person you are attending for is, well, they're not exactly going to judge you.

Sorry, but if you are attending for the deceased, you’re doing it wrong.

Yesterday, I attended a Celebration of Life and never thought to duck out for tamales. Now I feel like a total failure. Thank goodness more people I know will die and I’ll have the chance for a do-over.

Hey man - we've moved on.

I need to know if it's Kosher to fuck my step-cousin's cousin.

I’m a bit disappointed in you, Z. The appropriate question is: Was it Kosher to fuck my step-cousin's cousin?

I wish I was that much of a player. Although I think I got the most out of my minutes this weekend.

She's a Tech grad and a nurse in case that matters.

I was never much of a player either, but I can coach, and you’re killing me.  A nurse?  God damn son, get in the game!

And, we are generally an assholes or not. If not, consensual honest action does not make you one.

There's a wedding coming up she'll probably be at. I could stand to work on myself in the meantime.

I had to change the oil in my Acura on Saturday.  So I had to pull the bimmer out of the garage to have space to work.  On Friday, I had installed a high flow downpipe onto the bimmer so when I went to start the bimmer up, I decided to rev it up a bit in the garage to hear it.  It was pretty loud.  I pulled the bimmer out to the driveway and as I'm walking back, I see something going on in my neighbor's backyard, which just so happens to be right next to my garage.  They are in the middle of having a wedding ceremony. 🤣

AITA?

Follow up question in order to determine this:

a) Did the decedent love tamales? If so, you were simply paying respects the way he/she would have appreciated.

b) If they did not, did you at least bring some tamales back to give out to the bereaved family? "I'm so sorry for your loss. Would you like bean and cheese, chicken or pork?"

in general, newborns don't eat tamales

why does this happen to me. rosary / funeral combo deal ...

rosary / lunch / mass / graveside

it is as at the nice catholic church and nice family, I was expecting catered mexican food or bbq for lunch. well the altar society wanted to step up, the deceased was very well liked within the church. anywho, sandwiches, chips, veggie tray and punch. now i'm a sandwich guy, but this was heb bread and cold cuts. i think someone made a tub of chicken salad.

anywho me .....

What kind of douchebag doesn’t get invited to his neighbor’s wedding?

Is that what that was?? So bimmer is douchespeak for BMW?

correct-sir.gif

So maybe the original question wasn't framed correctly.  It shouldn't have been "AITA for revving my bimmer during a wedding."  It should've been "AITA for using the word "bimmer?"

In that case...draw your own conclusion.
