I assume we’re going to install the base in these practices and run it in the game.

Sark said in his presser that Nansen is calling the defense for the bowl game.  PK's defense.  They're not going to install Muschamp's till next year.

Wadlington summed it up well on IT

Head coaches do other stuff than just the 3+ hours on game day.

Sark also calls an offense, runs at a pace, and has a roster construction that's decidedly pro defense.

The idea that's he's a circa 2000 Air Raid bro who only cares about putting up points is utterly vapid.

He'd rather win a game 34-13 than 56-35 and that's obvious to anyone who cares to notice.

He wants a DC who can be the head coach of the defense to actually free him not only game day but in the actual operation of the program. Not having to sweat whether he made the perfect complementary and assertive quasi-DC DB coaching hires to help his titular DC who can't solve the back end by himself was an obvious burden.

Why can’t we win them all 56-13?

I should read the whole thread before replying my bad chat.

But mom said it’s my turn to post the same drivel about the offense and why did we fire PK!

Did you actually listen to the press conference.  Sark basically blamed all issues on PK including offense.  Even claimed it was the defense that let them down in big games.

Sounds like PK was actually fired.  It’s one thing to like the Muschamp hire it’s another to scapegoat PK on the way out.

Yeah sark is getting raked all on the internet. His reasoning was fucking retarded and of course he continues to not take accountability just like im his post game presser for his side of the ball.

You say that, but having our pass defense ranking be a triple digit number is inexcusable at this level and PK's salary grade.

As others have pointed out, and as others have said since he was hired, PK didn't understand defensive coaching back-to-front and needed guys to do that for him.

This is an obvious upgrade and criticizing it is dumb.

Now look at the offense vs defense the past 5 years. Look at last years offensive line, look at rushing numbers. It’s definitely an upgrade but Sark scapegoating it is fucking pathetic

Who cares? What is important is the product on the field.

The offense toward the end of the year was becoming potent. Sark has already publicly stated how much of a focus fixing the OL is and you think he's blaming everything on PK?

The reason why the PK shit is happening now is because Muschamp was available and they wanted to make this move with all the players on campus so they don't go running for the portal due to uncertainty and confusion.

The offense is an issue, but if we don't give up a 75 yard TD screen pass with 5 seconds left going into half time of the CB, we beat OSU and likely beat ND to win a championship. PK was a good defensive coordinator but his squad had some monumental fuckups.

no way Sark gets an OC or playcaller - that ain't happening.

Not getting a new O line coach when this is probably his last chance at a staff reboot would be monumentally stupid.

Like I’ve said, he’s holding Flood as the final card.  “You’re right Chris, I thought I could do be HC and OC but alas I can’t.   I’ll let go of Kyle and hire a real OC

Oh noes, the internet is upset? That font of wisdom and wholesome goodness and fairness? How terrible. How will our university's reputation ever emerge from this scandal intact?!? Our interwebz reputation must be protected at all costs.

Seriously, our fans are fucking imbeciles.

Sark actually made a point about this in his presser right now. He said that was one of the reasons he brought Muschamp in, he has HC experience and trusts him to run that room so he can focus more on offense.

Yeah he mentioned it a couple times. Hopefully he actually lets him do that. Easier said than done I bet

Not sure I believe this.

I'm not either but if he won't hire an OC, he needs to do it. I've been saying it for a while. I like that he said it a couple times today and even mentioned being able to spend some time with Arch while the defense is on the field.

He should've, and probably could've done this with PK but right or wrong he clearly didn't have the trust to do so. Hopefully that's different with boom

Replacing PK with Muschamp is a fucking coup.

I think some of you forget we have a legitimate claim to the moniker of DBU.  For us to finish is 102nd in pass defense is unacceptable  and not our standard.

We used to fly banners over the stadium for that kind of shit.

Also - sadly, 90% of bartenders will fuck up a manhattan unless you explicitly tell them how to make it.  If they don't make it with rye, they put in the wrong fucking vermouth, forget the bitters, or figure out some other way to fuck up a drink that only has 3 ingredients.  4 - if you count the cherry and they usually fuck that part up as well.

I don't think any clowns would have sex with them, CTJ.

Edit: I should add... that the reason I'm picking nits with you (like the above, and "rye manhattan") is that there is nothing else you are saying worth arguing against. You'd have to be a complete, and I mean complete "You went total retard, man; never go total retard" to argue any of those points. And just plain dumb to not figure them out before you shared 'em, honestly...

You need to go to better bars. Or drink at home.

Sounds to me like he just wanted a more vocal leader on the defensive side. He thought Will would be an upgrade so he made a change. He wanted Will from the get go. Doesn't diminish anything PK did. Sark saw an opportunity to make his team better. Deserves got nothing to do with it

Try ordering a manhattan or martini England or Europe. It’s a running joke with my wife that I know better and still insist on asking for them. Most places are lost from the jump on either request. It’s mildly infuriating.

Try ordering an old fashioned in Wisconsin or Michigan. They make it with soda and it’s fucking disgusting. I thought intrinsic to the name of the drink there could only be one way to make it.

My best friend likes Rob Roy's with laphroaig, which is fucking gross.  In the 15 years I've known him every single time we go out to have cocktails he has to spend 5-10 minutes telling the bartender or waiter the same fucking thing and it usually goes like this:

"I want the same exact drink my friend just ordered, but exchange the rye with laphroaig."

"It's literally the same fucking thing he just ordered just make it laphroaig."

"Yes, I'm serious.  Bring me the fucking drink."

"What do you mean you don't know how to make a rob roy.  He literally just told you 70% of the ingredients."

There’s no way a coach would choose to be publically fired instead of just resigning.

False.  In college athletics it’s actually the opposite.  If you resign you forfeit your contact and all benefits.  If you’re fired, w/o, cause, your contract is paid out and benefits stay intact.  And in college sports getting fired really means nothing as long as your name isn’t associated with any king of scandal.

To do that with Laphroaig is the most offensive thing I’ve ever heard on this board. I was just at the distillery a few months ago and if the people there heard that they would ban your friend from the island.

I have a suspicion that this isn’t really about the 2025 season performance, it’s at least partially about the 2025 offseason when Sarkisian disappeared.

It sounds like he trusted Kwiatkowski to handle some things, maybe hiring, maybe recruiting, and got let down.

Yeah, and dinosaurs never existed and we never landed on the moon.  If you're going to delve into conspiracy theories at least pick some interesting ones.  If Sark was knee deep in rye manhattans I don't believe for a second that he would have left PK in charge of the program.

The worst one I ever had was at the bar in the Salt Lake City Marriott. No idea what the young missionary put in it…pretty sure it was sprite, a digitally measured shot of bourbon (he said they didn’t have rye) and half a fruit salad and no bitters. Tasted like the 7&7s I made in high school.

So you believe after watching countless post game interviews, this interview, etc that sark takes accountability for his offense? He can blame PK all he wants but facts are 4/5 years the defense out performed Sarks offense. It was a cheap scapegoat comment.

I don’t give a shit that PK was let go, we upgraded with Muschamp. But don’t blame defense or defensive staff for your offense being what it was in comparison.

Sarks comments today about his offense were off putting no doubt. But he was forthright about the PK situation. Muschamp is 3-1 in national title games and should have had a chance in 2008 too. PK has nothing close to that resume. I think it’s a bold move and one that is nothing but good for Texas. Does that mean sark is absolved for his OL and offensive scheme problems, no but he claims he’s the guy to handle it and he’s under contract so we’ll see what he can do. There’s a glimmer of hope - wanting IOL from the portal for the first time since the portal became a thing and migrating to a more college style spread instead of his QB decapitating pro style 12 personnel can’t block useless TEs and long developing route scheme. He’s also seemingly more focused right now than the winter last year so there’s hope. But the goodwill for me anyway is gone. Fuck your feel good story, win or get out.

4 our of 5 years???  Really....I mean I posted the rankings earlier....I like PK but last year is the only year he had a truly dominant defense.

2021- offense scored 30+ points in 8 games losing 2 1 to Oklahoma where they had like a 28pt lead and once to fucking Kansas where the offense scored 56 pts and the defense gave up 57.  Defense held opponents below 30 pts 4 times.

2022-offense over 30 pts 9 times losing 2 to okie lite and tech, def held opp under 30 pts 8 times.

2023- offense scored 30 pts 11 times. Lost 1 to OU. Def held opp under 30 11 times.

2024-offense scored 30 pts 8 times, def held opp under 30 12 times.

2025-offense scored 30 pts 5 timed.  Def held opp under 30 8 timetable

This doesn't include bowl games and 30 is a fairly arbitrary number i admit, but so far its been a wash.  You could argue SEC has better defense and worse offense then the big 12 if you wanted but I'm  not worrying about that.

Personally there is never an excuse for a Texas defense to almost blow a 21 pt lead with 10 minutes to go in a game, I dont care if the offense just takes a knee 3 times and punts every possession. Same with a 28 pt lead over your rival at half time or if the offense scores 56 points no defense with Texas on the jersey should ever give up 57 to fucking Kansas.

You have selective memory or straight up alzheimers if you think the Texas D has carried the team 4 out of 5 years....
