Ah, the post-breakup swimsuit body. No clue why it always takes a breakup to get your shit in gear, but it almost always does.

Revenge bod. It’s a powerful motivator

Whenever I think of this trade, I picture Miriam Adelson as Lucille Bluth talking to Michael and saying something like:

Michael: We need to extend Luka before the season starts, he's our best player.

Miriam: He's a white basketball player, how much could he cost? 10 dollars?

Michael: You haven't actually watched a basketball game before, have you?  He is an MVP candidate and his max extension is $350 million dollars.

Miriam: I don't care I'm not spending that, trade him for one of those tall athletic (cartoonish wink) guys instead. Now, I have to get ready for a fundraiser.

I wonder how much Adelson paid him to go away and keep quiet that the trade was her idea?

It wasn't. It was all nico and the idiot owners didn't know enough to ask anyone fucking else if it was a good idea. They trusted the basketball man the last owner picked and had built a finals team.

Honestly it's not surprising they listened to him, since they thought he knew what he was doing.  If they had ANY inkling of basketball knowledge, or the pulse of the fans, they'd have know it was a horrible trade.

The fact they didn't, and I hate saying this, even broach it with Marc Cuban is still baffling.

I'll never believe that, it's not remotely plausible. Nobody familiar with basketball would think it was a worthwhile trade. Hell, nobody familiar with the concept of barter would consider those values and think it was a worthwhile trade. The decision came from above for nefarious reasons. I can speculate on all sorts of reasons that have been hashed out enough. The fact that Luka went to the league's most valuable franchise needing a younger generational super star to stay relevent, the NBA didn't step in despite the absurdity of the value exchange, and the Mavs then magically fell into the top overall pick with low odds in the lottery, confirms in all material respects that shenanigans were at play. Argue against that all you want, you might convince others, but not me, there is zero logic that supports that any person would make that trade voluntarily without other factors at play.

And it's been pretty clear that the ownership of the Mavs now has no inclination of basketball.  they trusted Nico and maybe the thought of "paying him some huge contract" was on their mind too.

But make no mistake, if Nico doesn't come to them to get permission for the trade, they're not sitting aroudn thinking "hey let's get rid of luka".

Everyone in the know has been consistent that it was ALL Nico.  While the owners share responsibility for signing off on it stupidly, it was Nico's baby and he had to pay for it.

As for the Conspiracy angle. It's far fetched.  But I could see the reasoning.

I just don't think Nico does the trade if he doesn't want to in the end.

The people working for the Mavs organization and those attached to the organization all have the same thing to say about Nico: that he was an arrogant narcissist who burned every bridge he had in making sure his vision of defense above all was made a reality. So either they're all right or Nico's the single greatest actor playing 4d chess enacting miriam adelson's masterplan the sports world has ever seen.

Correct. He’s nothing if not repetitive. This was 100% Nico acting alone with dumbass Dumont as the only family member he had to convince. Adelson wasn’t even involved.

The gutting of a sports franchise. Can’t imagine how disappointed season ticket holders are. Yikes.

I don’t understand how anyone could have renewed. But I also don’t understand how anyone can support the Cowboys, financially, in any way, and they do. I wish Cowboys fans would hold Jerry accountable like they just did Dumont. We are a cursed sports town.

Sounds like smokescreen, like Jerrah revising history after he traded Micah right before the season. You believe the press releases and “people in the know”?

The timing reveals the truth - before the trade deadline as the Adelsons were pushing for legalized gambling. Weird stuff going on. Not waiting after the season to make a blockbuster trade.

The aftermath reveals the truth. Between missing the playoffs and the lottery results, your unsuspecting owner theory loses steam as Nico wasnt fired at that time. An ownership seeing the fan backlash and poor product would have to do something.

Wait you're confusing what I'm saying. They weren't "unsuspecting" they just didn't realize the impact it would have.  They were talked into the deal by Nico.  That's the truth.  Doesn't excuse them for not knowing any better, but it's what happened.  The Draft saved Nico's job for a while...and they were hoping the blow back would die down over the summer, especially if the team started out well.

They didn't, they suck, and it the fans were getting even worse.  It makes perfect sense why the owner may have thought it was okay to keep him, and realized now it's to far gone.

All this conspiracy BS is just that.

AD going "Street Clothes" right outta the gate signed Nico's death warrant, thank god.

AD playing 2 quarters of absolute dominance ball before limping off the court was Oscar worthy cinema.

Arrogant shoe executive/professional jocksniffer & Kobe simp who no doubt spent a lot of time huffing AD's jock as well.  A fucking shoe guy who failed upward cupping Kobe's balls is handed a GM job. Surrounds himself with cronies and yes men. Totally plausible to me that he convinced himself his current Nike mancrush 2-way "superstar" was a better fit for his genius roster.

Luka's stats so far this season: 37.1 PPG, 9.4 reb, 9.1 ast, 49.1% FG

Is that good? That seems good.

And he won't win the MVP because Ant or someone has better "vibes" and the Honks on ESPN will be talking about "American born, ie black" stars.

Yes and they've done all they can to NOT give it to Luka at the same time...and you know I'm talking about i diots like Screamin A and that racist Perkins who basically picked ja and brunson and shai and ant over Luka even when luka was far superior to them all(not last year when Shai actually earned his MVP.

2023 Luka should have have at worst been 2nd, and a case for the MVP...but yet Shai was still be touted over him. Even Brunson.
