This, and doing the same for our primary bedroom walk in closet have taken a lot of stress away.

Every closet and pantry(1) in our house has the button just like a refrigerator that operates the light when the door opens and closes. Anytime I catch someone in the pantry I like to close the door on them.

Seeing Junior High kids( no pedo) hoot, holler, and talk smack while playing NBA Jam 4 player( 2 on 2) game.  Pretty sure I never heard a cussword either.  It was impressive, while also being a reminder of them days when me and my buddies were doing the same over Super Tecmo Bowl/ Street Fighter/ John Elway's Quarterback, although we were a bit older and more profane.

I was just googling "good mother's day gifts" trying to figure out something I can get within a week and one suggestion was fancy chocolates and I remembered that i ordered a fancy box of chocolates to be delivered next weekend like 3 weeks ago.

Took the kids bouldering and climbing (with rope) today. For whatever reason, my kids are good at it and always up for the challenge.

There was one rock face where my daughter got to the top, albeit it took her a while. My boy climbed that like a mountain goat.

Signature Select hot salsa.

Really nails the flavor combination and heat level for my preferences.

Available at stores in the Albertsons family (Jewel, Safeway, Vons, Shaw's).

One Party Size bag of Tostitos Scoops is good for two 1lb containers of salsa.

The Tom Thumb/Signature white corn tortilla chips are quite good for a low-cost alternative.

I'm happy to pay the premium for the bowl-shaped Scoops, but thanks!

Started my day at Love Field for an early flight. Needed a big ole coffee. Line of people 30 deep at the Starbucks kiosk.
Skipped that shit, walked right into Jason’s deli and walked out with a large coffee 60 seconds later.
F’n amateurs.

Better coffee, too.

Verdad.  I like to drink coffee.  Just...coffee.  Not some froofy shit, not burnt-ass "french roast" shit, just plain old trucker coffee.  Pikes Place roast at Starbucks is....fine.  But if I'm traveling and just want a cup of coffee, pretty much anyplace that sells coffee has a regular cup just as good (usually better) than Starbucks.  Convenience stores (if they have Community coffee, that's a big win), any number of fast food places, etc.

My joy in getting a cup of coffee elsewhere while I see a long line of people at Starbucks -- even better when it's 20 fucking cars waiting forever in the drive through -- is one of the purest joys you can know.

One of my best life hacks is "senior coffee" at McDonald's.  It used to be 50 cents, now it varies, but almost always under a dollar.  They don't care how old you actually are.  Quick, easy, cheap, and McD's actually has pretty good coffee now.  Certainly better than Starbucks.  I don't like Starbucks coffee.

I don’t hate Starbucks but always flabbergasted at the lines for it, same goes for  CFA.

Or In-n-out.

At least In-n-Out is still affordable. A meal for 4 is $35-45. For that money I can get a bad ass katsu with leftovers.

Back in my delivery days I’d sometimes buy breakfast at McDs with coffee and then refill it later in the day when I came across another one on the route.

Yep.  My wife likes Starbucks.  If we're traveling, out for the day, etc., and she wants to stop and get a latte, I go along with it and have her grab me just a plain pikes place roast.  It's fine.  But what I've NEVER understood is the American obsession with the drive through instead of going inside.  20 cars in line.  Or, you could park, go inside and get your coffee, and leave by the time they've gotten through 3-4 cars.

And yeah, I don't get CFA either.  It's....fine.  It's a good enough chicken sandwich, I guess, with no spice.  The nuggets are tasty, but I'm only eating them if someone has ordered a tray for an event.  Their waffle fries are horrible, limp sadness.  My hypothesis on CFA is that it's "safe."  It's for people who want a chicken sandwich, but aren't courageous enough to brave the chaos and entropy that is Popeyes.  As for me, I'm a Popeye's man, and my place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.

I'm traveling in Japan. There's a free, clean, restroom with bidet toilets every few blocks it seems. I've been drinking fluids with reckless abandon.

It's unbelievable. Clean, spotless public bathrooms everywhere. That was our first purchase upon returning home -- a high quality, heated, Japanese style bidet with all of the different controls. Game changer.

Also incredible is that the subways are immaculate and silent, people follow the dang rules everywhere, and that despite the lack of any public trash cans (literally, there are none) there is no litter anywhere. We were in Ueno, a massively densely populated area of Tokyo, and at night -- quiet as a mouse, no litter. Amazing.

Convince stores started using the machines that grind the beans and they are typically pretty bad and taste watered down for some reason. I just started going to Starbucks occasionally when I’m close to one and it’s not busy to grab a cup.  If you just get one of the drip coffees it’s pretty good and cheaper than a lot of local coffee shops actually.  My local place I use to go do remote work at to get out of the house just closed down and all the other ones close to me have uncomfortable seats. Wtf is with so many local coffee shops not having drip coffee even?  No I don’t want watered down expresso, I want regular coffee.

Convenience stores are definitely hit-and-miss on coffee quality.  I try to stick with 1) places I already know, if they are a one-off place, convenience store type (I have places I've stopped on certain road trips and routes before that I trust) or 2) a chain, but not something that is going to have 475 yoga pants moms gumming up the works (I appreciate the scenery, but I've got shit to do).  So, McDonald's and BK are on that list, Whataburger is too, but don't sleep on places like Jason's deli.  Also, even a diner/mexican joint that looks to do a lot of breakfast business?  Walk in, go to the cashier and order a cup of coffee to go.  It's likely to be fresh (as they're covering the breakfast rush) and not too pricey.

The simple pleasure of just a decent cup of coffee is a good thing.

Stop comparing my dick to a CFA waffle fry.

One day fast food giants or Bucees will figure a way to put a bar code on a cup, so you have free drinks all day at their locations.

They figured out a way at Great Wolf Lodge.  One time use cups, you scan at the fountain drink dispenser, and you have 20 seconds to fill your cup, and it cuts you off at 32 oz or so.  Smart way to minimize loss, but could pivot to allow you what you're talking about, but in essence, why would any fast food or convenience store offer MORE when it would cut into their overhead?
