Lets see if we can get Jaggy to come back to the negotiation table......is what I WOULD have said if he didn't already meet with OU. There's no coming back after that.

I agree with your takes like 99% of the time on here, but it’s very obvious that the staff was feeding the 9.95ers an overly rosy picture that has not remotely developed. There’s of course still time to correct, but ignoring that this first weekend has not gone according to plan is ignoring reality.

I think you can talk about a slow start without brainlessly bitching about this staff being worse than Charlie Strong after the three years they've had.

Agreed. And they’ll keep doing it, just like this past August, and everyone will lap that shit up as if they’ve never been hoodwinked before.

The Raleek Brown news is fantastic. Like for like replacement for Brown as the lightning back, now we just need the thunder downhill runner.

Comparing Raleek Brown to Isaac Brown is like saying Blue was a solid replacement for Jonathon Brooks. I'm hardly broken up about whiffing on Isaac but come on. It is asinine to act like they are close to the same caliber of player.

Also are you of the impression we got Raleek Brown to commit? The 'fantastic' news about Raleek Brown is that he won't even come visit Austin until after our RB coach goes to his home tomorrow to woo him. He would be a solid pickup but the update wasn't even that confidence inspiring.

That's an absolutely wild and completely incorrect take on Durham being more explosive than Brown because it hasn't been backed up by anything on the field.

Durham had that 10.25 heavily wind aided 100 (adjusted time was like 10.5x!!!) that got him known as a burner in HS but he hasn't proven it on the field really.

Brown averaged 32 percent more yards per carry last year at 6.1 to 4.6. Also more explosive in passing game. Yeah Durham was hurt but he hasn't been a burner in college

He will be cheaper and there is a huge reason why.

When it’s time for the draft, let’s make a bet about who goes higher in the draft. I respect your thoughts but Durham is a better back than R. Brown. Again I might be biased. Neither is Issac Brown but Caden would look world class running against Big 12 defenses like R. Brown did.

Yep, there’s a lesson here that nobody will learn again. People still post Nahlin stuff as reliable information lol.

Did any of us seriously think A&M was going to let Coleman go to Texas? They will take out another mortgage on Kyle Field for an off-season ‘W’ over big brother.

ATM isn't Oregon or Campbell's Tech. They don't have NIL on Texas' level. The only way they actually "outbid" Texas here is with something so truly stupid that it sabotages other shit for them. If Harris and Sarkisian are otherwise spineless enough to let a couple hundred thousand dollars be the difference for them, they are actually weaker than I thought.

Would this Sark to LV smoke be a reason Texas seems a bit cold to start?

Texas has landed their targets at DL, TE, special teams, and likely their top 2 priorities at OL. Two guys they tried to lure into the portal at RB stayed home and they may not land the biggest alleged prize in the whole fucking thing that isn't a QB. Okay. That's not a cold start unless you are an overreacting fucktard on a Texas site or wishcasting rival fan. If Texas lands Raleek Brown as part of their RB solution, that will be snagging one of the unquestioned best RBs in the portal and someone that you and other okies were heartbroken over losing when decommitted and signed with Riley at USC.

So, no, NFL noise isn't involved with any of this. It's an odd overall take coming from someone rooting for a school signing a bunch of guys that Texas wouldn't lower themselves to, for a second desperate cycle in a row.

I mean I like I Brown more overall but this is atleast in the same ball park

Blue and Brooks are wildly different players in every way. These 2 are essentially the same size and utilize speed as their dominant trait. It’s not an asinine comparison

FWIW, Lil’ Nigel and Durham competed against each other only once, two years ago in the 100m. Into a -.1 wind (almost none) they tied with 10.55. Tory Blalock ran 10.57, if I recall. Durham is built like a tank and that speed is not matched by most defenders.

You should start off every portal season with a reminder to everyone that we will not, in fact, sign our #1 targets at literally every position.

And yeah, Bobby openly talking about us getting both Baugh and Brown made me a little ragey because I knew that when it eventually wouldn't happen, barring a miracle, we'd get a bunch of "Whaaaaa? But I was told...."

Idk why anyone would be that surprised about Cam to ATM. He was committed to hem out of HS, Reed is sellable for anyone who hasn’t watched closely, and KC is about to be a 1st rounder. Surface level not a bad pitch

Obviously anyone paying close attention knows Reed is garbage and Wiggins is a questionable OC to rely on, but Cam hasn’t been following any of that shit all year.

As for RB - I’d rather grab Chris Johnson Jr, presumably cheaper than Raleek, and spread the savings elsewhere. Doesn’t sound like that’s happening though.

Losing CC to aggy would really suck, but the bitchassedness really has been turned up on Surly over the last few months. JFC.

The lesson here is not about what 9.95ers say. It's that the Portal is a fucking zoo and incredibly chaotic. Think of all the variables involved. You have dozens of desperate P4 schools reaching out to thousands of players. The reality for us fans is that we are completely in the dark with portal action/negotiations/$$ offers, at least compared to HS recruiting. We don't know jack shit about the details, and it's a fucking battlefield out there.

If you can't handle it, maybe log off and come back in a couple of weeks to see what we ended up with. Good grief.

I think it all comes down to years worth of reports that Texas has endless money, how NIL was going to make it easy, and we're now potentially in the second portal season in a row where Texas has endless excuses for not using the money printer to get top impact player talent.

I recall the reports last off season that it was reasonable not for us to pay top dollar bc b2b semi finals runs were a good selling point.

I mean, wouldn't Coleman be the only potential "loss" as of right now? Baugh and Brown didn't enter the portal, so you shouldn't count those IMO.

Will be bittersweet for me if we land Coleman because then I can’t actively dislike this team and coaching staff like a true Horn fan should.

I'm not sure who's more explosive, but they are both plenty swift and have good long speed as well as small area quickness. To be clear, anyone on a football field (NFL or otherwise) who can run a legit 10.5 100 meter is one of the fastest people on said field. Either of the two would immediately become the back we are missing who has true home run capability. I'd be happy however this one shook out if it is indeed a choice to be made.

It’s not about the money according to Aggy

From the linked article:
At the same time, the Red Raiders can now use transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby as a selling point, while playing with Aggie QB Marcel Reed and star wide receiver Mario Craver will be equally enticing. I don't see USC as a legitimate threat, and Texas will still be in the running regardless.

Not one mention of Manning; smh; after all, it is "aggieswire"

Maybe if we land the Rutgers corner he can help us work on Ian Strong (bigger bodies Rutgers WR in the portal). Good player. Not great and far from a super star but would probably be a similar replacement to Livingstone without costing as much that traitor dickbag was asking for. I'd be quite happily gruntled if we were to pull Tre Richardson and then someone like Strong to fill the depth needed outside.

To be honest Texas seems to be treating free agent like the Kansas City Royals. Pick up spare parts plus one decent but not a home run name or two and stay far under the tax cap.

If Sark’s true mentality is “we don’t want to set a market” then fuck him. Texas should set every market. He can’t put together an OL worth a shit though so I shouldn’t expect more. /grumpy Monday rant

I feel like there's so many receivers at every level that its the 1 spot you don't overshoot your wad on.

For us its OLine and RB right now the most critical, that will make everything better . We'll find someone better than we've lost, even if I have a soft spot for Mick Jaggerson

Just now, Js1 said:

Fuck. Didn't see that. Oh well. Not going to lose sleep over it but he was a very solid potential plan B candidate.

OL is the most important thing for this team. If that's being worked on, I don't need the best RB, I just need a capable one that will give it his all no matter what. Wisner could have made himself money after college just by how impressive his numbers could have been behind a great OL. He didn't stay to find out and instead chased money now. Brown is missing out too, but he can continue to opt in and opt out of games at Louisville while getting paid.

Cam Coleman isn't anything to me. I'm not worried about not getting him. Parker should have stayed, and if he goes to ou I can't wait to crush him. Otherwise, I probably won't remember him at all.
