Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - Eloi! Eloi, lama sabachthani!

The negotiating team badly, and I mean BADLY, misjudged where the market for offensive position players is. These guys have been in groupchats since middle school, and they're well-aware what they can get by leaving Texas. Jagger Jagingjag knew he could get high six-figs by leaving, and he was right. And other players saw that, and their agents are screaming at them to go get more money. So they are. If it's true that Michigan offered less to the OLs to stay and they took less than what we offered, the problem is pretty obvious that nobody respects Flood or wants to play for him, and the pitch Michigan's coaches have been making is that taking less today is a long term investment in their development and draftability.

So on the money, we're dealing with a stubborn, backwards, out-of-touch negotiation team, and on the football side of things, it's pretty clear that Sark and Flood aren't commanding the kind of respect or able to credibly pitch themselves as being able to offer the best opportunity to get guys in the NFL, or at least not for our IOL targets. There is no excuse for this. Sark has known, since at least the week the decision was made to switch Hutson to Guard (Vandy, the final week of October and the first week of November) that picking up an elite offensive line would be the top priority.

HOW THE FUCK, THE EVERLOVING FUCK, ARE YOU ONCE AGAIN CAUGHT FLAT-FOOTED?? YOU HAD ONE FUCKING JOB

Interesting theory but I don’t think Muschamp is the type to sign onto something like that.

This. Muschamp had a pretty nice gig in Athens - why would he sign on to watch Sark walk away. He got some assurances before he agreed to come out of semi retirement.

lol at total thread meltdown over a 4th string TE, when we are bringing in another more experienced and (at least apparently) more physical TE and have 3 that were ahead of him remaining....

Is that what the meltdown was for? I had figured it was the combination of losing out on all 5 of our highest targets in the portal and then losing young promising depth at LB and DB.

Currently needing to count on an OT who has never started for us to come back from season ending knee injury and a returning Center that was only serviceable for us at best. The holes on the OL and LB are massive.

The portal the last 24 hours has gone about as bad as it could have for us, Bo Mascoe excepted. It’s so bad many of us are convinced there’s something going on behind the scenes as to why we can’t overpay to get top recruits to come to fucking Austin, Texas to play for one of the blue blood universities in Arch Manning’s National Championship run. There is no better sales pitch for this transfer portal cycle, and we are basically getting punked worse than Susan Dell’s eyebrows.

Sark and Brandon Harris are like Louis Winthorpe III and Billy Ray Valentine waiting for just the right moment to buy back all the shares of Frozen Concentrated Orange Juice and corner the market.

They are just waiting to see who wins the national championship, then buy that entire fucking team. All-in moonshot....

Nah, you’ll find plenty of content to work with. I might even give you some

Some of the names being floated right now as portal risks were supposed to have already been locked down with signed contracts for 2026. That is extremely alarming.

Y'all need to just calm down. I've got super-secret connections with Loreal's landscaping guy who told me we gave an "acuerdo de caballero" with all players from the remaining final 4 teams that the top 4 OL performers, top 2 performing LB, top 3 performing WR, and Kewan Lacey will all transfer to Texas once the national championship is over. All conversations held thus far have been just to drive up prices for other schools. In addition, John Harbaugh is coming in as a consultant.

Be calm - it's all coming together beautifully.

Unless he knows what’s ahead and knows he will have to take over. Like, say in my instance, the lieutenant governor.

Sark doesn’t need Harbaugh, he seems to already have a pretty good handle on how to waste the prime years of a dynamic QB.

It sounds like college football.

We'll be a'ight.

I'd be more worried about Jabba eating Arch.

As someone who hasn't yet done their full due diligence on these NIL deals & regulations of them, are they only limited to 1-year agreements? Why the fuck are schools having to renegotiate with 1st and 2nd year players??

17 minutes ago, David Dennison said:

You tell us, Brandon.

I'm a guy that roots for the players and greatly appreciates the change in life trajectory that college football can provide for folks. My family has been direct beneficiaries of this. As such, the portal was a welcome addition to college football for me - just an opportunity to get to know more of these kids, and for them to have more opportunities for betterment. However, I think this year and the way the portal is being handled will be a tipping point. In the agents' and kids' rush to get paid, I think they've forgotten just how ruthless a free market economy can be. Some of these kids have fucked themselves massively. Not just the guys who are going to have to drop down a tier in competition or prestige, but the thousand or so (at least) young men who won't be playing football next year, and likely won't be in school. In fairness, this has been the case each year of the portal, I just haven't seen it to this degree.

Hope Texas uncovers some linemen, and hope some of these kids stop listening to these agents (and vice versa). Fuck refreshing this thread until at least tomorrow.

Honestly, this all kind of puts Sark's anti-agent rant in a new light. Just a matter of degree separating that and Dabo (before he got with the times). Somehow all these other staffs have managed just fine. Just excuse after excuse.

I think college football was uniquely dumb before it was legal to pay players. Then they found a uniquely dumb way to legally pay players. They really just fuck it up and make it weird when there are a bunch of professional sports that figured it out.

That was one of my first thoughts when he was hired.
If Sark is leaving, as many thought, or still think... then he'll be exactly where Texas wanted him when he was Head Coach in Waiting.

I doubt it would play out that way though.

Which of the players who has left are you thinking we're not going to be able to replace?

Baxter? Wisner? Lefau? Moore? Livingstone? Washington seeing what's going on as far as his place on the depth chart and saying, "Welp, I'm outta here."? Kibble?

now dont start that again the jungle book GIF

Sprague and Brunner would've really made that first five a good unit. Somehow have to close on Brunner.

I wonder how this portal season will affect highschool recruiting this coming year. With all of these young guys transferring without contributing much but also taking a decent amount of NIL to recruit and retain while they were on campus, could we see highschool NIL values come down a lot? Maybe not for the top tier guys, but I could see a scenario where schools (and donors) aren't going to pay much this year for players who likely won't see the field the first year or two.

We could be in for a wild highschool recruiting period as there could be a pretty sizeable market adjustment.

Barnes would be by far be the most damaging portal defection imo. I hope Muschamp can resolve the situation, because outside of that his side of the ball has been fine portal wise.

That would be a pretty disappointing move by CDC if that was the plan.

My guess is he signs with Texas. He wants a guaranteed payday and that’s cool. I hope he gets it. I think Dillingham said his comparison to a pro back was Kenneth Gainwell if memory serves correct.

Funnily enough, I had Gainwell on my FF team and I almost gave up on him until he started actually pounding the rock. He got me to the champ game where I lost by 4 points because my idiot TE decided to sit out at the last minute.

Good thing Muschamp is here otherwise Sark would have to quit all his offensive portal recruiting to cover for PK

Take this fwiw. I’ve been talking with a guy who is good personal friends with people in the middle of the current Texas sh*tshow.

There has been a belief that Texas’ roster overall isn’t good enough to compete with a few other programs (which is obviously true; we’ve all seen that).

So in their efforts to remake the roster, they’ve been pretty aggressive and it’s domino’ing a bit to guys they don’t want to lose. They are doing their best to get those guys back, such as Williams. And for whatever reason, they still seem fairly positive about their ability to improve the roster more broadly. They don’t seem to be panicked.

So that means either they have a lot of moving parts not visible, or they are so incompetent they still can’t see the mess emerging.

Edit: or as my friend pointed out to me, they may just be giving him bs.

No coach like this landscape. They may keep it to themselves better than Dabo, but they would all anonymously vote to change it.

I figured that was one that might go this direction. He actually showed out as a true freshman against Michigan. He's in line to play a ton next season even with a LB or 2 being brought in. He seems like a prototype LB for Muschamp with his size and ability to move. Bet he walks back in soon.

Virtually no staffs around the country are managing fine. Most of them are having to put everything in just to keep the players they already had. Almost no one is actually gaining yet.

I in fact did not see that. I saw fucking garbage coaching and shitty play calling with terrible OL play and a QB who had the fucking yips for half the season.

Is there even such a thing as locking a guy down right now? We are 24 hours removed from a guy signing with his current team then another team enticing him into the portal a few days later.

man I really misunderstood what they meant by “Texas is going all in”… I didn’t know it meant all of our players were going into the portal but in hindsight it makes sense.

I saw all that, coupled with limited talent at WR, RB, and OL.

He did this mythical "graduate year" at a prep school to increase his appeal to D1 programs. This is an actual thing, but I think you mostly see it in the northeast.

So, he may not be all that snooty.
