Joe Cook is on Twitter whining that Texas has scheduled too difficult of an OOC P4 in the future with 9 SEC games. I understand what @Wulaw Horn is rubbing his vagina over. The dipshit over at IT are carrying the “we’re pussies at Texas” banner on the social media front. Fucking awesome. Maybe Chip Brown and Kirk Bohls will join in to form a chorus of fates with those dipshits.

I’m in favor of our out of conference schedule being Ohio state, Notre dame and USC every year and have said we should riot if we don’t get 9 conference games. This bullshit about avoiding playing good teams to Indiana style game your record at 10-2 is bullshit.
I mentioned you yesterday that it’s all over IT. I thought I saw it here too in the last year but maybe over there is the only place it’s been. I know what I hear a lot of times but don’t pay attention to who says it.

My answer, Joe Cook, is MOAR!

Then again, I'm not a raging pussy and think to be the best you beat the best. I also love big match-ups for my team. Sidenote, so does the rest of the fucking country that doesn't have sandy vaginas.

If the SEC is so tough, how is aggy's conference record better now than it was in the Big 12?

Hell, they even struggle to beat two of those teams regularly.

Yearly games against a very beaten down Arkansas squad and ducking Georgia for a decade.

Texas needs to schedule a legit 2030/31 home and home with someone from the ACC and reiterate we ain't scared to play anyone.

Joe Cook is the managing editor at IT? Are we sure he knows what teams are P4?

His X post is downright stupid given Sankey's directive and what's happening with CFB's adjusted strength-of-schedule metrics. Plus, the CFB Playoff field will probably expand to 16 soon. Nothing is changing with future skeds on our end.

Is it really?  I guess the Covid year with fake football, no crowds, and them beating no one good kind of skewed things.

They still have not had back to back winning records in conference games since the 1990s.  They go 4-4 in the SEC and 4-0 in their nonconference cream puffs where in many years their tough game was against some awful team like Colorado pre-Deion and then brag about going 8-4 against a SEC schedule.

I am hoping the committee will lead the way and no longer just look at records and give teams with the fewest losses the benefit of the doubt.  Because that just rewards weak schedules.

Last time I checked, aggy's conference record has gotten progressively and marginally better with each change.

SWC < Big 12 < SEC

To your point, 2020 skewed their results.

They’ve literally announced this week that they’re going to start ensuring that they review the entirety of a team’s performance against schedule. I don’t know why it took this long, but we’re moving there now.

One thing we haven’t discussed but it was clear to me listening to Finebaum’s interview with Sankey yesterday, is that these guys have numbers now that are beyond compelling directionally. It’s obvious, but for some reason it hasn’t been to everyone. Big games and big matchups drive interest and value. Of course.

Beyond that, however, is the opposite, and that’s getting really understood for the first time. The shit games against shit opponents devalue brands and discourage interest. There were more than 10 SEC vs FCS games last year with under 100,000 viewers allegedly. The only reason to have those was for schedule manipulation that the league supported. They’re no longer going to support that.

I’m not saying there will be a mandate, there might be, but there will be ramifications at every level. If Texas is  9-3 with an OOC loss at Notre Dame and ATM is 10-2 with OOC wins against bumfuck u, stumblefuck u and last chance u, and worse losses in conference, ATM isn’t going to get any friendly pushes. That’s where Sankey thinks this is rapidly heading and he’s admittedly driving it there.

He flat out said he wants every P4 scheduling other OOC games against P4s, which is why the SEC created their own mandate. They’re looking at adding some other conferences and teams as “preferred” in another tier as well, per his own words. They see the light now. Bigger games lead to bigger dollars, every week of the season.

I was glad to see that announcement. I hope they are faithful to it.  Because there is still some old school thinking with poll voters about not putting a 3 loss team above a 2 loss team.  I prefer more of a power ranking approach.  Say Ohio State loses to us in a close game late.  They really should not drop in the polls due to that loss (unless Texas was somehow a fraud and we end up losing a bunch of games).  I hope teams that schedule FCS byes in November are penalized.  I'd drop them in the polls for that nonsense.

I would guess that would mean recent G5 CFP participants.  Like, sure you can schedule Boise State as your marquee OOC game within a window of X amount of years since their CFP appearance.

Which I would also support.  A G5 team who got a CFP invite within the last 3 years is a very good program/game to schedule.

Does where the game was broadcast matter? If it were better games it would be on a bigger network, and if it weren't people would go out of their way to find where the SEC network was showing the game. We do it all the time personally for games we want to watch. We find a way. If people aren't finding ways to watch those games, it means they're dogshit and no one cares.

Why worry in the era of playoffs? If we have 3 losses we can fuck off.

Imagine crying about our schedule after decades of yawn-inducing bullshit in the Big XII.

Now that we live in a world where 3 loss teams can make a college football playoff, I want Texas to play as many big time programs as possible.

A 10-2 SEC/B1G program will almost never be left out of a 16-team playoff, but....

A 9-3 SEC/B1G program whose 3rd loss was at a marquee opponent may have a stronger resume than a 10-2 team who played nobody and still  lost 2 games.  And then that 10-2 team could be left out or seeded below the 9-3 team.

Sure.  But the lazy Joe Cooks of the world will say that offset a weak Big XII conference schedule, and now Texas is in the inverse scenario playing in the murderous SEC conference schedule, so it should just go cupcake in nonconference.

I mean, yeah. SEC Network or one of the other minor networks will naturally have fewer viewers.

It's also entirely possible that at some point, a win over Ohio State or Notre Dame or whoever in week two is what gets a 9-3 Texas team into the playoff. But even if not, what's the plan for the Joe Cooks? Rice, UTEP, and Texas State every year for the foreseeable future? That's really dumb.

Also it’s not allowed. Did he just ignore half of Sankey’s announcement yesterday where a team HAS to schedule a P4 opponent or ND out of conference?

That will not fly with the new requirements for SEC OOC scheduling

That too. So, we're just creating a problem where none exists.

Texas is fully compliant with the new scheduling requirement in 26-29 and 32-33. And it should be pretty easy to find a P4 team from the other 3 conferences in 30 and 31. We have like the least amount of work to do moving forward. We are the example other teams should look at

Plus we HAD a P4 opponent in 30 and 31 before the SEC move made it a conference game (Florida)

I think what you're failing to understand is that the brass understand that, because it's obvious. There's "fewer viewers," and then there is "Holy shit less than 100k people watched Alabama horsefuck Murray State...including Alabama fans."

No- I filter between “idiot”, logical/normie type and expert/insider.
I just don’t remember for example if Helo or BO&W for example is in the idiot file. It’s ultimately a distinction without a difference.
These people on IT that are running with this clearly aren’t in the idiot category, but not all the way to insider/expert.
