ha. behind both OU and Vandy. gotta love the historical polls and the loss column.  if we play Virginia Tech instead of Ohio State the coaches and AP would have us at 8.

This is where I’m at. No point in scheduling big out of conference games anymore. If we played some pot licker school instead of Ohio state there would still be a chance we make the playoffs.

Not likely this team would make it far anyways, but you never know when things start clicking and get hot and can make a run.

Would we beat VT by 3 in OT also?  Let it go.  We're not that good.

Well, Aggy is gonna play that powerhouse 1-9 Samford team….theyll be lucky to score.

At home.

If they hadn’t changed the rules for next year, I would absolutely be in favor of penalizing a team 5 spots just for playing a D2 school.

yep. likely a first round bounce out but depends on the matchup.  the committee does seem to be a bit better than the traditional polls in regards to the loss column.

that said we keep giving reasons to have people drop us even in our wins.

There is no planet where a Texas team that got blown out by Georgia like yesterday gets into the playoffs with the rest of the SEC resume.

sure but the committee shouldn’t punish teams for OOC losses if they want teams to schedule them. Especially when that opponent is #1, on the road. Texas should be treated like a 2 loss team.

Even if they beat a&m? I know not likely they will, but humor me.

Texas is functionally being treated as a two loss team. Ahead of several two loss teams and behind some. Right behind two-loss USC. About a 1/5 chance of making the CFP— better than any 3 loss team.

In the AP poll the two loss teams ahead don’t have more than one non-competitive loss. They have good wins. Texas’ win vs OU and Vandy are good but wins over UGA, USC, Pitt, Bama, Iowa, Arizona State, and ND are good wins. Some really good wins. And there’s also not clearly handling bad teams a couple times.

Texas isn’t being punished for the tOSU game; the big issues are the way the UGA and UF losses went and the inconsistency in other wins.

this is the most undisciplined horns team i can remember

arch overcame flag after flag after flag and the D kept us in it until arch sailed the pick

against a 5 or 6 at their place we would embarrass the brand

and i don't think we are going to beat aggy

there, i said it

With one of those losses to a 3-7 football team.

Give them aggy’s or a B1G schedule and what’s their record?

Probably 3-7. They’ve beaten Long Island University, Mississippi State, and Texas.

You forgot lost to Florida.

Losing to Florida and getting curb stomped by Georgia is a clear indication we don't deserve a playoff spot. Anyone thinking Texas deserves to get ass pounded in a CFP game is just delusional at this point.

Also, to throw fuel on the fire the offense didn't do jack shit against OSU.

But sure, we should be in the CFP.

I would say Mich v USC was meaningful but the rest is chum

Oregon-Iowa was a good game too with implications.

The Big Ten is hierarchical, not meaningless. tOSU, Indiana above Oregon above USC, Michigan, Iowa. And the games have ended up basically in order of hierarchy. No real chaos or parity at the top.

And: tOSU has ducked most of the depth of the conference. This is what to expect from superconferences. They were and are a bad idea.

Look at the records of teams behind Texas, Texas is being treated like a two loss team (highest ranked 3 loss team and ahead of several two loss teams), a two loss team that has only one really good win and a bunch of trash wins, a blow out to Georgia and a loss at Florida.

Which win is the really good one, OU or Vandy?

OU I’m not all that impressed with Vandy. We’ll see maybe Vandy proves to be a team worth a shit but they haven’t beaten anyone.

Notre Dame is still getting way too much credit for losing to aggy and Miami while playing an abysmal schedule outside of those two games.

I hate ND with the heat of 1000 suns and fuck them but they did beat USC and Pitt both on the road.  though playing at USC is like playing at neutral site.

What kind of black and white kindergarten world do you live in? Florida has a good roster that got mismanaged, they’ve competed with Georgia, ole miss, and aggy. They jumped Texas and held on. When they’re motivated, they’re legit despite the chaos, and I hope Texas poaches some gators this off season. The playoff-contending B1G teams have strength of schedules ranked in mid to upper 30s (or #50 for Ohio State). Florida’s SOS is #2, Texas’ #6, your Sooners land at #10.

For the record, I’m not arguing that Texas deserves anything. Texas shit the bed against Georgia but Arch is finally playing at the level we expected. Texas could lose to Arkansas and Aggy or win both. IF Texas fucks around and finishes 9-3, they could get lucky and sneak in.

Good news for us: we will just get to watch the playoffs on TV. No need to worry about driving.

Replace Ole Miss with IU, Oregon, OSU, Georgia on replacing starters. Add Lubbock and CS to the hard to win places.

The go read all the posts saying it was a rebuilding year for Texas and Longhorn fans have unrealistic expectations.

Try not to break your phone.

Yep with the new landscape of college football, starting with the transfer portal, then adding NIL, re-building years shouldn't exist any longer for the competitive teams. A lot of talent to go around, go find it. Texas didn't do shit to replace the offensive talent they lost last year. aggy saw they had an offensive weakness and went out and loaded up on WRs. Gone are the days of teams like Bama stockpiling talent back when players wanted to go to those teams at a chance for a ring. They are going to go where they can start. And with NIL, no longer certain programs having the edge because they do it under the table and others wouldn't participate.

Absolutely no excuse for a school like Texas to struggle to replace and re-load players. They got out-did by Tech and aggy this past offseason. When does Ohio State ever really have a down year? Ever since I have been a senior high school (2003), Ohio State is always there. And that was even in the old days of no NIL, transfer portal. The talent of WRs they land year after year, I am jealous. Bama used to put those rosters together, too.
