Looking at a bidding war for Elko, between ND and Meatchicken?

Agreed it'd be hilarious, but I can't imagine why either would want him after that shit-show on Saturday.

They were the biggest fraud of the season.

I'm not persuaded that Elko is going to be more then "meh" as a head coach.  But who are the better and more realistic candidates for ND and Michigan right now?  Do they go the NFL route and hire a former pro head coach or current coordinator?

The old AD, Savvy Jack Swarbrick, would do an exhaustive search of coaches already working at Notre Dame.  The new guy has never had to hire anyone.  What's Will Muschamp up to, wait never mind.

Is that an opinion or a Christmas wish?

Yes

Elko's main issue is he has no rolodex or connections to get coordinators or position coaches.  He'd take those meh coordinators he just promoted with him to his next stop, probably.

I think his biggest issue is a deep-seated contempt for offense that lots of good defensive coordinators have.

Also his gravy addiction.

Yeah, I posted in another thread, but in Looch's post-game show on Saturday he actually tossed aside the typical wait-till-next-season sunshine for a moment and seemed to express some measure of concern that Elko promoted within for OC and DC.  I can imagine a "who would your coordinator hires be" discussion not going over well in an interview.

But he won an Ivy League Championship with the University of Pennsylvannia Quakers.

He old, but he's a culture guy.  Fix the Michigan mess, install a system, leave it to a successor

He might be a bit long in the tooth, but his probably "better" at the job itself than Moore and will be a great 3 or 4 year stopgap to get Michigan behind all of this...

Now, its time to fire the AD after an "internal" review regarding this shitshow and with a new HC in place that we all know is a short term answer..

Michigan and Penn State both stumbled ass backwards into decent hires.

Riiiiiight.

Great hire for Michigan , and yes @WhatTheBuck I was wrong

Looks like he's already pillaging staff from BYU and Utah much to their dismay

Add PK to the list of potential DCs

I actually think Whitt will do well, but this made me laugh.

Yeah, jokes aside I agree here. This is an admission that the program will need a factory reset. Wittingham won’t be the guy to win an NC, but he can be the guy to go to the CFP and make UM a desirable destination.

Predatorizing?

As a native of those parts, I can tell you it goes like this....

And they appear from wherever. Typically, their intent is fairly straightforward.

David Lee Roth was on point.

I was just watching Tyran Mathieu talking about Lane Kiffin and LSU and joking around with a former teammate and then he dropped the bomb that to get anywhere in the coaching world these days you have to go through Jimmy Sexton.

Didn't he retire?

He made it known he wasn’t done coaching. Utah was ready to move onto the HCIW before he got poached

Ah, OK. If he gets the Michigan job thy might turn out to be a blessing in disguise. He's a really solid coach.

It's not Utah's "trash". I doubt Utah fans really wanted him gone.

Yeah, they all assumed he was going to just fade into retirement.

Yeah I think it’s weird Utah forced him out for a HCIW if he still wanted to coach. I figured he just wanted to end on a high note so coached this season year to recover from last season which wasn’t good. He did that so I figured it was retirement. Just a weird situation. He’ll help Michigan get passed this stuff.

it's a smart move.  He will stabilize a program that's fucked up every which way.
