I’m not a trust the coaches guy but how do they teach experience. We have a bunch of young new starters and older new starters that still need experience. We may not be the best at certain positions but we are definitely not the worst. If you want to say our coaches are shit for development and evaluation because we’re only 6-2 and not undefeated that’s cool. A lot of coaching staffs around the country are much worse if that’s the baseline.

I was referring to the specific position groups I mentioned.

Legit question:  how much of Herman's firing do y'all think was related to performance and how much was related to behavior?

Herman was an unlikable prick with a smoking hot crazy wife who participated in doing blow off stripper titties. Being disliked gave Herman no breathing room when it came to losing. He was unpolished and looked like a doofus. The sledgehammer incident, the double bird to the LHN cameras during recruiting day and the Drew Lock backpack thing made him look like an unpolished moron who couldn’t lick the butter off Mack’s teeth.

The Eyes of Texas controversy where Herman said he wouldn’t force the players to sing it seemed to be the final straw, especially after Sam was pictured on the field by himself during the song. The way Herman circled the drain at FAU would’ve eventually happened here, but I don’t think Herman would’ve ever let us have such an absolute dogshit O-line like the one we have in Year 5 of Sark. I still don’t understand how Herman recruited lion-hearted guys like Rojo, Bijan and JWhitt despite being a gigantic asshole who couldn’t shut up about being in Mensa.

If he was typing with one hand it would make a lot more sense. No way I could get a boner while reading this abomination of a thread tho.

Herman will be at U of H this week for the ten year (2015 team) reunion. Fritz encouraged him being there. According to a variety of sports articles I just read.

Herman is…(checks notes)…doing nothing right now after flaming out spectacularly at Florida Atlantic and being fired. Yes. He was on a damn nice trajectory when we hired him. Yes he was the hot coach candidate at that time.

I always look to see where HC’s wind up after leaving here (fired or not.) Had we not fired him and kept him another year, he would have given everyone (not in the know about the personal crazy) a reason for his being righteously fired down the road.

Bottom line: he was going to get shitcanned whether it was the year we did it or soon down the road. And he ain’t doing dick now.

I say the above because, still to this very day, there are curiously some people still who believe  Texas should not  have fired him when we did. These people continually question why, they need more information. The crazy personal shit should be enough. He did deserve it. He absolutely would not be our HC right now if we hadn’t fired him when we did. And he’s so sought after getting shitcanned from FAU that He’s doing absolutely nothing now. Other than an appearance at a ten year reunion for a team that catapulted him to the HC of UT.

As others have said, when you're that completely despised your margin for error becomes much, much thinner. So, guess you could say it was a little Column A and a little Column B.

The easy answer is we have too many uber-wealthy alums, who like sports (especially football) and they're rarely all aligned. Other programs might have one or two monster swinging dicks that call the shots. We have dozens probably at that level and they're not afraid of rattling sabers to get closer to their preferred outcomes.

Saban and Freshwater are actual friends. I was listening to Theo Von and Freshwater and he said Saban is a hard ass, but after the season he invited he and his (now ex-wife) and kids over for the holidays, and how he as a person is the kindest man, and the love he has for his grandchildren was something special. He said watching him play with them, building Legos, coloring, playing cars, etc was a side people would never believe until they saw it. He says he's a hard ass because he's a perfectionist, but after he's done chewing your ass on the field after the game, he'll tell you why. He won't apologize, but he will explain to you why he didn't like this or that play call, etc. He said he never throws any of the coaches under the bus and always accepts responsibility. He said he loves him and his kids see him as a grandfather. They still keep in touch.

What? He's fucking hilarious. And yeah, I realized my phone added an extra 'N', so my bad on that. If you don't like Theo, cool, but he cracks me up.

Anyway, it wss a great interview, and it wasn't like typical sophmoric humor ones, either. Dude is a huge CFB fan and went to LSU, so him talking to Kiffin was great. Plus hearing Kiffin actually converse outside of coach speak bullshit was nice to hear. He seems like a genuinely good dude.

I don't recall the line being all that stellar under Herman.

It wasn't, that's why Sam often had to play hero ball and got the shit knocked out of him semi-regularly.

Ehlinger's ability made the line look better than it was. I looked it up. We had two offensive linemen get drafted from the Herman era -- Sam Cosmi and Christian Jones.

The OL was dogshit under Herman too, but it was more solid sun dried chunks while Sark’s OL is cold slippery diarrhea with dudes rolling around each other all over the floor.

did you watch the game?

Florida sliced through them at collie station the first drive

Then aggy threw a bomb and completed it and took the momentum, but it was 14-14 at the end of the first quarter.

Florida's defense couldn't keep their energy high on the road after giving up those big plays.

It was 17-21 when Reed though an interception in the 4th quarter....

Then the next drive sun belt billy went for it on 4th and 6 on the 50 yard line like a fucking rube.

And Aggy stopped them.

what did Sark’s team do?

get fucking wrecked repeatedly.

your trying to gloss over that is… delusional

Nah. He needed firing due to the downward trajectory of recruiting.

also, I think admin and big $$ thought they had a real chance at Urban Meyer (and then the Jags called).
