I like Diego Pavia.

He is a tough-nosed baller and keeps plays alive with his feet and throws really well on the run.

How many times did he get past our linemen when other QB's would have been caught?

He's the kind of person you don't want to be competing with at your first big job when you are in your twenties, unless you were really, really determined and don't waste your nights partying w your friends, 'cause he's gonna be grinding away.

I'm happy someone like him, who has had a tough road, is having success.

Doing this with six years experience definitely helps.

I like to think of myself as a patient person, but the last three weeks - during which we have not lost a game - has done more to engender my hatred for half the people on this site than the entire firs four seasons of Sark’s tenure.

I’m an emotionally stunted retard and even I can see that y’all can’t process anything that doesn’t pass through your angry emotional filters.

Sark and PK played this game exactly how you are supposed to. That’s what made the officiating so egregious. Also, Gilbeau to too dumb to play DB. Fire Akins for playing him, I guess?

but you morons who are still complaining despite Sark and Manning’s having one their best games of the season need to go. The fuck. Away.

To me it just means you may not understand the game thread or even surly during a game, is just pure emotional trauma center.

we live and die with each play.  It means we lose or win based on that play.  Yes it’s silly but expecting fans to be reasonable in the middle of a game is a losing battle.

Also complaining about people griping during a game, IN the game thread,  is just as fucking silly as those of us in the game thread complaining.

basically you can’t expect hard core fans to sit on their hands during 1 game of 12 games season. This isn’t basketball or baseball.  Just not gonna happen.

you might as well be an old man yelling at a cloud.

Maybe, but I’m more talking about the cumulative bullshit of the last 4 weeks. Goes waaaaaaaaaay beyond the game threads.

Or have you not read the “Sark to the NFL” thread?

1) what was dumb about it?  We tried to blow a 24 point lead again because we played weak prevent D and went soft on O in the 4th.  That is the exact opposite of a killer instinct.

2)Sounds like you might want to take your own advice.

You chased down one of my older posts from the other week in a different thread just to neg me back. Then you made a separate post to disparage me. All because your feelings were hurt.

I can tell it will be a waste of my time explaining what's dumb about your post.

And that’s fair if you’re talking outside of game day.  I know I’m much less agitated Monday through Friday than I am on game day. Wouldn't expect us to be normal on Saturdays.

but the rest do the week? I agree with you.

Offense played fine. Refs were bad. Defense fell apart, particularly once Filasamee got hurt. This is different if we have any of our actual safeties playing.

Coincidence that we won by 3 and the line was 3.5?  Naaaaahhhh

the 2 point conversion was awful.  Why even have the pylon cam?

Vandy's OL was egregiously holding throughout the game.  Lance Jackson was tackled from behind on Pavia's TD run

The no-call PI on Mosely's near TD.

That unsportsmanlike in the endzone was garbage

Pavia reverse tackling out of bounds then vandy swarming a Texas player at their bench was pretty wtf.

Yeah I’m usually pretty critical of team and I’m inclined to give a total pass with the level of fuckery going on.

Defensive scheme needs to change when we’re up big (though no scheme fixes your CB letting someone run right by them).

This is why I can’t get too worked up about the 4th quarter performance. The refs had their full body weight on the scales. It was blatant. I don’t think anyone else will get that level of special attention, but let’s just hope FanDuel doesn’t have other plans.

This.  A penalty should have been called on him as well.  Re the 2 point call camera angle did not appear to be perfectly in alignment with the playfield edge of the goal line.  Replay showed a ref with the proper view of that edge which makes it likely the ball just brushed the line.  I thought it was wrong at first too, but that slight angle makes a difference.

Plenty to be worked up about, the coverage bust is #1. That is the one play that made this an anus puckering game. You just cannot have a bust in that situation.

I thought I saw Guilbeau pulled late and I did not see him return. Can anyone confirm?

On the pylon deal, I don't think that's right.

Yes, the camera was a little bit behind the pylon looking forward and that introduces a "parallax" error.

But you can also see the entire front edge of the goal line and mentally project a plane upward from that.  The ball was never close to that plane, much less across it.

The parallax error made it seem the ball was closer to the pylon than it was.

There apparently is an "official" camera in the pylon itself, but it would be subject to the same type of error as the broadcast camera, because a pylon isn't exactly a rigid structure, so you'd have to do the same plane projection as with the broadcast camera and isn't inherently more accurate.

What’s the deal with Guilbeau this season? He’s never been great in the backfield but it’s gotten especially bad. Can he not handle the move to CB? Could he move back to star/safety?

Hes a good enough athlete that I’d like to see him deployed in some way, but he clearly can’t see the field well enough.

I think that was Guilbeau tackling on the 2-point conversion, which came after the bust.

I owe the thread an apology. Apparently the site outperformed last Halloween weekend by a pretty wide margin traffic wise (double digit %)

I wasn't thinking about how this weekend is one of the weekends with lots of "other plans" for nearly everyone.

A riveting game 6 and 7 of the WS. And a huge 5 set VB match against Aggy on Friday night. Was a lot going on!

I think it was the overhead view that got the call upheld. There was a shot where it seems like a smidge of the football may have grazed a smidge of the white line, so call on the field stood. The parallax error from the pylon cam makes it seem more egregious than it probably was.

Having said that, I usually role my eyes when sports fans complain about officials cheating and what not. Yesterday and the infamous OSU game are the only times I can remember being truly stunned at the level of bad whistle we received.

Not really sure, it’s probably just the secondary is not as good as last year and it’s easier to go after him. Most teams are attacking Guilbeau, Littleton, and the LBs.

Nah. It was obvious in the stadium the ball never touched the goal line. Every camera angle showed exactly the same except the one camera angle that was not right down the goal line. They only angle they apparently used was the one with parallax error.

No. The closest the ball came was at the end. And we literally saw it not touch the pylon (the edge of the endzone). There is no doubt that ball did not cross. The evidence of that is conclusive angles don't change shit.

Eh, don't agree. Please let me clarify. There were absolutely multiple pivotal plays in this Vandy game, particularly in the second half, that were pretty egregious in how bad they were. The 2 point conversion is among the worst incorrect field and then incorrect reviews I've seen. I'm sure there are one or two that might be close, but holy shit that one floored me.

All that said, while there were a goodly number of incorrect calls and the obscenely bad 2 pt conversion, okie state was next fucking level. I need to go back and look but I recall (perhaps incorrectly) that it was something like 20 penalties and 160 yards against Texas and like 2 for Texas. It was all game long and constant. Even a buddy who was a okie state grad and lives in fucking Stillwater, grew up there, admitted the officiating was paid off. Right at the end of the game. When an opposing fan, even if a friend, sees it that clearly, it's a level beyond.

Not close at all.

Real time watching the game, I said he didn't cross when it happened.

I was shocked that line judge signaled TD. Like, WTF suprised. Then watched the film and I KNEW it would be overturned. KNEW it would be overturned with 100% certainty.

Wasn't...

There’s bad calls that extend or stall drives and then there’s egregious calls that literally give a team points they didn’t get.

It was literally the best case scenario for having definitive evidence. We watch the ball at its absolutely closest point to the end zone pass in front of the pylon. If it doesn't touch there, it doesn't touch anywhere else. Either the review officials were crooked or fucking idiots.

The league office won’t say a word. If they do somehow, they’ll just say it wasn’t conclusive enough to overturn the call on the field.

I assume the official who made the call is the same one who made the unsportsmanlike in the end zone on Pavia that should have been the only penalty there. Was he the same one who called Filsaime for Pavia taking him down?

Was that the game the ref channeled the old white lady from Perfect Neighbor and bumped into Charlie Strong then flopped on the sidelines to throw another personal foul flag?
